I thank you both and all others who have been posting articles / interviews on the subject. Much appreicated.

Like most, I am just trying to make some sort of sense of this shitty situation.

JUDAS PRIEST Drummer: The Fans Want Us To Go On (Video) - Apr. 21, 2011
The Artisan News Service conducted a short interview with JUDAS PRIEST drummer Scott Travis at the third annual Revolver Golden Gods Awards, which took place last night (Wednesday, April 20) at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles, California. When asked for an update on the just-announced departure of the band's original guitarist, K.K. Downing, Travis replied, "The update is in the press release [which came out Wednesday morning], so you know as much as I do. But you have to have the burning desire in your heart, in my opinion, to play heavy metal music."

He added, "We all start at a young age and it's not because of money, fame or girls — you start because you love the music. So if he's not feeling that anymore, then I give him props for taking himself out of the game, basically."

When asked about the remaining JUDAS PREST members' decision to go ahead with their previously announced tour plans with a replacement guitarist — 31 year-old British guitar player Richie Faulkner (LAUREN HARRIS, DIRTY DEEDS) — Travis said, "It's never an easy decision to replace any longtime bandmember, but PRIEST is almost like its own machine, and the fans want PRIEST to continue, we want it to continue, and we have to go on. K.K.… I can't speak for him, but we have to go on; that's all."

Downing released a statement earlier today blaming his departure from JUDAS PRIEST on "an ongoing breakdown in working relationship between myself, elements of the band, and the band's management for some time." He added that he "decided to step down rather than to tour with negative sentiments as I feel that this would be a deception to . . . our cherished fans."

Bing: Van Halen video, photos and more

Though no official announcement has been made, producer John Shanks tweeted about starting the project last week and shared aVan Halen working on new album with Roth

By Matthew Perpetua
Rollingstone.com

Van Halen have entered the studio to record their first album in 27 years with original frontman David Lee Rothphotograph of Eddie Van Halen's distinctive guitar amp. Shanks, who has recorded albums with Bon JoviJane's Addiction and Fleetwood Mac, had been rumored as the producer for the new album for some time.

Besides contributing two tracks to the band's 1996 greatest hits album, this will be Roth's first appearance on a Van Halen record since 1984 (released in January 1984). Still, it will not be a full-on band reunion. Roth-era bassist Michael Anthony is still absent from the group, and was replaced by Eddie's 19-year-old son Wolfgang Van Halen around the time Roth rejoined the band in 2007.

It is said the imitation is the best form of flatery..but the band Stryper did not do justice to Judas Priest's 'Breaking the Law'. Some bands should just stop playing music and take up other careers.

Judas Priest New World Tour

As you may already be aware Priest have announced a fair well world tour beginning this summer, for details and dates please visit judaspriest.com.

We are all excited about the tour and are currently having meetings to discuss the stage production, but above all the set list. We intend to include some classic priest songs that we haven`t played before and of course the old favourites that every body will want to hear. Stay tuned for further updates.

To put every ones mind at rest this is by no means the end of the band, in fact we are presently writing new material, but we do intend this to be the last major world tour.

ROB HALFORD Doesn't Want Fans To Be Sad About JUDAS PRIEST's Upcoming Farewell Tour - Jan. 11, 2011
Steven Patrick of Uweekly.com recently conducted an interview with JUDAS PRIEST/HALFORD frontman Rob Halford. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

Uweekly.com: Pat Lachman, he was one of your guitarists in HALFORD, who went on to front the band DAMAGEPLAN. This being a Columbus, Ohio, paper and the Dimebag tragedy still fresh in our memory, I'm sure metal fans in the area would like to know how he's doing and what he's up to. Do you stay in contact with him?

Halford: I'll be seeing Pat soon. I think he's living in Dallas now. I got an e-mail from him the other day and I hope to be seeing him in the next couple of weeks. I don't really know what he's doing musically, but when I see him I'll be asking him obviously. He's an incredibly talented guitar player, but a great voice as well. I certainly hope he's still working. He's got everything that he needs to be a great metal musician.

