Wow, this brings up a whole minefield of emotion for me. I actually cried when I red your post on your skydiving experience and then again when I saw this pic. At first, overwhelming grief, anger, sadness, incredible loss.. Then I realized that my friend died living life to the full and she'd not change a thing about her life.. well, maybe she'd have not splattered herself on the ground during her last dive but who knows... All I can say is you both have an incredible set of balls to do this. I know (specially after her accident that I never will.. I guess she'd be dissapointed with my decisions though )
I can almost hear her sreaming out 'WUSSY' at me! lol
Feck me, it's been a month already and you know what? It still hurts like fucking hell!

I'm so glad that you are brave enough to live out your dreams Bud! big up to you... This is one of the last photos taken of her.

I was just curious as I know even on a bike without a mask, you understand why dog's make the faces they do. lol
Kudos to you. Something I would love to try, but I fear it big time!

I think you can breathe but I honestly don't know. The only thing I remember from the freefall were the hand signals.
Everything else was a blur.
It lasted 37 seconds so I have to assume I took a breath. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by spapad from Sunday, February 28, 2010 1:23:38 PM)

Bud, I take it your the one in the middle in the tan suit??? Good choice of parchute color, just in case the experience caused you to say, "oh, shit" and then do it.

I don't think I'd even be able to get a scream out looking down at the ground like that! Question, can you breath falling like that?? or is it like what dogs experience when
they stick their head out the window? I only know how that feels from riding a motor cycle with no face guard. lol

They say clenched fists are a sign of nervousness. This is around 8,000ft. up.

I went bungee jumping once. I did it at Geauga Lake Amusement Park near Cleveland, Ohio.
It was from 150ft. off of a crane. They had an airbag at the bottom so I knew everything would
be O.K..(LOL) You're sitting in this little cage while they pull you to the top. When you get up there
they open the cage door and toss the slack cord out. I wasn't ready for how heavy it was.
When they tossed it the weight felt like it was pulling me right out of the cage. It scared the crap out of me.
Good way to start. So I stood up and walked to the edge and looked over. If you go bungee jumping
don't do that. It scared the crap out of me also. You're supposed to dive so of course I do more of a
I'm trying to fly thing. On the video after I jump it's kind of funny. There are two screams (heard loudly).
The first was at the top of the jump. It was a deep (oh' shit) kind of scream and the other was at the bottom.
When I bounced back up and realized I was going to live it was a high pitched exhuberant kind of scream.
The only bad thing was the way I jumped. At the bottom I was kind of spead eagle and got whipped downward
resulting in a sore back for about three weeks. I probably won't do it again. It was a little freaky. PEACE!

My first time in an airplane was my first(last) time jumping out of one. Actually you climb out on the wing at 10,500ft. with
two guides. Not an easy task considering wind speed is how fast the plane is going which was 80 mph.. Then it's UP(stand
upright), DOWN(chest to strut you're holding onto), and GO(step off backwards). After that it's freefall for over a mile(6000ft.).
A guide on each side of me but I had my own chute, for advanced not beginner's but hey, you only die once(LOL). The only thing that
I remember during freefall was the hand signals from the guides. It's funny how your mind leaves you when you're falling towards
the ground at 120 mph.. I checked my altimiter at 5000 ft, supposed to pull at 5500ft(oops), I started to pull but the guide was
already pulling it. The most common problem after the chute opens is that the cords are twisted. I was hoping mine weren't.
They were(LOL). I twisted to get out of it and nothing. I'm on my own now, no guides. It was a little freaky but I twisted harder the
second time and I came out of it. After that it was like soaring like a bird. The freefall lasted 37 seconds but I got to float around for
12 minutes. It was the ultimate adrenaline rush. I got to live every kid's dream. I got to fly(or so it seemed).
