Judas Priest Tour Confirmed For 2011

terrybezer / News / 15/11/2010 15:05pm

The metal legends are to hit the road in 2011! Get full details inside!

Judas Priest’s legendary guitarist K.K. Dowling has confirmed that Judas Priest will be touring in 2011.

Speaking on his blog, the iconic axeman has said: “It seems that the time has come for us to put the touring wheels in motion for our next world tour in 2011!

“It’s funny but these days around – about this time – I can’t help but reflect on the past when we had to load the touring van ourselves. Sometimes in the ice and snow, being afraid that we would get frostbites on our fingers and not be able to play the gig!

“It was our great fortune, as time passed, to go on and tour with almost every band that you can
think of. Some tours included very cool line-ups that many people may not even be aware of: e.g.
Priest, Whitesnake & Iron Maiden / Priest, Scorpions & Def Leppard / Priest & UFO… and the
list goes on.

“People often ask me what it’s like to be on a tour and I always say the same things about it: simply
it’s the hardest thing that you will ever do, but you wouldn’t change it for the world. The travelling
becomes such a major part of your life that you actually feel like a piece of luggage yourself! But
I must confess when you get to go to places that you have never been before like Korea, Turkey,
Romania, Columbia etc. it’s no surprise that you feel like the luckiest man alive. I guess mainly
because for me – growing up as a kid – thinking of going to any of these places would have been
pure fantasy.”

Pretty much official then! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL I missed this question when it was originally posted - I have it! Yay! It's cheese metal at it's best, a number of the songs anyways, but me likey.
Ok guys, here's a good interview with Rob. Mostly about Made of Metal, but a couple of good points to do with Priest I will cut and paste below:

www.ultimate-guitar.com/interviews/hit_the_lights/rob_halford_godfather_of_metal__metal_god_will_be_side_by_side.html

Will you be conducting any live solo dates in 2011?

No - it's all Priest. As we're talking right now, I'll be back home from the Ozzy tour and will see Glenn and so on. We'll just get together, and we'll figure out what the plans are for next year which is primarily getting back out on the road again, Priest having had a year off.

Are there any plans for a new Judas Priest album?

I'm sure there'll be something in the not too distant future because that's what we've been doing since day one, haven't we? We're a metal band, and we write, record, and tour. We're a bit more laid back these days; there's not the rush and the contractual obligations that there used to be. When we're ready, we're ready to do something like that. As usual though, as soon as we know what we're doing, we'll let everybody know on the website.

MIKE PORTNOY Quits DREAM THEATER - Sep. 8, 2010
Drummer Mike Portnoy of progressive metal giants DREAM THEATER has released the following statement:

"I am about to write something I never imagined I'd ever write.

"After 25 years, I have decided to leave DREAM THEATER... the band I founded, led and truly loved for a quarter of a century.

"To many people this will come as a complete shock, and will also likely be misunderstood by some, but please believe me that it is not a hasty decision...it is something I have struggled with for the last year or so....

"After having had such amazing experiences playing with HAIL!, TRANSATLANTIC and AVENGED SEVENFOLD this past year, I have sadly come to the conclusion that I have recently had more fun and better personal relations with these other projects than I have for a while now in DREAM THEATER.

"Please don't misinterpret me, I love the DREAM THEATER guys dearly and have a long history, friendship and bond that runs incredibly deep with them... it's just that I think we are in serious need of a little break.

"DREAM THEATER was always my baby...and I nurtured that baby every single day and waking moment of my life since 1985... 24/7, 365... never taking time off from DREAM THEATER's never-ending responsibilites (even when the band was 'off' between cycles)... working overtime and way beyond the call of duty that most sane people ever would do for a band.

"But I've come to the conclusion that the DREAM THEATER machine was starting to burn me out...and I really needed a break from the band in order to save my relationship with the other members and keep my DREAM THEATER spirit hungry and inspired.