Uweekly.com: I wouldn't be able to call myself a metal fan if I didn't ask about the news that JUDAS PRIEST will be doing a farewell tour in 2011. What brought that on? Was it just time?

Halford: Yeah, I think it's time, you know. We're not the first band to say farewell, it's just the way everyone comes to at some point and we're gonna say a few more things early next year, so I think the main thing that we just want to ask everybody to consider is don't be sad about this, start celebrating and rejoicing over all the great things we've done in JUDAS PRIEST.

Uweekly.com: Does this news mean that HALFORD will be getting more of your attention in the future?

Halford: Yeah, I've always said regardless of anything else that's going on when time permits and when there's no conflict with PRIEST, I love to do what I do with the HALFORD band, so that really hasn't changed at all.

Read the entire interview at Uweekly.com.

Well then how can we not be sad then?

MOTÖRHEAD's new album, "The Wörld Is Yours", will be released in North America on February 8, 2011.

Audio samples of all the tracks that appear on "The Wörld Is Yours", can be found on Amazon.de (scroll down).

"The Wörld Is Yours" is a vital, scorching statement of intent from MOTÖRHEAD as they launch Motörhead Music, their very first record label.

Written and performed by Lemmy Kilmister, Philip Campbell and Mikkey Dee in both Los Angeles, California and Wales, with production once again by Cameron Webb, "The Wörld Is Yours" serves to remind everyone that you should never stop questioning or critiquing a society that would surely chew you up and spit you if given half a chance. And with 10 soul-scorching testaments to the unbridled power this world-famous trio continually maintain, "The Wörld Is Yours" delivers some of the finest, most important Motörmusic yet.

On instant classics such as "Get Back In Line", Kilmister thunders that "The way we are is not the way we used to be my friend," and "We are trapped in luxury, starving on parole, no-one told us who to love, we have sold our souls," whilst on "Brotherhood Of Man" Kilmister roars "You cannot hide the truth from me I know what?s in your heart, greed and jealousy each equal, all your days now dark." And with the defiant, uproarious "Rock 'N' Roll Music", Kilmister and Co. remind everyone that "rock and roll music is the true religion" and "rock and roll even gonna set you free, make the lame walk and the blind see."

Recorded during the late spring, the album's creation was thrown into turmoil by the poor health and sad eventual passing of Philip Campbell's father; the situation dictated that Philip needed to be home during some of the scheduled recording time, so MOTÖRHEAD hired a studio in Wales where Campbell was able to continue working on ideas and record tracks whilst first Mikkey and Lemmy, and then just Lemmy, laid down the rest of the album in L.A. But being MOTÖRHEAD, nothing fazed them, and with "The Wörld Is Yours" the band have triumphed over adversity to produce an absolute stormer of an album.

"The Wörld Is Yours" track listing:

01. Born To Lose
02. I Know How To Die
03. Get Back In Line
04. Devil's In My Head
05. Rock 'N' Roll Music
06. Waiting For The Snake
07. Brotherhood Of Man
08. Outlaw
09. I Know What You Need
10. Bye Bye Bitch Bye Bye

They lost it in 1986 with Turbo. After having Defenders i remember waiting and thinking we were going to get an awesome album,no,Turbo.I still remember how shocked alot of us were in 86. After that, that was it. 1990 bought Painkiller but for me i can't get into that album that much! Defenders is where my favorite Priest era is,they were flying high back then! Retribution i like alot and i don't mind Nostradamus! But,it all changed after the Defenders tour in 84,everyone was going big hair and silly stage clothes.Very sad! So nowadays i buy European Black and Death metal, very heavy and it is my cup of tea! Cheers everyone! I too was hoping for at least one more album! Yeah like I said spapad they "made the Muhammad Ali syndrome" on themselves by recording and touring the Nostradamus album!!!!  They are whining about "we don't want to look silly or weak"....yet they make Nostradamus and how soft and unheavy metal it really is then try to tour it? LOL!

