DIO!! DIO!! DIO!! Get well soon!!! [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Bazookajoe_666 from Thursday, December 10, 2009 11:15:28 PM) | | Bazookajoe_666 wrote: | | Dio's First Chemo Treatment Successful
Legendary heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio (DIO, HEAVEN & HELL, BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW) was diagnosed with the early stages of stomach cancer and is currently receiving treatment at the Mayo Clinic. His wife/manager Wendy Dio has issued the following update on Ronnie's condition:
"Well, it has been a very exhausting month. After all the never-ending tests in Los Angeles, we flew to the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, and as soon as we arrived, we got a call from the MD Anderson Hospital that they had an appointment for us with the doctor we originally wanted, so we then flew to Houston to the clinic, and, of course, MORE tests, but Ronnie finished receiving his first chemo treatment on Wednesday, and all is going very well.
"I would like to thank Tony Martell from the T.J. Martell Foundation, Dr. Stuart Aaronson from Mount Sinai, Lindsay Brown and Mike Carden from Eagle Records, and our very own Dr. Sandeep Kapoor, for all your help in getting us into MD Anderson, and also our friends Geezer and Gloria Butler, who flew to Houston to be with Ronnie while he had his chemo.
"Ronnie and I are totally overwhelmed by the amount of well wishes that we have received from friends and fans — we are reading them all. Some make us laugh, some make us cry, but all of them are so filled with love that it gives us so much support and makes Ronnie even more determined to fight this battle and win.
"Thank you all for the positive energy and prayers."
According to a posting on the BLACK SABBATH fan site Black-Sabbath.com, fans can send get-well cards to Ronnie James Dio through the official fan club address:

KK Downing Video Blog
A new guitar-related video blog from JUDAS PRIEST guitarist K.K. Downing filmed few weeks ago in Finland has been posted on his official YouTube channel. Check out K.K. introducing a classic instrument from the past below.
JUDAS PRIEST's August 17, 2009 performance at the Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida was filmed for a DVD that will be included in a forthcoming expanded 30th-anniversary edition of their 1980 classic, "British Steel".
As they have done at all of their U.S. summer dates this year, PRIEST performed the "British Steel" album in its entirety at the Seminole Hard Rock Arena.
JUDAS PRIEST kicked off its "British Steel" 30th-anniversary tour on June 29 at the Murat Theatre in Indianapolis, Indiana. Halford told Noisecreep, "It's like suddenly, thirty years have come upon us and we're about to celebrate. The album's technical anniversary is April of next year, but want to start the party early."
Halford added, "In today's economy, all artists have to think of something to do differently. We decided that this would be a great opportunity to do something that PRIEST has never done before, which is to play an album in its entirety. The band and the name 'JUDAS PRIEST' have both been around since 1969, so it is our fortieth anniversary, too. We seem to be in a constant celebration mode!"

Dimebag Tribute Album Info Released
The complete track listing has been revealed for the forthcoming "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott (PANTERA, DAMAGEPLAN) tribute album, which will be released on the cover of the 200th issue of U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine. The CD and the magazine, which will coincide with the five-year anniversary of Dimebag's passing, will be made available on December 16.
The "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott tribute album will include the following artists/cuts:
01. ZAKK WYLDE - "Suicide Note Pt. 1"
02. MACHINE HEAD - "Fucking Hostile"
03. MALEFICE - "I'm Broken"
04. AVENGED SEVENFOLD - "Walk"
05. EVILE - "Cemetery Gates"
06. FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH - "A New Level"
07. BIOHAZARD - "Mouth For War"
08. SYLOSIS - "Strength Beyond Strength"
09. CHIMAIRA - "Slaughtered"
10. UNEARTH - "Sandblasted Skin"
11. THROWDOWN - "Becoming"
12. KIUAS - "This Love"
13. THIS IS HELL - "Rise"
AVENGED SEVENFOLD's "Walk" audio stream:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7PIhpySka4&feature=player_embedded#at=62
MACHINE HEAD frontman Robb Flynn told Metal Hammer about the band's decision to cover the "Vulgar Display Of Power" classic "Fucking Hostile", "It was either that or 'Strength Beyond Strength' from 'Far Beyond Driven'. In the end, we decided that we wanted to do a classic. We chose 'Fucking Hostile' because it’s two and a half minutes of pure, raging metal. It's short, fast and brutal."
He continued, "There's some real intricate riffing parts in there. We'd jammed it before but we'd never sat down and analyzed it properly. I think we did a great job on it."
The song by EVILE turned out to be bassist Mike Alexander's very last and was recorded just before he himself died of a pulmonary embolism, a blockage of an artery in the lung, on October 5, 2009 while on tour with the band in Sweden.
"Dimebag" Darrell Abbott was co-founder and lead guitarist for PANTERA. When PANTERA broke up in 2003, Dimebag and his brother Vinnie Paul formed DAMAGEPLAN. On Dec. 8, 2004, while performing with DAMAGEPLAN at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio, Dimebag was shot and killed onstage by Nathan Gale. He was 38 years old.