"We have been on an endless write/record/tour cycle for almost 20 years now (of which I have overseen EVERY aspect without a break) and while a few months apart from each other here and there over the years has been much needed and helpful, I honestly hoped the band could simply agree with me to taking a bit of a 'hiatus' to recharge our batteries and 'save me from ourselves'...

"Sadly, in discussing this with the guys, they determined they do not share my feelings and have decided to continue without me rather than take a breather... I even offered to do some occasional work throughout 2011 against my initial wishes, but it was not to be...

"While it truly hurts for me to even think of a DREAM THEATER without Mike Portnoy (hell, my father named the band!!), I do not want to stand in their way...so I have decided to sacrifice myself and simply leave the band so as to not hold them back against their wishes.

"Strangely enough, I just read an interview that I recently did that asked me about the future of DREAM THEATER and I talked about 'always following your heart and being true to yourself'... Sadly, I must say that at this particular moment, my heart is not with DREAM THEATER...and I would simply be 'going through the motions,' and would honestly NOT be true to myself if I stayed for the sake of obligation without taking the break I felt I needed.

"I wish the guys the best and hope the music and legacy we created together is enjoyed by fans for decades to come... I am proud of every album we made, every song we wrote and every show we played....

"I'm sorry to all the disappointed DREAM THEATER fans around the world... I really tried to salvage the situation and make it work... I honestly just wanted a break (not a split)... but happiness cannot be forced, it needs to come from within.

"You DREAM THEATER fans are the greatest fans in the world and as you all know, I have always busted my ass for you guys and I hope that you will stay with me on my future musical journey, wherever it may lead me.... (and as you all know my work ethic, there will surely be no shortage of future Mike Portnoy projects!)"

Hellrider,
Don't give up on a possible Halford show near you just yet. I was just reading an email from Halford's site.
He has Japan and South American dates coming up but in November and December he is adding shows.
Dates and sites to be announced Sept. 21. Good luck. I'm not trying to be greedy (f*ck it, yes I am) but I hope he plays clubs
and one of the dates is Pittsburgh.

City changing name for band frontman

A village in northwest Ohio plans to change its name for a day in honor of Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider, who's visiting town to host a March of Dimes Bikers for Babies ride.

Snider, known for 1980s heavy metal songs such as "We're Not Gonna take It" and "I Wanna Rock," also hosts the nationally syndicated radio show, House of Hair.

The ride of about 7 miles from Lima to Cridersville is Aug. 21. Cridersville plans to change its name to Sniderville during the event, which raises funds to help fight premature birth.

Snider is the 2010 Bikers for Babies national spokesman.

He had jokingly suggested that Cridersville change its name when a listener from the town requested a song on his radio show. He says the honor is "one of the coolest things that's ever happened" to him.

Heheh- A bit gushing, isn't it? Who knows, maybe it will be that good. I am still holding out hope. Some hope... well, a bit- well, I'd like it to have some good songs anyway.
I wish they would stop re-using song titles like that. Bruce had a solo track called the Wicker Man which pre-dates the song from the Brave New World album. It's confusing if nothing else.

First Halford Show In 7 Years

View videos here:http://www.youtube.com/user/HobRalford

HALFORD, the band fronted by JUDAS PRIEST singer Rob Halford, played its first show in more than seven years last night (Saturday, July 17) at the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco, California.

The group's setlist was as follows:

01. Silent Screams
02. Made Of Metal
03. Resurrection
04. Made In Hell
05. Never Again
06. Drop Out
07. Golgotha
08. Heart Of A Lion
09. Never Satisfied
10. I Am Alive
11. Saviour

Encore:

12. Crystal
13. Rock The World Forever

Fan-filmed video footage of the concert can be viewed below.

Prior to the San Francisco show, HALFORD's last gig took place on June 6, 2003 in Anaheim, California.

