Good morning Priesty beasts!
It's raining in Africa today. Very strange for this time of year and seriosly interfering with my training. Probably the most unfittest I've been for a big event so er.. stress levels are creeping higher and higer but I have to just soldier on and hope I make it up the moutain in 3 weeks time (insert panicked scream here please)
At least I have a nice road bicycle that is nice and light so I will only be lugging my extra weight up the mountain ha ha hahhaha. Aparantly Armstrong is doing the Argus this year so no surprises as to who will win lol. I'm also determined to track down a local channel showing some of the winter Olypics. There has to be one right? Right? lol..
Ok time for my post gym shower. That cup of coffee finished way too fast imo. |

I consider it like golf. Yeah, it is fun to DO but watching it is just a step above watching apples rot, IMO. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Head banger from Monday, February 15, 2010 7:20:00 PM) |

(no need to watch it now...sorry, nobody from S. Africa, Australia nor NZ). | | Deep Freeze wrote: | | Well, its about quarter after noon here and the Olympics start in 45 min. Then isn't life great J.J. that you are Ruler of the Remote! and King of the Castle when it comes to your viewing pleasures! That is why they have 500 channels of shit to turn through before you turn off the TV in complete disgust. lol [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by jimmyjames from Monday, February 15, 2010 6:04:45 PM) | | jimmyjames wrote: | | It's all shit. I like the speed skating they're showing now cos it's short and fast, lol. The stuff they had on the other day was longer and I lost interest after a few laps. Interesting. So this event has "military" roots, then? I suppose it makes sense. I should think they would need to start shooting at each other, though... HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

In the early days before biathlon became a sport discipline they all carried the full backs n shoot with large caliber weapons like the .308 Winchester caliber. Since the 70th they're shooting with small bore (.22 lfb).

You cannot understand it?? Ya, I know 'Cause biathlon have it roots in a special military unit: "Gebirgsjäger" - "Mountain Infantry" ("High-Mountain-Platoon") and you don't have it in the states!! I am off to ski fast and shoot!" Yeah, I have cross-country on as I type. That is what made me think...damn, this is boring!
I was also thinking the EXACT same thing about the "ski and shoot" event yesterday. Now running on SNOWSHOES and shooting, THERE would be a sport! Watching them trip over tennis racquets tied to their feet, guns going off by accident shooting the guy running in front of you.... |