I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to tell them that if they would of made a Painkiller album for thier last album and tour it wouldn't come close to having a Muhammad Ali syndrome because of the heaviness of the album and songs ....."duh".  This band is losing it!!  Maybe they have already "lost it".

Yeah, I know. But then again, I remember them saying that they never want to put on a bad show, ever. So I understand why they want to retire from touring. I don't think any of us have a problem with that and completely understand. It HAS to be difficult to tour the schedule that they do! It's the question of "is Priest done for good?" or is it just the end of touring that they don't really answer. Will there be more albums to come? I certainly hope so because they have a lot left in them I think. When Rob says that they have more to say, I hope he means song writing and not another "big announcement".

And whats funny is what Halford says about the Muhammad Ali syndrome: "If you get in the ring too much, the whole thing can become really sad to look at and to listen to and you have to ensure that doesn't happen as a musician, especially in the extreme world of heavy metal".

And I'm thinking : "But Rob,K.K. and Glenn....thats what you just did with the Nostradamus album and tour!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"    With his comments, wouldn't you think that they would want to create something fucking "heavy" while they are pushing 60 years old to go out ontop with?? I think the guys in Priest are "losing it" Guido.....somebody needs to get ahold of K.K. and Glenn and wake them the fuck up!!

ROB HALFORD On JUDAS PRIEST's Farewell Tour: We Want To Leave On Respectable Terms - Dec. 16, 2010
George Varga of SignOnSanDiego.com recently conducted an interview with JUDAS PRIEST/HALFORD frontman Rob Halford. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

SignOnSanDiego.com: Does it feel like the start of a new chapter with the second decade of the HALFORD band starting, and the looming end of an old chapter, with JUDAS PRIEST having recently announced its farewell tour in 2011?

Halford: I suppose the way I perceive my life as a musician is that I'll just continue doing what I've always done. Of course, the bulk of my metal life has been with JUDAS PRIEST, and, yes, we are making this farewell tour next year and probably into 2012. But we do have a few more things we want to say. What we'd rather do, for the time being, is let this information settle, because its very big news for a lot of fans. So, we want to let the firestorm settle down. For all intents and purposes, it is the farewell tour.

SignOnSanDiego.com: Why?

Halford: I don't know, really. It really is for a lot of reasons. I suppose retirement or slowing down, if you want to call it that, I don't know. I think you have to face mortality, that's for sure. Some bands keep going and going, some bands ease off a bit, and some bands stop altogether. It happens to all bands, eventually, and now this is something we're facing in JUDAS PRIEST. So, what we want to do is leave on what we feel are respectable terms, musically.

SignOnSanDiego.com: But JUDAS PRIEST is still playing well and sounding good and continues to be popular around much of the world. Why quit now?

Halford: It's what I call the "Muhammad Ali syndrome." If you get in the ring too much, the whole thing can become really sad to look at and listen to. And you have to ensure that doesn't happen as a musician, especially in the extreme world of heavy metal, because it's very demanding to carry these old bodies all over the place. You try to do the things you could easily do 30 years ago and it's not so easy. What we would like our fans to do is consider that this something to celebrate and not feel sad or depressed about. It won't be all over in a flash.

SignOnSanDiego.com: Does this mean you'll be cutting back from performing with the HALFORD band, too?

Halford: I don't really know. Again, in regards to the comment I made regarding making sure you can go into it and give the kind of performance you do, without letting the fans down — I'm having a great time. Vocally, I'm very strong; I have a lot of energy and I'm doing all the things that are important. So, it's only right to treat both bands respectfully and differently. So, my intention, no matter where I go and what I do, is to keep making metal on personal level.

Just saw this and thought it was great that Priest got mentioned!

Let's take a moment to get inside Brad Pitt's pants, shall we?