HALFORD released a new single, "The Mower", on June 25 via HalfordMusic.com. The track is the first single from HALFORD's new album, "Halford IV - Made Of Metal", which will be released in October.

HALFORD's last album, "Halford III - Winter Songs", sold 1,400 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 26 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

"Halford III - Winter Songs" was Rob's first solo release in more than seven years, and it included a collection of new Halford-penned tracks plus traditional holiday favorites presented with original arrangements by HALFORD (Rob Halford on vocals, Roy Z. on guitar, Metal Mike Chlasciak on guitar, Mike Davis on bass and Bobby Jarzombek on drums).

Metal God Records and Rob Halford recently announced plans to release "Halford - Live In Anaheim Original 2CD Soundtrack", "Halford Crucible - Remixed & Remastered" and "Halford - Live In Anaheim" DVD, a 5.1, 23-song, two-plus-hour film documenting Rob Halford's 2002-2003 solo release ("Crucible") and tour.

Armed with metal's most diverse band of the decade, "Halford - Live In Anaheim" is an intimate, in-your-face, solo performance featuring HALFORD, FIGHT and JUDAS PRIEST classics: "Golgotha", "The Heretic", "Sun", "Into The Pit", "Light Comes Out Of Black", "Painkiller", "Rapid Fire", "Never Satisfied", and more. Also featured are bonus live tracks from HALFORD's Tokyo, Japan performances February 2003.

Metal Hammer have revied the forthcoming Iron Maiden album The Final Frontier. Here is the review. I think Brian_Evans may be writing for Metal Hammer incognito LOL!

IRON MAIDEN The Final Frontier Track-By-Track

Somewhere between the dark and menacing war stories of A Matter Of Life And Death and the prog-tinged melodic bombast of Brave New World, albeit with a vast amount of fresh ideas thrown in for good measure, The Final Frontier is every bit as strong as the last three Maiden albums. The difference between this one and its predecessors is that these songs repeatedly take the Brit metal legends into uncharted territory. This is a demanding album, but one that most Maiden fans are going to absolutely adore…

SATELLITE 15…THE FINAL FRONTIER

Everyone has heard the album’s title track by now, and it’s a straightforward and infectious slab of muscular hard rock that seems destined to open Maiden shows for the foreseeable future…but it’s the first part of this bi-polar album opener that is going to blow fans’ minds. A disorientating maelstrom of swirling distortion, thudding double kicks and bizarre spectral vocals, Satellite 15 is undoubtedly the weirdest thing the band have ever recorded. It’s heavy, it’s left-field and it’s utterly unexpected.

EL DORADO

Opinion seems to be divided about whether El Dorado is simply a solid, straightforward Maiden tune or something genuinely special. In fact, it’s a bit of both; a bold and boisterous seven-minute epic with an infectious chorus and a few deftly-executed twists and turns, all custom-built to go down an absolute storm live.

MOTHER OF MERCY

A dark and menacing song that could easily have been on A Matter Of Life And Death, this is one of those archetypal horrors-of-war anthems that Maiden do so well. It starts with a faintly proggy intro – a whiff of Steve Harris’ beloved Jethro Tull, perhaps – before morphing into a brooding, slow-motion gallop, not a million miles from Stranger In A Strange Land (from Somewhere In Time), but with a much more sinister overall vibe. “Sick of all the killing and the reek of death…” sings Bruce at one point.

COMING HOME

A bombastic, lighters-in-the-air ballad with a difference, Coming Home marries a giant, sing-along chorus to some subtly progressive riffs and a typically adventurous arrangement. Undeniably sentimental, this is plainly Bruce Dickinson’s song, as he sings about returning home and seeing the lights on the runway as his plane descends to Earth. Not many bands could pull this off without setting off the cheese alarm. Maiden do it brilliantly. A live classic in the making.

