Queensryche Part Ways With Geoff Tate, Name Todd La Torre New Singer
After recent rumblings of tension and rumored incidents, veteran rockers Queensryche have parted ways with singer Geoff Tate. They’ve announced that Crimson Glory’s Todd La Torre is their new singer and have put their current tour dates on hold while they work on revised routing.
Queensryche drummer and band founder Scott Rockenfield explains the split. “Over the past few months, there have been growing creative differences within Queensryche. We want our fans to know that we hoped to find a common resolution, but in the end parting ways with Geoff was the best way for everyone to move forward in a positive direction. We wish him the best of luck with all of his future endeavors. We can’t wait to bring Queensryche to our fans with Todd behind the microphon
The new lineup already played two shows in Seattle under the name Rising West before Tate’s exit was official. The now former lead singer had to play as a solo artist when opening for the Scorpions last week in Utah after the rest of the band withdrew from the show. He already had solo acoustic shows planned for the summer along with a new solo album.
Replacing any vocalist is a big risk, especially when it is somebody as iconic as Tate, who had been in Queensryche since 1982 and was the voice behind all their hits. However, perhaps it’s one of those situations where both the band and Tate will end up better off in the long run.

I heard it on the Boneyard (sorry...OZZY'S Boneyard) last night but only caught half the announcement. Even came home looking for news on the internet.
Thanks for the post. Best I could find last night was that the band was reforming without Tate! Same as kicking him out, IMO.

Agree with Bud. If you want TRUE origins of Metal, look to the blues and, as Bud said, to 17th, 18th century and 19th century composers.
Fuel for the argument? Cite the series, "Metal Evolution, Headbanger's Journey." Nary a mention of the Beatles.
I hope you were arguing that whomever said "No Beatles, No Priest" was crazy.
The Beatles may have been an influence to pop or rock but I don't believe they influenced metal
much at all. Yeah they had a few heavy songs at the time but they were not the only ones. I would
give credit to the old blues guy's as major influences. Listen to some old blues and notice how it
has the early signs of "grinding" or "sludgy" sounding guitar. It definitely started the early rock and roll
which ultimately led to metal. I guess The Beatles could have been an early influence to some but
blues layed the groundwork that created heavy music. If you want to take it a step further there was
some pretty bassy and heavy sounding classical music from the 15 and 16 hundreds. I think this was
the first stuff classified devil music because of the deep bass. F#ck the Beatles, hail Beethoven.
(strictly opinion)(only matters to me)

Ah, just drink the whole bottle of Listerene with lime and probably end up in the hospital getting your stomach pumped. LOL You'd be passed out cold, but you'd have the best breath in at least three states.
If only that Listerine bottle had similar instructions. I wouldn't have had to spend 30 minutes of my time in the bathroom last night debating to myself whether the brushing or the mouthwash-rinsing part should go first.

..can i just say that a decent over-strength whisky eradicates the need for brushing/flossing/rinsing...lol (also eventually rots ur teeth away)...so = the all round dental plan.

You RINSE with mouthwash?
I thought it was just to drink when you run out of vodka....
(true answer, after)
I have a question that's been bothering me for a while.
Do you rinse your mouth with mouthwash before or after brushing your teeth?
[Budred] Wednesday, June 13, 2012 4:17:12 AM
I use mouthwash on occasion. I use it after I brush.
It may just be in my mind but to me it seems like you would brush away the mouthwash
if you use it before. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Vaillant 3.0 from Wednesday, June 13, 2012 12:29:36 AM)

For your entertainment (and to put up when you make your meal from Brazil) a single pic from the other side of the Bay of Guanabara. Pretty dangerous spot to pull out a camera but the view was just too much. The "flying saucer" object you see is the MAC (Modern Art Museum) on the side of Niterói where I took the shot. Look to the upper right and you'll see Corcorvado (statue of Christ) all lit up. Rare shot. As I say, violent city across the bay. View of Rio is just the greatest, though.
Cheers, mate.

I am almost sure that is where he said he did it. He said it was a national park and quite a hike! He is from Rio I believe. One hell of a great guy too!! He said his brother-in-law made him do it, HAHAHA! But damn it looked like a BLAST!
If your friend / engineer made an "asa-delta" (hang glider) jump from Rio, I bet 100 Reais that it was from Tijuca. Highest point in Rio with a platform to do such a thing. Climbed it years ago as it is a national park.
Next time you see him, mention Tijuca (said pretty much the way it is spelled /Tijuka). I am sure he'll freak out as it is NOT very tourist-friendly. Beautiful beyond words, though.

Just coming in from Rio, I have NO idea how they are going to host the World Cup and the Olympics. There is just no way. I stay on the other side of the Bay of Guanabara (non-tourist; violent city of Niterói) where a 14 km bridge connects one side to the other. I left at 6pm ... um .... yesterday (?) and it took an hour + just to cross the bridge!

As it stands, I don't know who is "más burro," Backstreet Merch or me who keeps ordering from them.

Sorry to hear about the posters. Unfortunately things can only get downhill from here unless the band finishes its last album soon. Next thing you know they'll be wrapping merch in plastic bags and ship them by donkey.
To boot, I am still pissed about the shitty packaging of both the poster and the box set.
I don't blame JP one bit. I blame the idiots "managing" this end of their business. Market the boxset to those who already own everything and not spend more than a cent in wrapping so it arrives dented?! TWO posters now unusable. Had to send me two Epitaph mugs due to a screwup?
Management and their choice in merchandising partners. Not the band. 'Nuff said.

