I love Japanese horror movies. There is something about them that is just creepy. They are not all good, but as a warning do not watch them alone. Some good movies are: The Grudge, Dark Water, The Red Shoe (I think that is correct). The Sundance Channel has them on. Blockbuster actually carries a lot of Japanese horror movies.

Just watched The Happening With Mark Wahlberg, and I was terribly disappointed.  Many disturbing death scenes (where the movie does succeed) but definitely fails in the movies' climax.

Texas chainsaw masacre, movie kicks ass.And of course The house of a 1000 corpse, produced by Rob Zombie himself.

Ok, now I can honestly say that I both saw Saw and I see saw.  However,  I have never even seen one scene of Saw WHILE see sawing. I suppose that I could see Saw while see sawing but that remains to bee seen. I would love that the seesaw be near the sea so I could see Saw on a seesaw by the sea.

What I do see is that it would be seen as cool to saw a seesaw near the sea while seeing Saw, you see?

Just starting Saw 3....I gotta say, I completely misjudged this series. It is WAY cool!

I am not one for an abject gore-fest (as I had assumed) but this was far from it. Saw 1, especially. I had heard from everyone when it first came out that it was all about someone cutting off his foot. Um..yeah, it has that but they neglected to speak of the great story, camera work, flash forwards, backwards, etc. Finished Saw 2 last night and, while not QUITE as good, still drew me in with those elaborate traps. Ending, again, was one of those cool Twillight Zone twists. Off to Saw 3 I go. Already started and like the beginning. Harsh, but cool.

All thanks to TV as I posted before. Had I not been flipping channels, I would have never known. Now I see why they made three after the original. Even see traces of that "trap...judge what to do for yourself" mentality in The Dark Knight. Joker does the same thing. <==if you haven't seen THAT yet...two thumbs up! GO!

BLACK SABBATH, it's a movie from the 60's. Anyone hear of it? Sort of like TALES FROM THE CRYPT. It has 3 tales, the first one being the best, i think. If you need a hint, Boris Karloff is in it.

The Shining...awesome.

The Evil Dead

Watched one recently, can't remember the name but you could buy a human and then kill it anyway you wanted.  Torture etc.  Pretty good flick.

Halloween's my favorite.  I watch it every year on the day.

Agree with Lori, they're all good!

Yeah, feet just keep "surfacing" on this coast....

I think one of the scariest movies I have seen was called "The Plauge".. It had Raoul Julia (Addams Family), and it was what would happen if the bubolmic plauge hit modern Argentina. Stuff like that is creepy to think about. The Handmaid's Tale is a little disturbing, but not as much as the book.it is like the original Stepford Whives, I just fear domestication.....

Was Videodrome a horror movie or just a little twisted?
[.] Sunday, August 03, 2008 11:25:19 PM
The worst crimes are commited by guys like the BTK killer (Bind, Torture, Kill) with a perfectly normal outer shell they maintain for decades. I lived somewhere abouts in his area at the time of his capture.
The reason why nobody intervened on that bus is because they were shocked and terrified and afraid but even if it was a minor pickpocket on the bus, they still wouldn't do shit.
Sheep.

[sweatysock] Saturday, August 02, 2008 9:03:45 AM
Makes you wonder how bystanders can watch someone do that and not intervene somehow. There are several mental health patients detained at the hospital where I work as a psychy nurse here in the UK, who have committed horific murders like that and worse!! Crazy thing is, the government are forcing the NHS to rehabilitate them back into the comunity after being institutionalised for several years. I feel it's too risky to allow unpredictable people like that to roam our streets anonymously. Who would want to live in an area if they knew the history of someone like that in their midst? No one is the answer!! I don't think these people should have a right to anonymity given their horrific crimes, regardless if they are diagnosed schizophrenics.

Anyway, back to the thread in question!! Best film I saw was''The Evil Dead'' in the early 80's. Have'nt seen anything that comes close to that that would scare me horror-wise.