THE ALCHEMIST

Arguably the most old fashioned song on the album, this punchy four-minute burst of speed, energy and irresistible Lizzy-esque lead guitar harmonies would have fit neatly onto Fear Of The Dark and nimbly ticks all the necessary boxes to please the die-hards. Interestingly, this has the same title as a song from Bruce Dickinson’s classic solo album Chemical Wedding. The two songs are utterly dissimilar, however.

ISLE OF AVALON

Possibly the finest thing on The Final Frontier and certainly one of the strongest songs Maiden have produced in years, Isle Of Avalon takes the band into unfamiliar melodic territory, with a few unconventional time signatures and proggy detours adding to the intense freshness that pervades throughout its nine minute duration, and a simply enormous chorus that will surely translate extremely well live. There’s a vague hint of Paschendale (from 2003’s Dance Of Death) and a nod or two to Maiden’s Somewhere In Time album here.

STARBLIND

Another song that is full of surprises, despite Maiden’s unmistakable sound, this is another epic that brims with great riffs, melodies and subtle textural touches. Almost psychedelic in places, Starblind has a genuinely otherworldly feel, particularly during its intricate midsection which boasts a phenomenal bluesy lead break over some sumptuous, mellow guitar work from the Three Amigos.

THE TALISMAN

Another song that would have fit on A Matter Of Life And Death, The Talisman is dark and complex, but it also flows beautifully, spreading out from its folky intro into a powerful main verse riff and a seriously explosive chorus with Bruce bellowing at the top of his not inconsiderable lungs. Despite being nine minutes long, this one whizzes by in what seems like half that time.

THE MAN WHO WOULD BE KING

An eerie, unsettling intro leads into some crushing, doomy chords before this sprawling epic switches direction and heads into a superbly catchy and muscular verse riff and another big chorus. Like many songs on The Final Frontier, The Man Who Would Be King seldom does exactly what you would expect, and yet it all makes perfect sense by the time its rambling, harmony-packed intro fades gently away…

WHEN THE WILD WIND BLOWS

Based on author Raymond Briggs’ grim post-nuclear fallout graphic novel (When The Wind Blows), the final track on Maiden’s 15th album is every bit as bleak and unnerving as its subject matter would seem to demand, and yet this is as musically fascinating and lyrically brave as anything the band have recorded. Densely-layered and uncompromising, this one will take a few listens to sink in, but there is an insane amount of atmosphere and countless inspired melodic touches on display here. A stunning finale.

But there is no need for you to post a "full review" of the album since you like everything by Iron Maiden the same. You'll give each song an A+ all the way across the board so whats the point?  Just like I said a few months ago before you heard any samples...you already like the album just as much as any other Maiden album, you don't have any basis to "discuss" anything, nothing at all. Your such a fuckin joke dude lmao! lol!

Why do you need to wait for the entire cd to be released to give your so called "full review" when we all know what the so called "full review" is going to be,you will say: " Every song on the album is excellent classic Iron Maiden and is as good as anything they have ever done equally" .   Or some arrangements of words meaning the same thing.   So there you have it,your so called "full review" is not needed. You have every right to have your obsessive opinions about Maiden, but again you like everything they do so its a waste of time to post a "full review".

Well I'm waiting until the entire cd is released before I give my full review. You can follow the review in my Maiden thread after the release. Unlike another joker around here that judges the entire cd on just two tracks which is pretty lame in my opinion. Ha! I just can't wait to here the full cd with the three guitar attack!! So far the solos, which are a key ingredient of quality metal, are excellent in what they have released from Final Frontier. Up The Irons!!

Just saw "The Final Frontier" video all the way through and the song is absolutely terrible.  Its "BORING" its weak and it sucks. This once great band is washed up,they are "pathetic" and they are mother fucking "overrated" big time!!!! Have a listen for yourselves, this shit band is getting worse! The song itself is worse than El Dorado wich is ridiculous, and the track( "The Final Frontier") is track #1 off the cd with El Dorado #2 so this pretty much sums up the rest of the album wich will obviously be a fucking JOKE.  This band can't write "QUALITY HEAVY METAL" anymore, they fuckin suck and I'm tired of hearing about thier name, they are just as shitty as Metallica, and thats pretty shitty!

