I so wish I hadn't made some of my earlier posts. I'm getting it now. to hear(read) you're post. 40 years behind the scenes creating some of the finest metal one's ears

to see beyond the mainstream and pick up on the GREATEST metal band of our time.

I have read three reviews on last night's Grammys from three different "major" news sources. I was reading the infamous "Best and Worst" of the Grammys material. Not ONE of them mentioned Priest. NOT ONE! All kinds of "finally" this and that for people like Neil Young but not one word about Judas Priest. They bury the category in the "pre-cast", make NO mention of it that I saw and not one "informational source" even mentions the winner.
Interestingly enough, this is not necessarily a "bad" thing. Surely, whomever it is that makes the decisions at these ceremonies will never live down that "Jethro Tull" incident anyway so it would stand to reason that they simply avoid the category all together, unless Metallica wins for the umpteenth time and the "mainstream" media can go on about how "cool" they are and whatnot. A local anchorman here in Vegas ran a clip of Metallica and was going on about how "great" they are and all but I still have NO idea why the clip was shown on the morning newscast, as it had nothing to do with the news at the moment.
Perhaps we should take solace in the fact that Metal is, by and large, still a relatively ignored and misunderstood genre in the mainstream world. God knows they screw it up EVERYTIME they try to report on it or otherwise discuss it anyway. When a nerdy, local news guy that owns cats and lives alone starts talking about Heavy Metal music during his broadcasts, I fear we are heading down a very, very bad road. Better to live in obscurity and enjoy the true form of our music than have it commercialized and trivialized by the idiots on television that think Metallica are the poster-children of the genre. |

Not a fan of the Pro Bowl, NBA All Star or even the MLB All Star games. I watch usually because there is nothing else on that interests me. The NBA is the worst of all , for me.