While I understand the Metal God to be an expected outcome of "Baxtergate," it now seems to be spilling over here. No emails (knock on wood) but listing "NEW merch?" I ask again, IS there any?
So you have an admirer in Winnipeg? How cute! I can only chalk the new posts on his behalf to love for you.
the merch sales are annoying me. blocked the metal god from email me.

Speaking of "merch," anyone else catch the new post to "new merch available" on this site in the "news" here?
Just looks like the same old merch, bundling and "on sale" items. Someone correct me if I am wrong but what, exactly, is NEW merch?!
As Necro said, looks more like a clearinghouse to me.

Just my opinion...but ain't the Halford site gone a bit OTT commercial? FFS - i thought it was about music...not crap over-priced merchandise...and the 'Live CD with $30 orders'? please...it'll be on fileshare soon anyway...if it ain't already. Get with it Rob...

Maniee, there, has been interviewed about his collection twice. kkdowning.net/downingstreet/fanprofile_markus2011.html

We know Spa, he was just teasing. Can't wait to see the house when it is finished!! I agree though, the cross that KK wore seemed to be custom made because I've never seen one like it either. KK's seems to have a longer shaft, BWAAHAHAHAAA! But to think that upside down cross might have been in Rob's presence just makes me smile
I think KK's cross is a custom cast. Not seen anything like that or I would want it. BY THE WAY HYMTL! I did not place a single bid on any of those jackets. I'm in the middle of building a house.................I have even less money that I normally have (which is not much), which means I'm more than poor.

Those do look pretty close and would explain why the one has the hole in the wrong end so they could hang upside down on his coat. Does this mean that I can dream that they perhaps were in his presence? On a totally unrelated note, since the Priest will be on hiatus soon, perhaps we should start a collection of JP items through the years, unless of course there is a catalog of Judas Priest Memorabilia in my Newb experience that I do not know about. Heck I got a Godzilla one right... over here.. I know that there are ones for the records and CD's but for pins, necklaces, wristbands and such? Surely there is someone out there with a collection of JP items and publishing skills to help us assemble an online tome of JP artifacts on this board. (Not to mention a few "insiders" that could just say that "hey that pendant was released in 1990 and Rob had some put on his Painkiller coat just like Scott put the re-issue British Steel blades on his pants" Might give people a reason to be on here and compare notes. (Steps off Soap box)

i actually meant the tuning fork itself but maybe the razorblade too. LOL. They are the trademarked ones releasesd in 1990 and after seeing the picture of Rob and KK on the steel mill thought that I would throw it out there for the fellow fans to authenticate. His may have been custom. I like the upside down one best. They were rescued from an auction along with a few other pieces I will post later. I could not afford the leather jackets that Spa probably got HAH! As far as the quality, they were made in Canada... Oh yeah Thumbs Up for Leela!

------------ Some one left this message on one of my videos. They're from Brazil and I'm curious to what it says.
Of course I can't read it so I was hoping someone would clue me in.

...they are referring to Igor Cavalera (relative of Max, maybe son or nephew, not sure)

Yup. With you 100% with Family Guy (its damn infinite spinnoffs!!! Cleveland Show, American Dad) and the Simpsons haven't made me laugh in quite some time. Doesn't mean I still don't watch from time to time. What I cannot STAND is King of the Hill. Makes me want to cry that the genius behind the first Beavis and Buttheads when that direction. The renewal of the series got me to crack a smile but you can never find it on tv here.

That's what I'm saying, I like robot chicken and I can't believe it's him the one behind such a masterpiece, but I can't stand him as an actor. Regarding family guy, it's just not what it used to be, same as the simpsons and those shows that were killed by the new decade

Didn't like him in any ot the Austin Powers films? Didn't like Robot Chicken? Sure you aren't confusing him with Seth MacFarlane from Family Guy (started off funny) and all the spinoff he now does?
Seth Green is still the driving force behind Robot Chicken.

That explains why you wrote his name, but I still think he's an idiot. Probably that's the only great idea he's had in a lifetime, or maybe I'm biased

Unless you know how to bitorrent.
As for Seth Green, I always had a hard time believing that it was the same "kid" of Dr. Evil in Austin Powers that was a mastermind behind Robot Chicken. Muuuhuuuhuuuu!

No, the cable co. took out the adult swim segment some time ago because they rearranged the channels and now this is a channel for kids exclusively...which means I'm fucked...and that the answer to your question therefore is a "no"

The only redeemable part of Cartoon Network at the moment: Adult Swim. I remember Harvey Birdman! Cool little cartoon. Always liked Seben (I think that's his name? The guy with the eyepatch?).
Say, now I'm curious. Have they released Metalocalypse overthere by any chance?

HA! you and your dinosaur shows! but they are great (very disgusting though), I remember when locomotion was on and the great shows they had, mainly the anime and some violent shows. That's also the first time I ever watched south park. I'll never forget the huge antenna comin' out of cartman's @$$! (Quoting Message by guidogodoy from Monday, May 07, 2012 12:37:40 AM)

"Space madness" episode. Ho ho! Too good! When they brought them back it was too over-the-top. Ruined it.
¿Alguna idea?