Immortal - First Time On DVD

Norwegian black metallers IMMORTAL will release a concert DVD, "The Seventh Date Of Blashyrkh", on August 6 via Nuclear Blast. The disc will include professionally filmed video footage of the band's headlining performance at the 2007 edition of the Wacken Open Air festival, which was held August 2-4, 2007 in Wacken, Germany.

A trailer for the DVD can be viewed below.

In a recent interview with About.com, IMMORTAL's Demonaz stated about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the follow-up to last year's "All Shall Fall", "We already have three songs for the next album. We'll be working on the album this year. And we have material for a lot of other songs, so maybe in August we'll be finished with half the album. But we haven't come so far that I can see the end of the album."

He continued, "I think we'll try to work with the songs and make them classic IMMORTAL songs.

"The next album will be different than 'All Shall Fall'. I think the songs will come off as one package.

"Every album is different for us, but we won't try too many new things. We'll stick to the plan and make the music we like.

"Don't expect something revolutionary. (laughs)"

"All Shall Fall" sold around 3,300 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 162 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD landed at No. 7 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

"All Shall Fall" entered the German chart at position No. 33 and Finnish chart at No. 20. In the band's home country, the CD landed at No. 23 in its opening week.

"All Shall Fall" was released in North America on October 6, 2009 via Nuclear Blast Records. The CD, which was issued in Europe on September 25, 2009, was recorded at Grieghallen and Abyss studios in Norway and Sweden, respectively.

...and I am still invincible! BWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just kidding, just kidding...
[Head banger] Thursday, July 01, 2010 7:30:01 AM

here you can get learners at 14, a conditional licence at 16 and a full licence a year later (regardless of how old you were when you got the conditonal)

I think that young learners still have more fear so start out more cautious.  of course from 16 to 21 they all think they are invincible, but what do you do?

Sometimes I think being a little older when you get your license is a good thing. I mean, reason has kicked in, you have less of a sense of being invincable and you are wiser to learning. Here it is only possible to get your drivers when you are 18. You can get a learners permit at 17 but you have to drive with a licensed driver next to you.

Rust In Peace: Live DVD Announced

The final night of MEGADETH's historic month-long "Rust In Peace" 20th anniversary tour has been captured for the upcoming "Rust In Peace Live" Blu-ray, DVD and CD, due out September 7 on Shout! Factory.

On March 31, 2010, at this incredibly special show at the legendary Hollywood Palladium, not far from where Dave Mustaine formed the band in 1983, MEGADETH played their landmark, genre-defining 1990 "Rust In Peace" album in its entirety, in addition to other MEGADETH favorites. "Rust In Peace Live" also marks the return of original bassist David Ellefson (MEGADETH 1983-2002) to the iconic multi-platinum group after eight years. Ellefson (bass), joins Mustaine (lead vocals, guitar), Shawn Drover (drums) and Chris Broderick (guitar).

"Rust In Peace Live" features the entire "Rust In Peace" track listing, including all-time classics "Holy Wars...The Punishment Due" and "Hangar 18" along with bonus fan favorites from various other MEGADETH releases such as "Symphony For Destruction", "Peace Sells" and "Skin O' My Teeth".

MEGADETH founder/frontman/guitarist Dave Mustaine explains, "We are pumped to be able to share the 'RIP Live' concert with you all around the world. The anniversary and David Ellefson coming back was better than a facelift and a bottle of Viagra for old [MEGADETH mascot] Vic."

The 80-minute "Rust In Peace Live" DVD (5.1 Dolby Surround 16:9 Widescreen) and Blu-ray (5.1 DTS Master Audio 1080p High Definition) were directed by Kerry Asmussen (GREEN DAY, JAY-Z, Coachella). The DVD and Blu-ray will also include behind-the-scenes footage, including a rare glimpse of the band rehearsing in their dressing room as they prepare to take the stage.

