Here is an interview with KK, talking about leaving Priest and that he will never disclose his reasons for leaving the band. This man is a CLASS ACT all the way!!!

VIDEO: K.K. Downing says he’ll never share why he left Judas Priest

In a new interview, former Judas Priest guitarist K.K. Downing says he’ll never completely share the reasons why he decided to retire from the band prior to their ‘farewell’ Epitaph world tour.

"It was a set of circumstances that led me to not go out [on tour with Priest] this year,” Downing tells Valley reporter Grace Bailey at his home at Astbury Hall in Shropshire, England. “I was kind of geared up for it, but there was a multitude of reasons. It pretty much came down to an unsettlement on my part with working relationships.

"It's like anything else,”
continues. “If anybody out there is thinking it's hard to live with one woman, they should try to live with four guys and hold it together. [Laughs] It gets to be like that, but obviously, with certain things, I just wasn't completely happy with the way things were, with the way it was, [and I just felt like] it was probably best if I stepped down, and I did."

Richie Faulkner
was brought in by the metal gods to fill out their sound, joining Glenn Tipton on guitar.

"I wish things could have been different, so I could have continued,” says K.K. “Obviously, 'cause of the passion [I had for the band]. In the [late] Sixties, I was very instrumental in creating Judas Priest, and it was a hard bullet to bite. But I thought that if this is gonna be the way that it's gonna be, then perhaps it's time to step down.

"It was a massive consideration,"
says the guitarist. "Obviously, the fans, who I love, and many of them have become very good friends. But I just hoped that they would appreciate that I couldn't continue with the way that I felt inside for reasons which I'll… I mean, certain reasons I will never, ever disclose.

"I have been extremely fortunate to have been able to do so many shows and tours and records, and come out of it healthy and well. But I haven't really spoken to anyone about the inner details [behind my decision], really."

Priest band members have publicly stated that they have no idea why Downing retired, with some reports speculating that his decision was based on K.K.’s need to run his 9- and 18-hole golf courses on his estate, which the guitarist has flatly denied.

Hear what K.K. has to say in the Valley interview…

Priest continue the North American leg of the Epitaph tour this week with shows in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts.

Despite having the Beatles on the cover, "Guitar World" magazine has a nice little article about Priest this month. Specifically, an interview with Richie and Glenn.

Nice read on the flight home from the concerts.

by my rough count JB wants 85 million.  he should have represented michael jackson.  that reads like he had no clue what was going on from day one.  WTF.  I do hope that rob kept the rights to his material separate, and that he makes a new priest album next.

Heads up Noticeboarders! Glenn's Tour Diary's got new entries from the recent US gigs. Now if only the photo section would update just as quickly.

Just my thoughts on this subject, unprofessional as they may be. lol:

I'm sure when Rob got wind of the statements on the Q for the world to see, he could not wait to be rid of such a hostile business partner , which prompted him to Lawyer up to find a way to dissolve the contract between himself and EMAS. Then when Baxter found himself fired for pretty much his own desparate actions, he was shocked? So he goes and files this injured party law suit.
Baxter was probably being slowly disentwinded from Halford's intrests over the past year and that is what caused him to loose his mind and post the things he did. It showed just how unprofessional J.B. could be, and how low he could sink.
I would like to know just what effect these developments were having on Judas Priest prior to this suit. Perhaps KK retired to protect his own assests seeing something this unpleasant coming down the pike and wishing to be no part of another law suit.
Allas, we all will probably never really know.

This is also about Priest management negotiating a 10 page ammendment to Rob's EMI contract, which Baxter had been in control of since 1992. Priest management doesn't want to lose Rob as a client. After Priest is done, Rob will be the only money maker since no one else has anything going on. Page 13 is interesting reading once you get past all the lawyer speak.

Folks just because John is the sole member of the LLC that may have nothing to do with the "rights" of Halford's material.

It could just be a legal Company that was established for legal protection, but Halford most likely kept rights to many of his other Companies listes in the suit.

An LLC is set up for legal protection and some tax benefits - that can be very different that ownership of material.

At this point we don't know.

The fact the John is trying to "pierce the corporate veil" shows he is trying to prove that Halford and his other legal vehiles have becomed blurred in their separation.

Why the )*)#$ would rob do that with JB?  did he not learn from the gull days?

can you post a link to the Q post?  I dont want to bother trying to find it in that mess.

When did that happen that Baxter is the sole owner? Was that when Rob rejoined Priest or has it always been that way? I remember Rob saying that he had to restructure his business when her rejoined Priest to keep Jayne and Co. from it.

I have no doubt in my mind whatsoever that Jayne and others want a piece of the pie when Priest is done after this tour and have been trying to influence Rob so they can get money from Halford, etc. This goes way deeper and I'm sure it started before July. This could have something to do with why KK left - he didn't agree with whatever is going on.

It is getting serious now; according to a copy of the law documents (linked on the Q), John Baxter is the sole owner of Metal God Entertainment, Metal God Records & Metal God Apparel. So if the shit really hits the fan here, most of Rob's solo material & merchandise could potentially have the same fate as Priest's Gull-era records.

His rant post was posted on the Q on July 29th, so yeah the timeline is quite fitting.

Wow. Thanks for the post, Nupe. HRMG is right. This was and is a "shit / shit" situation for Rob.

When did "Baxtergate" first break. Been too long since his post. Wasn't it around August? Would all tie into the timeline as stated in the article.
[Head banger] Thursday, November 03, 2011 8:02:46 AM
hopefully the end resolution of this is a more coheasive priest.  baxter looked like an idiot with the post in the Q, and if he lost 50 mil in paychecks (I doubt rob agreed to pay him 200+%) then he should have asked sooner.  if he wasnt getting paid he should have quit years ago,
[HOT ROCKIN' METAL GODDESS] Thursday, November 03, 2011 7:55:26 AM
There is always far more to any situation than we will ever know. Looks like shit is hitting the fan though. This just completely sucks for Rob being stuck in the middle. And I knew that Jayne made the Epitaph announcement during the HALFORD tour to screw Rob. It left Rob out there to have to answer all the questions while the rest of Priest was hiding and saying nothing. It wasn't fair to Rob to have to deal with all of it while he was on tour with HALFORD. They should have had a press conference with all the members of the band. There is far more here than meets the eye!

Baxter is making himself look like an idiot - as you say, how could he not know he was not getting paid??? Sounds very bizarre to me, and bitter on Baxters part. LIke someone says in the article (an entertainment industry lawyer I believe), this smacks of someone getting in a shit cos he's been fired, and is now looking for a farewell 'present'. $50million? Give me a break.

What is serious? That a manager decided to sue because he was fired? I don't believe for one moment that that dude didn't know he wasn't getting paid...for years.
What a dijk. And 50 mil?

Serious is little children dying of hunger in Africa. This guy sueing Priest has as much of a case as that ex-girlfriend of KK's had when she sued him for his estate.
