Oh, no doubt. The most casual Metallica fan probably thinks they wrote "Stone Cold Crazy" too. Give 'em a 10-1 bet they couldn't say where the song was first released either ("Elektra's 40th Anniversary" double cd). How about "The Prince?" LOVE that tune. Where? B side of "One." Orininal? No. DIAMOND HEAD!!! <==another great band.
come on. most casual metalica fans have no idea that they didnt write breadfan themselves. heck, I bet most priest fans have no idea that green manalishi is a fleetwood mac tune. your right about them disapearing from the boneyard though, which is a shame.

Me too. Budgie isn't a "less known heavy metal band" IMO. Thanks in great part to Metallica's cover of some of their songs, most of my metal friends know them. They got regular airtime on the OLD Boneyard (not so much since Sharon - I mean Ozzy) took it over. (Quoting Message by acolyte55 from Friday, March 15, 2013 10:37:16 PM)

Props to "Fenriz" for giving me the thread idea. Do you sometimes ever feel "stuck" in heavy metal? There are so many albums to chose from and to just list 15 is but here are 15 ways to get you out of your rut!
These albums do not have any thrash/death/black influences in them:
1. Saxon - Lionheart(2004) Yes Saxon, here thier name is mentioned by only me but new comers may not have heard of them.
2.Pentagram - Day Of Reckoning(1987) Heavily in the vien of Black Sabbath with Ozzy for fans of old Sabbath...
3.Cirith Ungol - One Foot In Hell(1986) 3rd LP from this band. This album has always been in my collection and is a great album, stay away from the second LP...he sounds too much like Axl Rose lol
4.Manilla Road - Mystification(1987) excellent epic heavy metal from the states ...a concept album about Edgar Allen Poe...amazing!
5.Virgin Steele - The House Of Atreus Act 1(...check out a review of this LP it will blow you away)
6.Satan - Court In The Act(1983) NWOBHM....excellent LP...just listen to Trail By Fire...you can hear those old NWOBHM guitar duo sounds.......
7.Exciter - Long Live The Loud(1985) for fans of Priest....
8.Agent Steel - Skeptics Apokalypse(1985)..ok a likttle thrash in this one but over-all its heavy metal.
9.Running Wild - Black Hand Inn(1994) for fans of Saxon,Judas Priest and Iron Maiden.....
10.Destiny - Atomic Winter(1988)...for fans of Accept take note of this album...this one is for you!
11.Blind Guardian -Batallions Of Fear(1987) For fans of old Iron Maiden, early German power metal at its best
12.Scanner - Hyper Trace(1988) A very unique album....the opening track Warp 7 in the middle where the guitar solos are can remind one of the middle solos of Freewheel Buring for example
13.Iced Earth - Night Of The Storm Rider(1992) for fans of Judas Priest,Iron Maiden and old 1986ish Metallica riffs.....
14.Gaurdians Of The Flame - Under A Savage Sky(2003) heavily for fans of old Rainbow with Dio....this LP is like if Rainbow with Dio were heavy metal instead of mystical hard rock.....
15Ghost - Opus Eponymous(2011) Debut from this Swedish satanic heavy metal band, brilliant song writting defintaly worth checking out.
There you go.....15 examples to get you out of your rut while waiting for the next Priest LP!
