NEW YORK CAN ABSOLUTELY SUPPORT TWO TEAMS. THE PROBLEM IS THE ARENA IS HORRIBLE, DIFFICULT TO GET TO AND I THINK THEY NEED TO MOVE GAME START TIME TO 7:30.
AS FOR TAVARES. WE ISLANDER FANS ARE ALL HOPING THAT WE PLAY HARD, THE YOUNG PLAYERS GROW AND GET GOOD EXPERIENSE AND WE GET THE # 1 PICK. HOPEFULLY TAVARAS WILL SEE THAT THE YOUNG ISLANDERS ARE HEADED IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. I CAN DREAM FOR NOW ANYWAY. I JUST HOPE IT DOESN'T BECOME A NIGHT MARE.

I know that the Chicago market has not been kind to the NHL. I think most of that stems from local ownership though, not the lack of a fanbase. It's funny how it all works. You take the Cubs who haven't won a World Series in going on 101 years and Wrigley Field is sold out for every game. You take the Blackhawks who, until this season didn't even televise home games (limiting exposure) and had suspect talent at best, and 4-5000 fans would show up. You have to be able to keep what fans you have and also market your team to win new fans over. If we weren't an original 6 city, I don't know if there would be hockey in this area, just because of the aforementioned reasons. Where is the marketing department?? You have to be able to increase a fanbase and most importantly, WIN!!!

THEY NEED THAT BAD.
I DON'T KNOW WHAT I'D DO. I DON'T KNOW IF I COULD EVER ROOT FOR THE RANGERS WITH PASSION AFTER HATING THEM FOR SO MANY YEARS. I GREW UP WITH TO THOUGHT THAT "RANGERS FANS SHOULD HAVE FORKS STUCK IN THERE EYES. JUST KIDDING! THAT ISN'T SERVERE ENOUGH." OF COURSE IT WAS ALL IN JEST, BUT THATS THE WAY IT IS BETWEEN RANGER AND ISLANDERS FANS. I STRONGLY BELIEVE IT IS THE BEST RIVALRY IN ALL OF SPORTS.
MAPLE - I DISAGREE ABOUT THERE BEING TOO MANY TEAMS. WITH PLAYERS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD I THINK THE NHL CAN SUPPORT THE TEAMS.
I DO AGREE WITH YOU ABOUT THE SHOOT OUT. I'D RATHER SEE A 10 MINUTE OVERTIME, GET RID OF THE SHOOTOUT AND IF THE GAME ENDS IN A TIE, SO BE IT. AFTER 70 MINUTES THEY PLAYED EACHOTHER EVENLY, BOTH GET A POINT.

THE RUMORS BEGAN WHEN THE ISLANDERS CONFIRMED THEY WERE GOING TO PLAY AN EXHIBITION GAME IN KANSAS CITY. THEY WILL ALSO BE HOLDING TRAINING CAMP IN CENTRAL CANADA. I THINK IT IS A PLOY BY THE OWNER TO GET QUICKER APPROVAL ON THE LIGHT HOUSE PROJECT WHICH WOULD REFURBISH THEIR ARENA WITHING A MALL TYPE AREA WITH STORES, AMUSMENT PARK, RESTURANTS ETC. THEY NEED THAT BAD.

HELLO TO YOU...THE C WITH THE A WAS ON THE SWEATERS AROUND 1910 OR SO,IT STOOD FOR 'CANADIAN ATHLETIC CLUB'...CHANGED TO C WITH H ABOUT 1916 WHCH INDICATED 'CANADIAN HOCKEY CLUB'... ...
SO THE RUMOURS ARE FLYING UP HERE THAT THE ISLANDERS MIGHT BE ON THE MOVE......
INDICATIONS FROM THE OWNER,HOW ARE THE FANS SUCH AS YOURSELF TAKING THIS?...I'D HATE TO SEE YOU LOSE YOUR ISLANDERS...IF THEY WANT TO DO SOMETHING RIGHT,GET TAMPA,FLORIDA,ATLANTA,PHOENIX TO HELL OUT OF THOSE U.S. MARKETS THAT THEY DON'T SUPPORT AND RELOCATE AT LEAST THREE OF THEM BACK IN CANADA....THE 'GOLDEN HORSESHOE' (THE AREA IN SOUTHERN ONTARIO) COULD SUPPORT AT LEAST TWO ADDITIONAL TEAMS,TRUST ME.
