Yes, our animals are always there for us without reservation - unlike people. They give us so much and ask for so very little. They will always be our "babies" no matter how old (or white) they get and I think that is why it is so heartbreaking when they leave us. Oscar sounds wonderful J.D., you were both lucky to find each other.

I know how you must feel right now, as my family's dog died in late November last year. It was a true shock after having her around for 13 years... suddenly there isn't a small, furry friend to greet you when you get home.

It's very awful to lose a pet after a long time.

Thanks to Metallian,I agree with you man.   And thanks to you Becks, yeah it really hurts to lose an animal regardless if it was his time or not,it just really sucks. I guess I was lucky to have him for 14 and a half years, but I would feel the same had I had him for 24 years ect..  Never again will I ever see a cat that had passion for food like this one,it was unreal.

He was really like a dog to say the least but charrished food more than a dog.  I've always had an extra likings for animals. As I mentioned before we are getting a puppie on Friday and had planned to for some time, just a coincidence I lose one on Monday and another one comes into my life on Friday. Animals are cool, much better than people.  Thanks for the kind words Becks.

And HRMG,it sounds like you have a wonderful German Shepherd, and yeah its good you celebrate each day with him,but on the flip side he may have a little longer than you know so our fingers are crossed. I guess there is no such thing as "long enough".  We could have our animals for 35 years and it would still hurt as much to lose them.  It was harder losing my animals than it was losing my own mother and father and I know that sounds strange but its true. Perhaps the reason being is that I was able to talk to my parents while they talked back,my animals can't say anything and perhaps thats what makes it more heartbreaking...I don't know but it really sucks.

Oh that's so sad JD, but you did the right thing in not letting Oscar suffer. Condolences to you - losing an animal is incredibly difficult.

Losing an animal does suck bigtime!
And i feel for u JD and my thoughts are with u!
Funny thing is,majority people think metalheads are unkind, insensitive, unitelligent people, but,i think that it is the opposite!
Just because we love aggressive music does not mean we are aggressive and heartless!

Take care buddy!

Hey, HRMG,Guido and Spa....thanks alot guys.  Yeah it freaking "SUCKS" to lose an animal. I'm so glad I put him down today,as I mentioned today was the very first sign of him starting to suffer, after today he wouldn't of had any quality of life and for me to hang onto him for another 3 weeks would of been selfish as he would of been suffering. The hard part is missing an animal you've had for 14 years. Truley lame.

As with all my animals in the past I was holding him when he passed and it was peaceful. I buried him in my back yard next to my other animal I had to put down in December. It was hard digging another hole. "SIGH".

But life must go on. Its funny that a little animal holds so much importance to your life ect...  the irony of it all is that we are getting our puppie Friday or Saturday as we had planned for a long time, but we couldn't take him home because he was too young but now will be 10 or 11 weeks old. Yeah losing an animal really freaking sucks man. Thanks again for your kind words my friends.

So very sorry J.D. At least your animal had a good long life. That is not always the case. I know you did what was best for your good long lived friend.
It does not matter if they are young or old though, it still hurts.
Bless the baby,..........they are all babies in our eyes.

Indeed, truly a shame that they don't live longer J.D. You know that my thoughts are with both you and Oscar. Very sad.

I'm so sorry J.D. My German Shepherd will be 15 in May and he is really showing his age now. We celebrate every day we have with him because we know time is running short. It breaks my heart just thinking about it, let alone doing what you had to do today. I know that I will have to one day and I'll be there with him until the end, just as you were for Oscar. Oscar had a great home and wonderful life thanks to you. It is truly a shame that they don't live longer.

Something pissing me of today is that I had to put down my other and last animal I have. Oscar was my 14 and a half year old cat and my heart is once again 'broken". "SIGH".  It was his time, and I "REFUSE" to let a poor animal "suffer". Today was the first signs of him starting to suffer, and again I refuse to let him suffer.

Its not the first animal I've had to put down nor will be the last, but its fucking hard to do.  Its a part of life obviously, and I know all the things that goes with it. It just pisses me off that I had to wake up and realize I'll not have him anymore. Fucking lame. Maybe the troll can laugh at me while I'm  feeling down and out.  Not asking for anybody's sympathy,I'm just posting this to release some stress. Its a shame that animals don't live longer, thats for sure.

If that was an option, I wouldn't be pissed off.

Should this be in the "1000 ways" thread? Yes. I'll be missing it by two damn weeks and impossible to get out of it.
