I know J.D., WTF indeed! I'm still shaking my head. I was also 13 when the EP came out and liked it too. After Chris DeGarmo left, they've just gone down hill.... Geoff has some serious desire to be on Broadway or something. A friend had the MindCrime 2 DVD, OMG..... Geoff buddy, stop trying to "act" because YOU SUCK! LOL! After I saw that, I was terrified that Priest might do something similar with Nostradamus. The first MindCrime tour was really good, but then they decided to dip back into that well and came up with CRAP! What's wrong with being METAL lately? Priest had better see what's going on and hit us with a HEEEEEAAAVVVVYYYY MEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTAAAAAAALLLLL album next!

WTF????  I actually liked Queensryche in 1983(I was 13 years old) when I first heard thier 4 song EP before it even came out because my cousin Mark knew guitarist Chris DeGarmo as he worked with him in a wherehouse up here in Seattle!!!LOL!  I still don't mind the 4 song Debut EP and maybe Operation Mindcrime (for its time) but I have never cared for any other Queensryche and even I am saying "WTF"??? LOL!!  Has Tate lost his mind?????? LOL!!!This is ridiculous and shows that too many artists are trying to "avoid" playing traditional heavy metal!!!! lol!   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by HOT ROCKIN' METAL GODDESS from Sunday, October 11, 2009 6:40:20 PM)

OMFG!!! I didn't know where to post this. I'm completely at a loss for words other than, has Geoff completely lost his freakin' mind??? For those of you that think Priest is losing it, just read THIS! They could be doing shit like this!!! At least Rob's Christmas album is STILL METAL!

Queensryche Cabaret

qrcabaret-title

Ladies and Gentleman and “kids” of only adult ages, welcome to what promises to be the spectacle of all spectacles better known as the Queensryche Cabaret.

A fun-filled evening like no other full of freaks and shrieks.

What good is sitting alone in your room?

Come hear the music play.

Taste the wine and swing from a vine in a place that’s only eclipsed by the echo in your mind.

It’ll be Geoff Tate, Scott Rockenfield, Michael Wilton, Eddie Jackson and Parker Lundgren performing a show-of-shows with a bunch of their friends who have a tendency to only come out late at night.

The Queensryche Cabaret will be art, lust, dancing and naughty fun with the band performing their hits and never-heard-before selections accompanied by Go-Go dancers, burlesque dancers, drag queens, a juggler, ballet dancer, aerial artist, contortionist and much more.

Sit back and enjoy the music and theatrics or be a part of the stage show!

Audience members will have an opportunity to participate… but prior written consent will be required as it won’t be for the faint of heart.

It’ll be sights and sounds coming at you from all angles like never before!

See some evil, hear some evil, speak some evil and have some fun.

Be prepared… be very prepared.

Life is a Queensryche Cabaret, old chum, come to the Cabaret.

I just found out on a later article on Blabbermouth.net of an Entombed member making a tribute to Mike that said he died of a cerebral hemmorage. That is still a very scary thing to happen even in your thirties.

It said on the Hammer website that it might have been a blood clot. One of those freak, tragic things that you never imagine happening to anyone, let alone somebody in his thirties.

The worst part is they haven't said what happened to him yet. It is so strange and tragic that he just all of a sudden fell ill so quickly and passed on. My condolences and prayers are most certainly to the band and Mike's family and friends.

What the hell happened to him? I don't know what to say. Evile are the best metal band in the north of England. My thoughts are definately with them all.

I just got hit by some very sad news about one of my other favorite bands.
    EVILE Bassist Dies At 32 - Oct. 6, 2009
Just a few days into the band's European tour with AMON AMARTH, bassist Mike Alexander of British thrashers EVILE was suddenly taken ill and rushed to hospital, but tragically passed away in Luleå, Sweden [on Monday, October 5]. He was 32 years old.

EVILE members Matt Drake, Ol Drake and Ben Carter have released the following statement:

"This is so hard to find the words to express fully how we feel. We can't believe or accept what's happened. One minute we're talking to our buddy, Mike, the next minute we can never speak to him again.