New Upcoming ACDC DVD
According to 10Musica.com, AC/DC's three sold-out shows at the River Plate Stadium in Buenos Aires, Argentina on December 2, 3 and 6 (65,000 capacity each) will be filmed for a future DVD release. Additional footage at the stadium will be shot on Saturday, December 5 without the presence of an audience.
AC/DC arrived in Buenos Aires on Sunday, November 29.
AC/DC released a limited-edition box set called "Backtracks" on November 10. The set, which comes in two versions, was made available only through the ACDCBacktracks.com web site. As previously speculated, the "deluxe" package is housed inside a fully operational AC/DC amplifier and comes in a limited, autographed run of 50,000 copies. Included in the set are three CDs of live and studio rarities, two DVDs, a vinyl LP also containing studio rarities, a 164-page coffee table book, fine art lithographs of rare photos, a reproduction of an early AC/DC concert flyer and other memorabilia, including a button, guitar pick, and more.
A standard edition features two CDs of live and studio material, a single DVD plus bonus videos.
The first DVD is the long-awaited video compilation "Family Jewels 3", which rounds up the group's music videos, live performances, and promotional clips from 1992 to 2009. The second DVD, "Live At The Circus Krone", captures a complete club show that the band played in Munich in 2003.
Among the studio rarities included in the set are alternate versions of a number of early AC/DC tracks, as well as the never-before-released "Love Song", possibly the only ballad the band ever wrote with original singer Bon Scott. |

Agree. They reckon that wankstain from Buckcherry is in line for the vocalist spot. When I was in Canada I saw Buckcherry open for Motley Crue, they were fucking abysmal. Imagine Aerosmith doing their 40th anniversary tour with him at the mike, embarrasing. Especially after 39 and half years with Tyler at the helm. They should do what Van Halen did when Hagar left and Priest should have done when Halford left. Get Gary Charone!!! If he's not available Deep Freeze could fill in.. Ov Hell Debut Album Info Released
OV HELL, the new black metal project featuring DIMMU BORGIR vocalist Shagrath and ex-GORGOROTH bassist King, has completed work on its debut album, "The Underworld Regime", for a February 2010 release via Indie Recordings. The CD was recorded at Earshot Studio and features Shagrath on vocals, King on bass, Frost (SATYRICON) on drums, Ice Dale (ENSLAVED) on guitar and Teloch (NIDINGR, GOD SEED) on guitar. The album was produced by Herbrand Larsen and mastered at the Livingroom studios by Espen Berg and Shagrath in November 2009. King composed all of the music for "The Underworld Regime", while Shagrath wrote all lyrics, with contributions from Silenoz and Sarah Owens.
"The Underworld Regime" track listing:
01. Devil’s Harlot
02. Post Modern Sadist
03. Invoker
04. Perpetual Night
05. Ghosting
06. Acts of Sin
07. Krigsatte Faner
08. Hill Norge
Commented Shagrath: "The majestic OV HELL has become a band that reflects our roots — raw, ugly, arrogantly blasphemous — with uncompromising truth from two influential Norwegian musicians needing to express our primitive side, straight out OV HELL."
Added King: "It's been a little hell to actually see this music form into a band, but when I'm now listening to the final result, it has been worth the hard work we have put into this album!"
Two rough-mix sample tracks from "The Underworld Regime" can be heard on the band's MySpace page.
In a recent interview with MetalNews.pl, King stated about OV HELL's debut album, "It is always hard to describe your own music and it usually ends up like meaningless self-promotion of your own album. It will, however, contain music most people would define as black metal. I'm not claiming we have reinvented the wheel, but I don't think have heard any band to date we could be seen as copycats of. I have not heard all the bands in the world and can, of course, be mistaken.
"The album will contain a mixture of our different musical preferences and the personalities involved, which hopefully will lead to something original and new. I have to say, though, that I am more occupied of developing myself spiritually and musically than strive to be viewed as original by fans."
"The will to relive 1994 in black metal these days should be against all that black metal is all about. Presenting others' art and ideas almost 15 years later, mostly based on nostalgic reflections, show that you don't have the capacity to adapt to your own chaos and so on develop to a strong individual unique being. Recycling your own ideas will show that you are not capable of change and in other words should be viewed as dead.
"A person who is not able to change opinions, learn from his mistakes and have the ability to grow and change should not shout for people's attention but be quiet.
"I am grateful that I have had musicians with me on this record that do NOT possess these qualities."
