Point well taken, Scorp. I love baseball. Played all my life up until a few years ago. As an adult ( in my late 20's early 30's) I played tournament softball with a state team in Cal. Traveled all around the country playing ball. I was on the field seven days a week! Tourneys every weekend and leagues during the week. I lived for it. Metal music has always been a passion. Fronted a couple bands in my youth and did the whole bar scene. This thing with the Project has really been a wonderful outlet for my music. MM and I enjoy playing together and we put out some decent material. I relate very well with what you are saying! I must say, I am thoroughly impressed, Scorp. WOW! I was not good enough to play on my college team. You have a wonderful knowledge of Dodger history! Very impressive, indeed.
I know the folks in Chicago have much to cry about, given that their Cubbies lost again, but they are used to it. The Dodgers have a winning organization and I really believed we were destined for the Series this year. It is very difficult to let go!! I'LL BE PULLING FOR THEM HARD ALSO. ORIGINATING IN BROOKLYN, THERE ARE STILL MANY DIE HARD DODGER FANS HERE.
MANY OF THE TROLLY CAR TRACKS STILL EXIST IN BROOKLYN WHICH IS WHERE THE DODGERS GOT THEIR NAME. PEOPLE USED TO DODGE IN FRONT OF THE TROLLY CARS TO CROSS THE STREETS. ONE OF THE SEVERAL NAMES THE DODGERS WENT BY WHEN IN BROOKLYN WAS THE TROLLY DODGERS BEFORE IT WAS SHORTENED TO JUST THE DODGERS. THEY WERE ALSO CALLED THE BRIDES GROOMS FOR A FEW YEARS.
WE STILL HAVE JACKIE ROBINSON PARKWAY, CARL ERSKINE STREET, GIL HODGES BRIDGE. THE BROOKLYN CYCLONES MASCOTTE ARE TWO BIRDS CALLED SANDY AND PEEWEE.
THE METS NEW STADIUM NEXT YEAR WILL LOOK SIMILAR TO EBBITS FIELS AND WILL FEATURE A JACKIE ROBINSON ROTUNDA.
I'M A HUGE GIL HODGES FAN I PLAYED FOR AND NOW MANAGE 2 BASEBALL TEAMS AT GIL HODGES LITTLE LEAGUE. WE PLAY AT GIL HODGES STADIUM.
WE STILL SEE MANY OF THE PLAYERS AND WIVES FROM THE DODGERS AT THE CYCLONES GAMES.
MY SON LAST YEAR GOT TO GO ON THE FIELS IN HIS UNIFORM FOR THE NATIONAL ANTHEM WITH JOHNNY PODRES BEFORE HE PASSED AWAY AND JOAN HODGES.
WE MET CARL ERSKINE A FEW MONTHS BACK WHEN THE HAD A BOBBLE HEAD NIGHT FOR HIM.
I FIRMLY BELIEVE GIL HODGES SHOULD BE ELECTED TO THE HALL OF FAME. I'D LOVE TO DISCUSS IT FURTHER WITH ANYONE WILLING TO HAVE THE CONVERSATION. HIS ACCOMPLISHMENTS ARE TREMENDOUS. MOST POEPLE LOOK ARE THE RAW NUMBERS AND DON'T APPRECIATE HOW GREAT HE WAS.
I ALSO PLAYED BASEBALL AT HIGHLEVELS WHEN I WAY YOUNGER. WON THE NATIONAL BABE RUTH WORLD SETRES IN 1977, PLAYED DIVISION 1 COLLEGE BALL AGAINST MAY TO BE PROFESSIONAL PLAYERS. I ACTUYALLY HAVE OUR ANNUAL ALUMNI GAME THIS WEEKEND.
ANYWAY GOOD LUCK TONIGHT. AND BESIDES JOE TORRE WAS BORN IN BROOKLYN |

Very good point, Scorp. My problem is, I am a die-hard Dodger fan. I grew up in LA and wanted to play for them when I was a kid....you know? I went to college in LA and planned on being a professional baseball player. My grandmother always wanted me to be a Dodger. Our whole family bleeds Dodger Blue. It is tremendously difficult to watch them lose this year after all that went SO right when they got Manny and turned things around. The HUGE mistake that was Andruw Jones, the injuries to key players. I really believed that this was the year, you know?
I will be in front of my TV tonight. Hoping. Praying. Wearing my Dodger jersey and begging the baseball gods to please, PLEASE let us back in it. It is hard to accept defeat, even when you can smell it.

A truly enjoyable game! Wonderfully played by the Dodgers in all categories! It appears that they had finally had enough of being pushed around by Philadelphia and pushed back...hard. Clearly, the Phillies did not like a dose of their own medicine. Did you guys see the "Flyin Hawaiian" meltdown at the plate when Kuroda took a shot at his melon? HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And then, of course, there's Manny being Manny. Hitting the crap out of a ball and intimidating all. HAHAHAA!! Oh where is Tim? I simply must thank him for the use of the Red Sox star! And better yet, IF the Dodgers can get into the World Series and manage to get those same Sox, Boston will be in the position of paying Ramirez to play against them!!!!! Oh the horror!!! (or is it horrah??) . The 'Chowds worse nightmare returns to do them in and they have to pay for the privilage?!??!?!?? HAHAHAHAA!! |

WOW, what a game! How exciting. First the cards are unlucky by that overtime kick after the timeout, then, they are sooo lucky with that blocked punt, turning it into a TD.

You know, I can't either. Just thinking that in the last round of turnovers. What is it? The fact that they look like the Lions with the exception that they often win? The fact that I am old enough to remember them being called "America's team?" The fact that their cheerleaders had a reality show?

Soy, as a life long bears fan, you're absolutely correct...i was screaming at the top of my lungs when i saw that 'squib kick'...coaches error cost us the game...all that being said...i have to tip my hat to the falcons rookie quarterback...he played one hell of a game today...how about 3rd and 1, couldn't score...4th and 1, couldn't score...we had our chances for points earlier and didn't capitalize...but we still could/should have won today...
