It's the name of the county. Bland. Great right? HA!!!

I would be happy to have her finish out her days as a Rocky Gap High girl. And no,..... I wouldn't leave a stray dog at the site the school has designated as her "bus stop". We live on a dead end road so they considered it too difficult for the bus to turn around in this area, although if they got rid of the 18 wheeler who parks there 5 days out of 7 the bus could do a loopty on her stop and pick her up at her home.

Very smart move about not leaving a girl alone at such a stop! Two things strike me as sad about such a situation: first, that you have to worry about such things alone and second that too many idiot parents DON'T!

Seriously, though....the school is called "Bland High?!" HAAAA!!!! Surely, there must be a "Spicy High" somewhere. Both might go to "Podunk U" after.

Actually that bus works daily. Since the sports teams have been combined to a county wide senario since they don't have enough kids in the county for each school to have their own sports teams. So, the bus does get a workout. But I suppose highway miles are way better.

I just hope Flora's local high school stays open long enough for her to graduate. If not, then I will be forced to drive her to school each day to Bland High and that would really mess up my routine. Her bus stop is not safe. She would have to stand on the main road through our little town which is just a 20 foot turn from the interstate, and she would be the only child standing at that stop. NOT going to happen.

long drives cause less wear and tear than a regular route, picking up and droping kids off is hard work on the bus, lots of stop and start.  plus they probably dont have a field trip daily.

Now, for most people, that explanation would be enough. But, sadly, no for me. Flora told me yesterday that her bus driver Flo (believe or not) had to retire her bus last year. It did not leave the school though because it is now the "Activity Bus". Now, this bus was deemed unfit for regular routes but is now the "activity bus"?? This bus now travels up to 3 hours one way in it's duty. So, I am really curious to know how many miles are on it.
Well, I guess I'll just have to ask Flo how many miles the bus had on it when it was retired from "regular" service. Better yet! I'll get Flora to ask her!

now there is an idea I am sure they are hard at work researching now.  the oil companies probably stoped that.

Thanks HB!
Now, at what point of that mileage to you think they retire the bus from school duty and leave it to slug it way out on church and civic duties?

Close enough for horseshoes and hand grenades, IMO.

Hell, tell me that they ran on the unfulfilled dreams of small children and I'd probably believe it.

would depend on the engine, and if it was used for city or country work, but I would guess a gas engine would be good for 300,000 miles, Diesel 500,000

Since when did HB become the answerer of mundane questions? LOL Ok, so he deals in vehiculars but this might be a bit out of his depth of mundane.

Good Saturday afternoon Blah!
Just listened to Halford IV for six hours straight, got home and had to look up a question which occured to me while driving. Still have not had this questioned answered by a internet search. My question is mundane (and completely unrelated to the beginning of this post), but I want to know:  What is the maximum mileage for a school bus without completely replacing the engine???? Only thoughts like this occur to you while driving for a long time, and happening to pass a few "reassigned" school buses.

Vail, good for you going to see Halford!

Becks, I hope Metallica brings their "real" Metal to the show.
