February 10 th 1978, 31 years ago....Stained Class was released, an indisputable metal masterpiece, principally recorded at Chipping Norton Studios, Cotswold, England.
After the stunning success of 1977's SIN AFTER SIN, Judas Priest offered another exceptional album with its follow-up one ... Though disco and punk were grabbing all the headlines in the late '70s, Priest turned a deaf ear to these new musical developments, and stuck to its heavy metal guns. Rarely has metal sounded so inspired and precise as this album's highlights. Stained Class is largely regarded as one of the best Metal albums ever released. While most of us can argue that all night long, the fact still remains that Stained Class was WAY ahead of its time and it influenced a ton of Metal bands
Exciter
White Heat, Red Hot
Better By You Better Than Me
Stained Class
Invader
Saints In Hell
Savage
Beyond The Realms Of Death
Heroes End
Racing 'cross the heavens, straight into the dawn
Looking like a comet, slicing through the morn
Scorching the horizon, blazing through the land
Now he's here amongst us, the age of fire's at hand!"

ok,ok the album was ahead of it's time. priest had little air play in 78. the problem may have been to many well established bands........aerosmith,doors,queen,boston..............list goes on......... after british steel , living after midnight, breaking the law , unleashed in the east.............. they finally got some air play. maybe on some pirate radio station( college station) they go more air time. by point of entry , jp was a household name. it's sad that we thought van halen was so great...............................what were we thinking then? |
