Yeah Becks Biff does have a unique voice...check this tune out...this is "Conquistador" from the 1999 "Metalhead" album, this may be my favorite Saxon track of all time...this one is total classic british heavy metal at it's best.

Saxon - "Demon Sweeny Todd" from the new album Into The Labyrinth 2009. At least Saxon has not experimented with something out of the ordinary, thier goal is to release consistant heavy metal/rock albums year after year because they have established themselves as a consistant british heavy metal band. "I am the Demon Sweeny Todd"!!!!!!!!!

Hey HRMG....you got to eventually buy this DVD "The Saxon Chronicles"...2001 live in Germany they headline in front of thousands of German denim & leather heavy metal maniacs!! 5.1 surround sound, they crank out track after track of elite songs...not one of the tracks they played this night are bad, they are all elite tracks...every one of them...

They open up with "Motorcycle Man" and it just kicks fuckin balls!! The atmosphere of this DVD is absolutely supurb!!  From start to finish...it will make you wish you were there I can promise! This live DVD is one of my favorites ever. Thanks to Tina from Walsall England(missing member...a friend of mine whom I speak with off the site on the phone from time to time )for introducing me to this DVD!

Hey right on  HRMG!!!!!!  Yeah thier first album through Power and the Glory(5 albums) are classic Saxon.  If you wanted to start with an album yeah I would buy Lionheart(2004)

....every song is classic Saxon..."perfect" .Then I would buy  "The Inner Sanctum"(2007)....that album is totally excellent and I think every song on that album is awsome too...another

perfect album with absolutely no lame tracks. Then I would buy "Metalhead"(1999)....that album only has one lame song on it called "Prisoner"..but all the rest of the tracks are cool.

They really mix thier albums with classic hard rock songs and traditional heavy metal songs.....and yeah I really like the Heavy Metal Thunder CD as well.............I love that version of

"And The Bands Played On" much better than the original track on the Denim & Leather album....and the "Power & The Glory" version is also better than the one of the original CD.

And the track "Crusader" kicks ass....its just the Crusader album that is not that great...but the song is a very traditional heavy metal song.

THANKS J.D.!! This song kicks ass - I love the drumming! We had all the old Saxon albums (Saxon through Power and the Glory) when I was growing up and I loved them (don't know what happened to them though). But then the mid 80's hit and I didn't like their albums and I guess I just gave up and only listened to the old stuff. It's funny, I was reading the CD insert to the Heavy Metal Thunder CD and Biff calls the Innocence Is No Excuse album "Our Def Leppard album"! LMAO! They still sound fantastic. I'm going to buy the Heavy Metal Thunder CD for my brother as one of his Christmas presents. Now I need to buy some more Saxon and I think I'll start with Lionheart!

Heres a tune from Lionheart for HOT ROCKIN'METAL GODDESS "To Live By The Sword" 2004!!!!!!!!
[J.D. DIAMOND] Thursday, September 17, 2009 5:08:43 AM

Hey Hot Rockin' Metal Goddess!  Cool to hear that you got some Saxon!! Yeah the Heavy Metal Thunder CD is very cool.....I love that version of Motorcycle Man!!!!!!!

They have 18 studio albums and definately stay away from 4 albums: 1984 Crusader, 1985 Innocense Is No Excuse, 1986 Rock The Nations and 1988 Destiny.

Those 4 albums are Saxon's "hair band era" and the song writting is an attempt at the commercial american market at that time...something Biff wishes he could

go back and change!! lol!   Thanks to my friend "Tina" from Walsall  England,I've been into Saxon for 5 years now!!!  I've always known thier name, heard some songs

back in the day but never payed attention to them untill Tina got me into them.....they are the most underrated heavy metal band in the world in my opinion. The first 5

studio albums from Saxon are classic Saxon....then they changed beginning with 1984 Crusader album - through 1988 Destiny....but they started to get better in 1990

when they  released "Solid Ball Of Rock" and 1992 "Forever Free"...those albums are half good and half bad.......then starting with 1995 "Dogs Of War" album all the way

up till now...7 studio albums in a row are very worthy Saxon and is the best era of Saxon in my opinion.     2004 "Lionheart" is Saxon's best LP if I had to chose one.

I don't know what happened to all my Saxon albums - maybe my brother took them, I don't know. I put this in and God it sounds so good! All my favorites on one CD sounding better than ever Now I'm wondering why the hell it took me so long in the first place!

[J.D. DIAMOND] Thursday, August 27, 2009 5:14:45 AM

Hey Becks!!  Yeah 1980 "Strong Arm Of The Law" is a cool album...the ONLY track I don't like is "Sixth Form Girls"..but the rest are classic Saxon.