"Rust In Peace" is considered one of the best metal albums of all time by fans and critics and debuted at #23 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart in the U.S. and #8 in the U.K. The album showcased a much tighter sound, with Mustaine's writing style adopting a rhythmically complex progressive edge, prompting All Music Guide to cite "Rust In Peace" as "MEGADETH's strongest musical effort." The album received Grammy nominations in 1990 and 1991 for "Best Metal Performance." Emphasizing the massive impact of "Rust In Peace" in the July 2010 issue of Guitar World, writer Richard Bienstock calls it "one of the pinnacles of the first wave of thrash metal." He continues, "A defining quality of MEGADETH's sound — and the one that perhaps most sets them apart from their 'Big Four' thrash brethren, METALLICA, SLAYER and ANTHRAX — has always been the band's fiery mix of speed-metal ferocity and progressive instrumental virtuosity… nowhere has this combination been displayed better than on 'Rust In Peace'."

The full track listing for the "Rust In Peace Live" CD, DVD and Blu-ray is as follows:

"Rust In Peace" Live:

01. Holy Wars...The Punishment Due
02. Hangar 18
03. Take No Prisoners
04. Five Magics
05. Poison Was The Cure
06. Lucretia
07. Tornado Of Souls
08. Dawn Patrol
09. Rust In Peace...Polaris

Bonus Content:

10. Skin O' My Teeth (Countdown To Extinction)
11. In My Darkest Hour (So Far, So Good…So What!)
12. She-Wolf (Cryptic Writings)
13. Trust (Cryptic Writings)
14. Symphony Of Destruction (Countdown To Extinction)
15. Peace Sells (Peace Sells…But Who's Buying?)
16. Holy Wars – Reprise (Rust In Peace)

Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, And Anthrax Perform "Am I Evil?" On Stage Together

View it here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AdzqU4I1MM&feature=player_embedded

Members of SLAYER, MEGADETH and ANTHRAX joined METALLICA on stage earlier tonight (Tuesday, June 22) in Sofia, Bulgaria to perform the DIAMOND HEAD classic "Am I Evil?" METALLICA's James Hetfield, MEGADETH's Dave Mustaine and ANTHRAX's Joey Belladonna all took turns singing, with various other bandmembers playing guitar, bass and pounding on snare drums.

"After 29 years of doing this to reach this apex is just so fucking cool," tweeted ANTHRAX guitarist Scott Ian moments after the performance. "It was a monumental moment of epic proportions. I'm so high from the experience I can't sleep."

The last time Mustaine performed with METALLICA was on April 9, 1983 at the legendary Brooklyn, New York club L'Amour. He was unceremoniously fired by the band just weeks before they entered the studio to record their debut album, "Kill 'Em All", and was replaced by former EXODUS axeman Kirk Hammett.

***UPDATE: First photos and low-quality video footage of the performance can be viewed below.***

NOTE: All photos below courtesy of MetOnTour.com

METALLICA's setlist was as follows:

01. Creeping Death
02. For Whom The Bell Tolls
03. Fuel
04. Harvester Of Sorrow
05. Fade To Black
06. That Was Just Your Life
07. Cyanide

10. All Nightmare Long
11. One
12. Master Of Puppets

14. Nothing Else Matters
15. Enter Sandman

16. Am I Evil? (w/ Big Four)

Today's "Big Four" show, as part of the Sonisphere festival, will be beamed to more than 450 movie theatres in more than 140 markets in the U.S., along with cities in Europe, Canada and Latin America. In addition, it is being recorded for a forthcoming "Big Four" DVD.

The concert will be broadcast to theatres in high definition. Delayed screenings are planned for Australia, South Africa and New Zealand.

METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH and ANTHRAX — the so-called "Big Four" of 1980s thrash metal — played together for the first time in history last Wednesday night (June 16) in front of 81,000 fans at the Sonisphere festival at Bemowo Airport in Warsaw, Poland.

Ronnie James Dio Tribute Concert Announced

On May 16, Ronnie James Dio passed away and the world of music mourned the loss of the greatest voice of heavy metal.

Dio was a truly iconic figure in music, whose work with ELF, RAINBOW, BLACK SABBATH, DIO and most recently, HEAVEN & HELL defined a genre.

HEAVEN & HELL was set to be on the road in Europe this summer when news came through that despite the amazing progress he was making Ronnie wouldn't be well enough to tour and those shows were canceled. But now, remaining members Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice are set to play a one-off show to celebrate his life and work. According to Black-Sabbath.com, the band will be completed by Glenn Hughes (BLACK SABBATH, DEEP PURPLE, TRAPEZE) and Jorn Lande (MASTERPLAN) who will both contribute vocals.

Hughes was a close friend of Ronnie's for many years and performed a musical tribute at Ronnie's funeral service in Los Angeles.

Although Norwegian Jorn Lande is best known as the vocalist for power metal band MASTERPLAN, he has also released many solo albums, including a tribute to Ronnie.

The concert promises to be a fitting celebration to a man that the metal scene owes so much.

"It's going to be a very emotional occasion," said Butler in a statement.

"Ronnie loved his fans like no one else I know — and they loved him. It will be a privilege doing a gig in honor of his memory, and to help towards his charity. Above all, I hope it encourages people to have regular check-ups for this disease. Early detection is vital, and greatly improves the chance of a cure.

"I know everyone has heard that a million times before, but seeing one of your best friends die, because we all think we're immune from this disease, really brings it home.

"Do it for yourself, your family, your friends. Ronnie would be proud of you."

Tony Iommi added: "Ronnie's passing has left a huge hole. We hadn't anywhere near finished what we set out to do as a band together. He was so looking forward to the European tour and we hope this appearance will go some way to fulfilling that."

The Ronnie James Dio "Stand Up And Shout" Cancer Fund program description:

* The fund is committed to the early detection and prevention of cancer through facilitating access to medical screening and medical educational programs.

* The fund supports programs designed to integrate medical knowledge into local communities such as cancer screening programs, education on nutrition in cancer prevention, exercise and overall wellness."

* The goal of the fund is to reduce the risk of developing life threatening cancers by offering access to preventative medical services."

* Furthering the commitment for patients to access to quality medical care related to cancer, the fund seeks to assist families burdened by the cost of caring for loved ones with cancer."

I think it will have been totally changed by then Becks- the new album will be out by the end of this tour and they'll have some more tracks from that.

I know during the last tour a lot of people were going on about the lack of newer stuff being played live, I guess they can't please everyone, but still, I AM surprised at some of the omissions- No The Trooper?

I would go see them live with this setlist, but if you haven't caught them on one of their recent 'Greatest hits' type tours, yeah it sucks. I could accuse them of this being a marketing ploy, but, hell, I'd feel bad. I think they do it because they genuinely get bored of playing the classics.

Oh man if they come to NZ I'll be stuffed, I want to see them live but 13 songs from the last two albums? Argh!

My friend just went to the opening show of the tour last night in Dallas. He said that the first 13 songs were from the last two albums..... to quote him "It takes guts to play the first 13 songs from the last 2 albums." They didn't play any old Maiden until the encore! God am I glad we didn't get tickets to Pine Knob!!

itseems to be that will be the only song done live on their tour, it is  2 minutes to long ! so i hope for a set of oldies seeing as the release date is after i see them

It's alright what they released. But the length of songs are far too long. It's like they are going back to the experiment days again and repeating from A Matter of Life and Death. Maybe it was a good call to skip seeing Iron Maiden this year...

