Burnt Offerings - all I know is that Meredith Burgess is in it. Great actor both in serious and comedic roles. "Foul Play" with Chevy and Goldie?

I just tried to look it up. The list of names didn't say who played the husband, but I remember he had strange eyes.

[guidogodoy] Sunday, October 19, 2008 3:42:38 AM
Thanks for that memory. Just jotted it down. I always like to have a couple of good Halloween films. That is now a must-get for this year. That pool scene where pop was a little loco was GREAT!

To me the newer horror films are all about gore and that just turns me off. Give me an interesting story, a mystery, and somebodies neck to bury my eyes in when things get too scary and I'll watch.
[guidogodoy] Sunday, October 19, 2008 3:37:45 AM
Oh, good one. Burnt Offerings was great. Scared the crap out of me as well. Just like the classic scene of the vampire / kid scratching the window in Salem's Lot. Gave me nightmares.

Horror movies are not really my thing. I do remember when I was younger I enjoyed that genre more. A standout would have to be Halloween and it's sequels. Also Psycho. Do you remember one that scared the hell out of me as a kid, I think it was called Burnt Offerings?

Devil's Rejects.
Dawn of the Dead (new).
John Carpenter's The Thing.
While I love the old ones, you asked which we can watch again and again. There you have some of my staples.

Richard Dawson on The Family Fued! Wow! Your right, the magic was definately lost. Whether it had anything to do with kissing the ladies or not I don't know.

I remember Matchgame! Now that was a game show!  I don't like or watch any of the current game/reality shows. Yeah they're giving away money, and who wouldn't like that. But where's the game?
Matchgame was hysterical, especially when it got a little dirty! But dirty back then was still clean, compared to today, where nothing is left to the imagination.

so... are any of you into horror movies? if so what scares you? the old ones or the new ones? do you have a favorite that you can watch over and over?
[guidogodoy] Sunday, October 19, 2008 3:09:42 AM
Come on. How about the king of drunken gameshows?  Richard Dawson! Show just lost something when it was deemed inappropriate to smooch the ladies.

[guidogodoy] Sunday, October 19, 2008 3:06:54 AM
Uhhh...yeah bro. We were all just watching the same show (for example), lol!

That is one of biggest differences I see. Where you get shock value humor in these newer ones, the older Roasts were cleaner but damn funnier. I ask you, is there any comparison between Jerry Lewis and Andy Dick?! It is almost like they have to laugh at his idiocy as most would probably just punch him otherwise.

here a game show that was fun and funny, Matchgame!  remember it,most of the stars were drinking or drunk,so it seemed. the show really worked, because they sometimes had very dirty minds, lol.

lisa lampanelli is pretty raw for a female comedian? anyone seen her? she is on comedy central roasts alot lately.

The best thing that absolute TOOL Jimmy Kimmel has ever done was to put Priest on his show. It was painful to watch up until their segment. Prophecy, who woulda thunk it.   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by caronctm from Sunday, October 19, 2008 2:58:15 AM)

I think I've seen what you mentioned, Time Life I believe has put one of those collections together and sells them on late night infomercials.

Oh those old Johnny Carson shows were the best!  Late night t.v. has never been the same. David Letterman has his moments, so does Jay Leno, but neither come close to Johnny. I dislike Jimmy Kimmel and Conan OBrian. Craig Ferguson is pretty funny.

Since I had to stop my Priest DVD to take that screenshot, I just HAD to join you two with some tri-state Comedy Central bonding! LOL!! This was a good one. Some really stink and, like SNL are a weak throwback to the original Fryer's Club Roasts. Dean Martin was just too damn funny! How 'bout that for one classic funny guy?   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by VICTIM OF METAL from Sunday, October 19, 2008 2:29:55 AM)
