HA!!!!!!!!!!!!! No no no!! Sorry, my friend. Just don't see myself walking on ice anytime soon. Can you imagine the thunderous tremor caused by my inevitable fall????? Not to mention the girlish scream of agony as my spine disintegrates, leaving me a hulking mass of quivering fat, slowly freezing on the "house". HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nah, I wouldn't be so cruel. In a nutshell, sweeping can change both the speed and "curl" of the stone. Look at a shot after an opponent "takes out" a rock. A sweeper often will start sweeping the other's rock to get them out of the "house" or target.Speeds it up, iow.
As for strategy, you'll often see what I am watching now: throwing "guards" that will be in front of the target / house. They can try to "curl" around them or hit them head-on to take them out. When I refer to the yelling, it is usually the person / "skip" who threw the rock and is watching the line or trajectory of the shot rock and is shouting at the sweepers to do one thing or another. Sweep with more pressure, less, not at all, etc.
So, when are we going to play? | | Deep Freeze wrote: | | Yeah, I was actually wondering about that. What is the point with the brooms?? Do they actually have an affect on the stone?? If so, what? | | guidogodoy wrote: | | See? Becoming a convert! NOTHING like playing it.
10 "ends" (like bowling). The sweepers can get the rock to speed up, slow down or "curl" one direction or another. I prefer watching the women. They scream more! Even better was in the past when they actually used brooms instead of these new swiffers. Wonder if they clean floors too? | | Deep Freeze wrote: | | Believe it or not, I watched the Sweden/Canada match yesterday. STILL don't get it but it appears to be shuffleboard on ice... | | guidogodoy wrote: | | They are heads and shoulders more advanced. I see that the damage has yet to be assessed and that they are still waiting for aftershocks but it is like an 8.8 hitting Japan. Won't be anything close.
Say, watching curling?! LOL!! | | Deep Freeze wrote: | | Quite likely that they are a little more technically advanced as far as infrastructure is concerned. | | guidogodoy wrote: | | Yikes! An 8.8 shaker in Chile? Oddly enough, they will probably have less damage than the República Dominicana. |

Great news, DF!! Have fun and good luck! Can't wait to hear even more of your "crappy" music. HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In just a little bit I'm going to put up my Rob poster. He'll look great up on the wall along with several other magazine cutouts I have of him, KK and Glenn. Yup, that's right. I have pics pinned to the wall of people I've never met. Not only that, but I also have pics of Dio and Lemmy up on my wall. Oh my. I think I need to get out more. BWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have been practicing with them now for almost two weeks and we have a show on the 5th (next week).
The band is Breaking Dawn. They are fairly well-established here in the Vegas scene and I am a GREAT fit for their style. We are doing a mixture of Classic and more modern Rock. I am having a GREAT time!! They are serious musicians and work very hard!!! Looks like things are going to be heating up!! Anyway, you all can expect more of my "crappy" music very soon. HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love that LIVE Rock and Roll!!!!!

This should be in the Hmmm... thread because that's what I'm doing right now. You make a very good point
but believe it or not I still have trouble saying that sucks. I'd be lying if I told you I've never done that but at this
point in my life I would rather just say I don't like something. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by guidogodoy from Friday, February 26, 2010 5:01:45 PM) | | guidogodoy wrote: | | Can't say that I have noticed, to be honest.
Who are you to say? Why, a rational, thinking human being. Shall I play the music that brought JP up on stage at the Grammy's for you? There MUST have been an audience there somehwhere, eh? Watch some of American Idol. It also has an audience. You can't say something sucks?! Maybe you can make Freeze happy and take Ellen's place. | | Budred wrote: | | Notice none of my posts have used those terms. I only rate bands in terms of my favorites.

Glad to read that post. I like the song "Walk Alone". I think your vocals are great on it. Well written lyrics
also. I guess what I'm saying is from what I can tell you should be doing this. I like the classic (and) modern rock
idea. You don't want to get stuck in a rut. Morning everyone. The start of a very busy day here, getting sorted to head up north for the weekend - it's my mums 50th birthday party tomorrow, which my cousin and I basically got bullied in to organising, i.e. I got a text message from my mum saying 'I WANT A PARTY!!!!' So I'm a little stressed right now LOL! Just hoping everything goes smoothly!
Hope you are all having a good day! |