"There's so many things rushing through our heads that we want to say, do and feel. We half expect him to come round the corner and call us 'dickheads'. We can't get our heads around it.

"It upsets us so much that he was away from his family when this happened, although knowing Mike, we're at least glad he was on tour doing what he loves.

"We're lost for words. We all miss him so much already. He was such a headstrong, genuinely nice guy who loved music and his family. We've got so many brilliant memories with him.

"Our hearts go out to his daughter, family and friends at this tragic, difficult time.

"Mike is much loved and is sorely missed.

"Rest in peace, brother."

BrooklynRocks conducted an interview with Ol Drake and Mike Alexander on August 20, 2009 at the Earache Records offices in New York City. Watch the chat below.

EVILE's sophomore album, "Infected Nations", was released on September 21 in Europe and September 22 in the U.S. via Earache Records.

Its a fact, Metal Cures Cancer.

Margaret Priebe, the 85-year-old METALLICA fan who became a viral sensation after her story appeared in Thursday's St. Petersburg Times, was invited backstage for a meet-and-greet prior to the band's show last night (Saturday, October 3) at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa, Florida. Each member of METALLICA spent a little time with her, sharing stories of her favorite album, "S&M". Guitarist Kirk Hammett also mentioned that his mother now has some competition! In addition, guitarist/vocalist James Hetfield dedicated the song "Nothing Else Matters" to Margaret at the sold-out concert, which was attended by more than 18,000 people.

Nine years ago, Margaret turned on the radio and discovered METALLICA's 1999 "S&M" album, recorded with the San Francisco Symphony, according to the St. Petersburg Times. She had never heard such a racket before — but she loved it. Last year, she endured a cancer battle with help from her trusty MP3 player, loaded up with METALLICA, JUDAS PRIEST, OZZY OSBOURNE. She's cancer-free now, but still cranks the tunes.

"I like METALLICA — there's nothing wrong with them," said Margaret. "People think I'm weird. But I'm sorry, I like it loud."

"Mom likes Lars [Ulrich, METALLICA's drummer]," said her son, Jim, 48, who builds Koi ponds and waterfalls. "She likes drummers."

"Lars is cute," said Margaret. "But I like 'em all."

For the St. Petersburg Times story, Margaret was asked if she'd like to meet METALLICA — Hetfield, Ulrich, Hammett and bassist Robert Trujillo. She smiled and said "Oh sure," but added "I wouldn't know what to say! I'd be so nervous!"

ROB HALFORD: 'I Think We've All Got A Bit Of Metal God Inside Of Us'   Topic List   < Prev Topic  |  Next Topic >
Reply | Forward < Prev Message  |  Next Message >
While it might seem like a difficult task to reinvent that fashion staple of
heavy metal music fans, the t-shirt, if anyone has the right credentials for the
task it’s Rob Halford, lead singer of legendary metal band Judas Priest.

Halford just launched Metal God, his signature brand of t-shirts that have all
the soft-worn appeal of a vintage concert t-shirt but with all-new original
graphics that he’s betting will appeal to die-hard metal fans and aspiring
rockers alike.

“The imagery is simply an extension of what I do with my music, explained
Halford at a preview of the collection on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at a New York
hotel in the East Village, not far from dive bars where heavy metal music
aficionados like DJ Lady Starlight spin Judas Priest classics. “Metal God
refers to the nickname given to Halford by fans.

“Quite simply, Rob Halford invented heavy metal style, said DJ Lady
Starlight, who writes a fashion and music blog chronicling the history of hard
rock and airs a heavy metal podcast, “Metal for Muthas, on American Apparel
internet radio. “The biker and leather boy look Halford adopted for promoting
'Hell Bent For Leather' in 1978 became the look every metal band emulated going
forward.

At Wednesday’s preview, Halford was sporting one of his own designs. “If you
see something like this thing I’m wearing, with this fantasy mythical creature
with a guitar, it says something strong and powerful, he said. “That’s
just been a natural progression over the years in rock and roll, to try and find
a way of saying something about yourself with the item of clothing you’re
wearing.