They've gone and done exactly what I had hoped they wouldn't do and released a fucking long album. This is gonna be hard to get into. El Dorado didn't sound too bad though. Might try and get a download of it. Gay cover by the way.

I think it sounds a lot more like Bruce's solo stuff than Maiden's recent work. It'll be interesting to see how it fits into the rest of the album. Meanwhile I'm continuing to try and download the mp3- its taking forever and this is about the 4th attempt. Guess the website must be swamped.

And yeah, good music but why the hell have they got Melvyn Grant back on board? They should have had Tim Bradstreet again, if AMOLAD is anything to go by, he'd have done a much better job.

Ah it does a bit actually!
I agree, the song is ok. Doesn't make me excited about the new album though unfortunately.

Yeah. The song is okay...and the intro keeps reminding me of Metallica's Hit the Lights.

Thanks for the info Vail. Not sure what to make of that song. Someone needs to tell them to stop making 7 + minute long songs! That song could easily have been half the length.

IRON MAIDEN: New Album Details Revealed - June 7, 2010 *cough*badalbumcover*cough*

The European release date for IRON MAIDEN's much-anticipated new studio album, "The Final Frontier", is now confirmed for Monday, August 16. The CD features artwork (see below) illustrated by Melvyn Grant and, to mark the occasion, the band has made special arrangements for one new album track, "El Dorado", to be made available worldwide as a FREE digital download MP3 with immediate effect via www.ironmaiden.com. The song can also be streamed in the YouTube clip below.

Singer Bruce Dickinson explains, "'El Dorado' is a preview of the forthcoming studio album. As we will be including it in the set of our 'Final Frontier World Tour' (which opens in Dallas on June 9) we thought it would be great to thank all our fans and get them into 'The Final Frontier' mood by giving them this song up front of the tour and album release."

The band reunited with long-time MAIDEN producer Kevin "Caveman" Shirley in early 2010 at Compass Point Studios, Nassau to record the album and then moved to The Cave Studios in Malibu, California to finish the recording and do the mixing. Compass Point Studio is very familiar to the band, it was where they recorded the "Piece Of Mind" (1983), "Powerslave" (1984) and "Somewhere In Time" (1986) albums.

Bruce comments: "The studio had the same vibe and it was EXACTLY as it had been in 1983, NOTHING had changed! Even down to the broken shutter in the corner... same carpet... everything... It was really quite spooky. But we felt very relaxed in such a familiar and well-trodden environment and I think this shows in the playing and the atmosphere of the album."

30 years on from their eponymous debut album in April 1980, "The Final Frontier" will be MAIDEN's 15th studio album, making a remarkable average of a new album every two years for 30 years and totaling over 80 million album sales during this period.

"The Final Frontier" track listing (total running time 76:35):

01. Satellite 15....The Final Frontier (8:40)
02. El Dorado (6:49)
03. Mother Of Mercy (5:20)
04. Coming Home (5:52)
05. The Alchemist (4:29)
06. Isle Of Avalon (9:06)
07. Starblind (7:48)
08. The Talisman (9:03)
09. The Man Who Would Be King (8:28)
10. When The Wild Wind Blows (10:59)

"The Final Frontier World Tour" begins in Dallas on June 9 with 25 shows in major cities across the USA and Canada, playing to an expected 350,000 fans or more. Following this the tour will ship over to Europe starting in Dublin on July 30 and playing a few selected major festivals and stadiums , finishing in Valencia, Spain, on August 21 and including a concert in Transylvania.

Says bass player and founder member Steve Harris: "We're hugely excited about this tour. I think the fans will really like the brand new stage production and lights and we will also be debuting one of the new album tracks , 'El Dorado'. Our Texan fans will be the very first people anywhere to hear it live, so it will be interesting to see their reaction and how it goes down with the crowd on the night! Eddie has changed a bit for this tour but is possibly the most outrageous one to date... I can't say too much about him as don't want to spoil the surprise but I guarantee he will scare the hell out of you!"