For a man, leather pants are usually best reserved for those occasions when your metal band is finally getting its shot to open for Judas Priest.

Hey Nostradamus contained just about every single music outing Priest has ever done. Except like Point of Entry and Turbo haha. Plus it covered some new ground as well, as most Priest records do. It is a VERY metal record.

Lets hope they completely forget about Nostrasamus and move on to record a real Heavy Metal cd that contains a metal swagger like "Painkiller" or "Unleashed in the East". And not wait two or four years from now to release it. Ha!

As for the tour dates? I would assume its a European tour, mainly festivals in the late spring and summer. They all talked about bringing the British Steel tour to Europe. Maybe it'll finally happy? Maybe they'll finally do a Nostradamus show or two?!?!? :D:D

ROB HALFORD Says JUDAS PRIEST Will Announce Its Touring Plans In December

Kory Grow of Revolver magazine recently conducted an interview with JUDAS PRIEST/HALFORD frontman Rob Halford.

Revolver: Do you find it hard to break away from JUDAS PRIEST with your solo music?

Halford: I'm lucky I got a fairly wide range of what I can do with my voice. But it still belongs to JUDAS PRIEST. My voice belongs to JUDAS PRIEST and it always will, as it should. It's like when you hear Robert Plant singing, Oh, that's the LED ZEPPELIN dude. If Bruce Dickinson did some solo work, Oh, that's the IRON MAIDEN dude. If Vince Neil did some solo work, Oh, that's the MÖTLEY CRÜE dude. There's nothing to be ashamed of, nothing to worry about. It's just an instrument, and you use it as best you can in the places that you need to.

Revolver: What did you do differently with HALFORD than with PRIEST?

Halford: I write lyrics differently, just because I can't sing about me being clean and sober for 25 years ["Twenty-Five Years"] on a PRIEST record. That would be completely wrong. And the other songs, like "We Own the Night", anything that has a really personal, intimate type of reflection, lyrically, would be out of place in another place. Besides that, I think we're just a band that has our own take on what we do with the metal we write and perform live. I think if you see us live, as hopefully you might get a chance to see when we come through, it's great man.

Revolver: Any plans with PRIEST?

Halford: Yeah, I was talking to PRIEST's management the other day. We had a chitchat about things. We're putting together some shows, we're going to be booked out extensively through 2011 and most of '12. We've got some other things poking around in the fire. And we will be disclosing those through the website. Look for that in December.

Read the entire interview from Revolver magazine.

Ozzy did a good job last night also.  similar set to vancouver.  Halford kicked ASS!!  he started at 725 with 730 printed on the tickets, was playing to about 5 people for the first song.  ok, a few more, but the place looked empty.  I could see QT in the front row, I had crappy seats on the side, best I could aford at the time.  Rob was in good voice, all the songs sounded great, but if I never hear the line "Supersonic silver....." I would be happy.  Jawbreaker sounded awesome.  wish he had played longer.

Ozzy was a lot louder, and his sound was not perfect at first, but they tweeked it and it was ok.  a bit of feedback ocasionaly, and WAYYY to much bass.

If I get close enough Spa, I'll send you some of Rob's sweat as you requested! We are front row center in Grand Rapids. I just hope Ozzy doesn't point that nozzle at me too much, the crazy bastard! LOL! When we saw Ozzy two years ago at Joe Louis arena, he foamed me like mad. I think he was trying to see how high he could pile the foam on top of my head! The bass player at the time took pity on me and handed me a towel. I looked like Marge Simpson with white hair! The worst part was that the foam got into my beer and I had to pitch an almost full one - so sad....

I'm only reading three slow songs on the whole list.

Guess that's the big question, isn't it? What will they be touring next year? Maybe the rest of Judas Priest really was at work this year writing music while Rob was making Made of Metal!! If that's true, then there's a chance that JP might release a new album next year!! It's a slight chance, but you never know!!