“A metalhead is rarely seen without a t-shirt or at least one patch or badge
of their favorite bands, said DJ Lady Starlight. Other signatures of heavy
metal style, she explained, include studs, spandex, lace and most definitively,
elements of fantasy literature and art like chainmail, armor and other Medieval
and Renaissance influences.

As such, many of the Metal God t-shirt designs feature mythical creatures, like
the Cerberus, a ferocious three-headed dog that guards the gates to the
underworld in ancient Greek and Roman mythology. Fantasy in heavy metal, said
Balford, is “a cool association.

“You can see I’m covered in tattoos of dragons and all this other mythical
imagery, and that’s again a part of my background as a lyricist, he said.
“I’ve got a very vivid imagination and a lot of characters I create are made
up in a fantasy kind of way. They always carry realistic virtues and attributes.
So if I’m writing a song like ‘Painkiller,’ it may be, like, about, this
really evil, menacing guy, which is the persona of the creature that you create,
but he’s doing good. I always have a lot of fun with that.

So far, the collection only features t-shirts, for both men and women, retailing
between $55 and $65 – but eventually Halford hopes to branch out, albeit
dependent on the economy.

“I think that you have to have a little bit of a leash on what you do,
otherwise it’s chaos, he said. “But we always see the light at the end of
the tunnel. I don’t think we can suddenly stop, Don’t make records, don’t
make clothes, don’t make movies. I think we have a responsibility to try and
keep that creative optimism going, no matter what we do.

Halford’s confident that his particular take on things – he is the Metal
God, after all – will distinguish his brand of rock-related apparel.

“I think that my connection is a little bit more personal than some of the
other great things that are going on around me, said Halford. “This is a
direct connection to me. It’s called a ‘Metal God’ t-shirt. I think
we’ve all got a bit of Metal God inside of us.

He’s also hoping to extend the heavy metal spirit beyond just music fans.

“I was talking to someone earlier and they were saying, it’s like everybody
wants to be a metalhead, but people are like, ‘Can I really be one? I don’t
really know what this is about, but I see it, and I look at what they where and
the shows they go to, and I see it on VH1 Classic Metal Mania, and I’m like,
wow, it looks so cool,’ said Halford. “But if you’re into that rock and
roll, edgy, exciting type of passionate world, then I think that these t-shirts
and this initial launch have a way of connecting to you as a person.

Motörhead are awesome (and loud!) live. I got to see them last year during the Metal Masters tour. Incredible and definitely got my ears warmed up for Heaven and Hell and Judas Priest. One of the best moments was hearing 'Metropolis' and seeing a group of military jets from a nearby air force base circle the amphitheatre several times (it was outdoors).

Actually, Motörhead are coming to San Fran on the 8th (I think). Wish I can go, but alas...can't afford the tickets (nor a hotel).

Well now that my head is not ringing anymore(lol!) "Motorhead" last night at the Showbox Sodo down town Seattle was a jaw dropping performance by Phil Campbell,Micky Dee and
of course the one and only "Lemmy"!!  Motorhead took the stage,Lemmy walked out and said : "Hi Seattle we are Motorhead and we've come to KICK YOUR ASS"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!
And then instantly went into "Iron Fist" and to make a long story short, the thread "Motorhead vs. Iron Maiden whos harder?" is a no brainer....Motorhead were SO FUCKING LOUD that
it knocked your ass into another gear thats for sure....nothing against Maiden, but for a 63 year old guy that plays Rock And Roll at that decibel is truly afuckingmazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!lol!
I told my girlfriend to bring ear plugs and she did but I didn't cause I wanted to get pumbled by the English legends and I've always heard stories about how loud they are and I can
say that they were not kidding!!!!!

Yes Motorhead are one true classic "hard rock" band that every fan of hard rock and heavy metal must see.  Lemmy also said on the encore "We are Motorhead and we play bloody fucking
rock and roll and don't any of you ever forget it"!!!! And then they as expected played "Ace Of Spades" and as like the other tracks throughout the night...it was FUCKING LOUD!! ol!  Man I have
never been to a concert that was this loud and still clear.  A friday night and what better to do than to see Motorhead crank out classic after classic!  I will definately be going to see them again
next time they roll through town.