I think 2004's "Lionheart" is Saxon's best album.  Amazon.com should have some Saxon cds used but good for a good price..they should have...

but I haven't looked .....I have all Saxon CDs except  1984 "Crusader"....    1985 "Innocense Is No Excuse"....  1986  "Rock The Nations"...and     1988 "Destiny".

I would not get those albums...those are not good Saxon albums...the band has 18 studio albums and those 4 are the ones not to get!!  The other 14 I have.

Out of the 14 I have....12 of them are excellent Saxon albums!!! The two albums that are ok with half songs are cool and the other half are throw away tracks are

1990 "Solid Ball Of Rock" and 1992 "Forever Free".....5 songs good 5 songs lame..........I compare them to "Ram It Down"....to me  I like half of it.....

No offence J.D., but I can understand what Bev is saying. I had to laugh as well when I read that post by Numero Uno. We all know Numero Uno is making a mockery out of it, but that post cracked me up anyway. I had to laugh, I just couldn't help it. But no offence J.D., I just think we shouldn't take Numero Uno's posts so serious.

It's just like that "Halford vs The Ripper" situation. I don't understand why some people continue to fight with Numero Uno because of this. I, for one, would prefer Halford over Owens any day. Numero Uno thinks otherwise. But still there's no conflict between me and the dude. I just never discuss this subject with him. Plain and simple. You remember that argument we had a few weeks ago? You know, when I posted a message about Winger in that heavy metal thread? I soon stopped discussing with you because I realized that we would both cling to our opinions. It was a useless argument, because we wouldn't change our opinion. Does that mean I hate you? Hell no, man. I hold no grudge against you. I'm sure if we would meet eachother in bar we would have a beer together and have a good time. It's the same thing with Numero Uno. It's useless to argue with that dude. And like I said: I think we shouldn't take this Numero Uno situation so serious. Why should we take him serious, he doesn't take himself serious?   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by J.D. DIAMOND from Friday, August 21, 2009 2:55:31 PM)

Sorry JD, didn't mean to be rubbing it in- I'll definately get some pictures if I go, then try to corner Biff and tell him to go to Seattle, pronto!

[J.D. DIAMOND] Tuesday, August 11, 2009 3:49:13 PM

kiamat!!!!!  But you live in the U.K.!!!!????!!!!????!!!! LOL!  How could you of missed them every tour for the last um-teen years??! lOL!

Hey that is cool man,and I'm glad for ya...I've never seen Saxon and NEVER will because I live in Seattle Washington,U.S.A.......

Saxon will never do a full U.S. tour because thier manager does not have the ability and is not good at booking shows.

Why haven't they got a new one? I don't know either...I think Saxon is contempt at just playing Europe.  They always say they

are going to do a full U.S. tour but it never happens. "SIGH".   They are kick ass live I heard, and if you go...bring some pictures back!!!

I CANNOT BELIEVE IT!!!!

I might actually, finally, be getting to see Saxon!
They've announced a second UK tour going around all the places they didn't go last time, including Leeds Academy, which is just a short car trip from university in Sheffield! I am SO stoked, haven't even booked tickets, in fact may not even BE in Sheffield in November (Uni place isn't confirmed, but whatever).

Well.... the core of the band have been together for some time now. Yeah, they had some changes but it was for the better...

Vocalist Biff  Byford and guitarist Paul Quinn are the only 2 members that were on the first Saxon record from 1979..............

Biff Byford,Paul Quinn,Doug Scarratt(guitars) and Nibbs Carter(bass) this group of 4 have been together since 1995

when Doug joined the band replacing  Grahm Oliver on guitars.  Steve Dawson left the band in 1986 and was replaced

by Paul Johnson on bass. Paul Johnson left in 1988 and was replaced by  Nibbs Carter on bass.  Nigal Glockler the drummer

joined Saxon in 1982 and was on the 1983 "Power & The Glory"  album, and  had stayed with the band all the way up

till 1999...he left but came back and has been back since 2005.   X guitarist "Grahm Oliver" and X bassist "Steve Dawson"

joined up together and formed the ridiculous outfit called "Oliver & Dawson's Saxon".!!!!  What a JOKE!!!    They at first were

using the original Saxon logo....and when they did a show ,some people thought that they were going to see the "REAL" Saxon

only to show up and see the "Oliver & Dawson's Saxon" with a shitty vocalist who could not come close to Biff!!!  Well, none the less

Biff & the real "Saxon" took them to court and now they can't use the original Saxon font logo.........what a bunch of losers!!!!!  LOL!

I've often wondered if it had not been for Judas Priest would I have been just as loyal to Saxon.  When I go back and look though, they've (Saxon) been through so many personnel changes!  Do you know why JD?
