HAHA! They sure were pick and stick magnets! They still talk about that, how Rob rained Metal God picks down on us and how Glenn came down and shook their hands. GREAT memories and one hell of a weekend with our Priest family!! I think our youngest would still be a pick/stick magnet but probably wouldn't fair well in the pit and I'm not sure he would share with you, LOL!!

Yup, could care less about Pop Weavel but would MUCH prefer Saxon!!! Like if they swictched Alice on me for the Motley tour. Hell, I'd still like to meet Alice! Alas, no luck.

WILL be standing there for PW, though as I want to secure my place for Priest. I am thinking Rob-Glenn this time around as I always seem to find myself in front of Richie. / KK (sniff). Can I borrow a pick / drumstick magnet of yours (aka. kid or two?). My nephews are getting too old and uppity! If an 8 hour each way trip right before I go to Brazil isn't the sign of a "true fan," I am posting in the wrong thread! LOL!!!

Like you, I could care less who is opening for Priest because I will go no matter what. It's a BONUS if I like the opening band(s). But this time around I'm pretty pissed that it was announced originally as Saxon opening and now it's Pop Evil. More time to drink I guess! But you know they are really big in MI since they are from Grand Rapids, so I'm curious to see how many people are there to see them. I only saw them once when they opened on the BS tour. They didn't play in Cleveland, it was just Whitesnake and Priest. In Detroit, you, HVYMTL, Freeze and I were still at the pub and shucks, missed their set! I did finally see their set in Cincinnati and the crowd was definitely NOT into them. I did see them at a festival a couple years ago and they were much better. I still don't know any of their songs though.

Ya know, it didn't really say but I would guess Pop Weavel again. Nobody major, thus I don't really care.

Anyways!

Talking about getting used to Richie.

First time I saw Richie perform was in that episode in American Idol, where the band played/sang along with that one contestant (speaking of which, I wonder what happened to that dude). I wasn’t sure what to expect of this “replacement of KK". Watching that performance, I was rather surprised with Richie’s solo in BTL. Pleasantly surprised, I might add. Took a liking to him almost immediately.

At the same time, however, I was hit by sadness as this new, other half of the Twin-Axe Attack wasn’t playing a flying V. This new guy had facial hair and piercings and had sunglasses on. That BTL solo was played in a very different style, and yet he was rocking to and fro with Glenn, where KK would stand. First time it hit me that KK was not gonna perform with Judas Priest that night, maybe never again. Perhaps a similar feeling shared by many fans when Ripper first performed with JP.

Still, I'm glad that Richie was given a chance to show the metal world what he’s made of, and proved that he could fill in the role of a Metal God. Like HRMG, I’m glad that the band is still around and continues to give it all that it has. And for the fans (“true” or not), Richie gives us a peek into the Metal Gods way of life in the form of a very active FB page. And who doesn’t enjoy getting such a peek? Heck, even the official JP Facebook page often shares his pics/updates. I do hope that he stays with the band for a long time. Of course, nothing lasts forever, so we’ll see, I guess.

Richie definitely changes their sound. I guess I was prepared for that going into the first show, so it didn't surprise me. I didn't expect it to be the same, just as obviously it wasn't the same when Ripper was in the band. I think it was the same for me with Richie as it was with Ripper - I was happy that my favorite band was still together, kicking metal ass even though the band would never be/sound the same. That may be why it bothers me so much that Priest claims to have played a song off of every album on the Epitaph tour yet completely left out Jugulator and Demolition. They OWE Ripper a huge thank you for stepping into Rob's shoes and taking all the shit he got doing it. Ripper kept Priest alive while Rob did what he needed to do. Rob needed that time away from the band to tell the world who he was without hurting and possibly destroying the band that he loved more than anything. I'm overjoyed that Rob, KK, Ian and Glenn were able to patch things up and get back together. But I also think Ripper was a big part of this band and deserved to be recognized for his contributions to Priest during their farewell tour. Hell, even Bruce sings Blaze's songs!! Ripper is a great guy and deserves better. I'm just thankful for everything they have done since the reunion with Rob, for better or worse. I think Richie fits in well and is truly enjoying interacting with the fans.

Take Care Bud!!

We stayed in a hotel. The first two years we bought the hotel package. You end up in a nice hotel (Hyatt, etc.) but the amount of time spent there doesn't really justify the cost for me. I just go on Kayak.com every year about a month or so prior to the event and look for something (comfort inn, holiday inn, and check the reviews.) I get a room for about $69.00 a night each year that way. Never more than 10/15 min drive to the stadium. No matter anything that I may have commented during the Epitaph tour I really have enjoyed the two shows since. Agree or not Richie changes their sound and I think the first time out that was a little tough for me. He also puts his own spin on the solo's but that's OK it's his style I just wasn't used to it. I do feel that there best is behind them but that's not ripping them it's just that they're getting older. I feel like you do as far as I'm just glad they're still doing it and doing it pretty well at that.  Whether we ever get anything out of them again or not I got my final wish from them and will expect no more. I just wanted them to give us one last quality cd and a good tour to go with it. I feel I got it. Not backing off my production comments but like I copied and pasted here from my first post on it I think it is a very good cd. Hope Mr. Francis cleans up a little in here for you guys. Take care.

It started raining during their set at ROTR too, which probably didn't help. I'm sure people left because of that and the nightmare the parking lot was. Did you camp there or stay at a hotel? We stayed at a hotel but found a close side street to park on. Just a quick walk over the train tracks and we were at our car.

I heard from others that Pittsburgh was an awesome show. Now I'm kicking myself we didn't go to that one too! Getting older is a bitch, I'm just glad my favorite band continued to go on because I think they are still kicking some ass and showing the young ones how metal should be played, even if they aren't bouncing around the stage like they used to. That's OK with me as long as they still sound great, which they do. I wish they would up their stage show though.

[Budred] Monday, June 15, 2015 1:17:25 AM

I thought Rob sounded good on "Painkiller" and most everything else also. I liked them a little better back in October in Pittsburgh but I think that just had to do with them being inside and better acoustics. I was worried about how they would sound @Rotr but overall I thought the sound was pretty good. Really loud and didn't fade in and out like some bands. I also liked that the crowd for the most part was enjoying them. Some headliners @ROTR get a mass exodus during their sets and It happened to Priest too but a good portion stayed so I was glad for them on that one. As for K.K. and his comments maybe he was referring to the band as a whole. I thought the tempo slowed a bit their last few tours. (That's not ripping them either it's just a fact of life and aging). Maybe he had trouble dealing with that. Personally I thought B.S. was really good but it was Epitaph that disappointed me. Maybe subtle changes were taking place that he was noticing more than the fans were and he figured the best was behind them and maybe they should let it go. I know I felt that way. I think they stepped it up a little on R.O.S. tour and CD but I don't think we're ever going to hear Priest of old again. Maybe that was K.K. was thinking and maybe he felt a better legacy for them would be to end it rather than to go on and tarnish it. Only guesses because I surely don't know.

[Nupe The Ripper] Sunday, June 14, 2015 12:58:37 PM
Indeed. Three years ago, I don't recall having anyone on my ignore list. Now there's seven names on it, and unfortunately it's likely to grow even further. I honestly can't be bothered reading the "contributions" of these people: posting non-functional links to music videos, calling anyone who dares to criticise the band even slightly as "not a true fan", writing filthy love letters to each other out in the wide open and swearing and arguing when someone asks them to tone it down. And yes, all that crap is likely to cause many new members who could actually be good posters to run away from the forum in terror.

Oddly enough, I seem to be ignored by two members despite not recalling ever getting into an argument with anyone. Could just be some of those whose behavior I just criticised...

You make some very valid points here. After all, they had their own thread....stick to it! They are both clearly shitdisturbers. You are (most know the difference between the contraction "you're" and possessive "your") absolutely right.

Just hit an ignore on 'em and they'll soon vanish. After all, we both know that they all do.

I completely agree. But I also think that the idiots WANT this site to die. That is why they are coming into the only threads we all talk in so they can disrupt it and make it look like those two morons are the only two on this site. Oh, but Froot Loops only comes here to be with her love, Booger Man. Yeah right. IF that were true, those two morons would stick to their own thread and have conversations there. They WANT to piss us off and close this site. Yes, it truly IS ridiculous!! By the way, obviously KK felt the Priest machine was not what it once was. I always felt that Priest should have stepped up and played a longer set when Coverdale ended up with a throat infection during the British Steel tour and Whitesmake had to cancel the rest of the shows. I wonder if KK wanted to do that to make it up to the fans but others didn't? During the BS tour, it looked like KK was having a blast, interacting with the fans as he always did. I think eventually the truth will come out. I don't know about you, but I think the back surgery has really helped Rob be able to hit those highs again. I thought Painkiller at ROTR was really the best I've heard him sing it in many years. What did you think?
