Ok, update. I spent the day at their hotel waiting for them all to roll up for photos and autographs.
I got all the guys to autograph my Defenders of the Faith lp, a book and my scrap book.
Got pics with all but KK, cause I forgot.
Rob was a real friendly guy, very humble and quiet spoken. Not like you would have expected. |

I was able to see Priest last night in Perth, Western Australia. It was a killer show. I saw them here 7 years ago with Tim, but this was a level above that.
The light show was great, let alone the music. The set is not too shabby either.
After the show, my army training kicked in. Being ex armoured recon, I knew how to do a recon of the stadium. I found the loading docks, knowing that backstage would be right there too.
So, I sat in the car and waited for a likely target to drive out.
After about an hour, a minivan full of people came out of the loading dock area.
The chase was on. My friend had driven to pick me up in my ute and she tailed em and said she didn't want to get too close.
Well, she got stopped by a red light, so I told her I was taking over.
I got in and the next stage was on, catching up. I had to do over 100kmh to catch up to em and run 1 red and 2 orange lights, but I did it.
Followed em to their hotel and got to thank all but Rob, he had already gone to the hotel.
I shook hands with Glenn, Ken and Ian. I even showed Ian my bank card so he could see my name.
Yes, it is Rob Halford for real!
Now to see em in America.
Thanks guys, you done good. |

The Brisbane show on the 10th was fantastic. The set list was basically the same as metal Masters etc although there were a couple of surprises. A brilliant show and Rob is in fine voice indeed. My ears nearly bled from his screams, he's still got it. The entire band really enjoyed themselves and they sounded excellent. My ears are still ringing.
Long live the PRIEST! Enjoy Melbourne. |

I have followed this band since 1977 and like other UK metal and rock bands that are still going from that era they are doing less and less UK gigs. Download festival is not everyone's cup of tea JP. Remeber the fans from the early days and do some halls. |

Got to see Priest twice on this tour- once in Kansas City on August 1st; then again Thursday night in Phoenix (8/28). What a GREAT tour! The show in KC was VERY hot and humid but the band was great. Phoenix show had WAY crazy wind and lightning kick up at the end of the Heaven and Hell set, followed by heavy rains during Priest. Luckily they let quite a few folks from the lawn come down with us under the covered pavillion during the heavy rainfall. Halford and crew were absolutely amazing at Phoenix! Rob reminded the crowd several times that this is his hometown and that he was very excited to be back in AZ. Thank you Judas Priest for yet another wonderful tour! I have seen the band 7 times since 1984, absolutely love this group! Just wish we could have seen SINNER, has been a long time boys...
Keep rocking with the Priest! Fan since 1976.... D of KC |

Very disappointed to to learn that Priest will not be playing with Cavelera Conspiracy here is Australia. As usual we get the raw end of the deal. To make matters worse the supports are unknown crap and the ticket price was $150 ($180 US) for the ticket when originally on sale. Now tickets are selling for $60. This is bullshit. To make matters worse Priest are schedulled to play for 80 fucking minutes. What the hell is going on. I have been a Priest fan for in excess of 20 years but this is very disappointing. I am also travelling 1000 kms to get to the concert. This fuck up is not on especially a week from the gig. Many Priest fans over here in Oz very disappointed. Lets hope the band reconsider or play a longer set. |

Isn't it a bummer? Why don't they play it? Are they afraid people will like it?

This is has really bummed me out because i think "Sinner" was a huge part of this new great set list for this World Tour and i thought i'd finally get to hear it live with my own hears :(
I can see that the reason behind it is that they have to play a shorter set on this tour (15 songs instead of 17 as they did on the European leg) because they're playing with Heaven & Hell, Motorhead & Testament, but couldn't they take off the set "Metal Gods" (since they've been playing that one non-stop since the British Steel tour in 1980) or "Angel" ?????? I mean....... Metal Gods and Angel over SINNER??????
:'(
Guys, please send msgs if you agree so hopefully the band can hear about it and give us the honor of listening to "SINNER" on this American Tour!!! We have been waiting for that song for WAAAAAAAAY to fucking long!!!

PNC art center NJ, setlist cut short by 5 songs Because of Holmdels bullshit noise ordinance. Less than an hour and a half of Priest? WTF? PNC's security sucked. How could I miss most of 4 songs from the second row center? Answer! a bunch of drunken idiots trying to get to the stage that were trampling everyone in site including Me and my Wife as security is watching this happen and shrugging his shoulders as I'm telling him to do something about it. And then 4 idiots get past security and get on stage during the concert. Nothing against Priest this was out of their control , But alot against PNC art center, This was the Worst Priest show ever at PNC and I've seen them in concert Here in the past few years and had a Great time. I've seen them elsewhere and had a Great time. I've been a true fan for 32 years and have always enjoyed their concerts. I have to agree the sound was Great . The meet and greet was a cattle call at best. Don't bring a camera, we'll post the picture on our website for you, OK ,went to see my picture with the band and low and behold it's not there, Nor are alot of fans pictures who paid their good hard earned money. Would I ever pay $400.00 for a ticket with a meet and greet again? NO F--king way. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the best, I rate this concert at PNC a -2.

Sorry about the cancellation NZ, but OMG!!! Just came back from seeing the mighty Priest play in Winnipeg, and they were amazing!! The setlist was the same as what MapleSyrup mentioned in this thread, and I was very impressed by the band! In a way I'm disappointed it's over now since it'll likely be another 3+ years before I see them again. Unless they play somewhere closeby for the Nostradamus set. They mentioned in a radio interview that they would do shows of the whole CD in 2009, but I can just imagine that it won't be in all the places they're playing now. That CD is amazing. Love it! Thanks for the awesome shows boys, you impress me time and again! See you soon. |

Please Priest, I think us New Zealanders deserve a proper explanation.
You're scheduled to play in Las Vegas on the 1st of September and originally Auckland on the 7th of September with your next gig in Australia on the 10th.
What is stopping you from stopping over in New Zealand on your way from Las Vegas to Australia?
Please, we deserve an explanation. I honestly felt like crying when I found out the concert had been cancelled. |

Seems to me the price of gas is affecting a lot of bands, especially the small ones that are fighting for their big break.
I really don't like to think about the business side of music myself because it really takes away the magic of all that is metal, especially since business tends to attract some greedy and aggressive S.O.B's, but I think JP and the rest of the circus still makes a lot of $$$$ each night.
I think it may have to do more with the interest shown by the cities to have JP play there and the number of available venues and all that ladeeda.
The US dollar is lower now but its worth compared to the vast majority of currencies around the world is still pretty high. Sure, it's not the British pound or the Euro but it's not the Yuan either.
My 2 US cents. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by tasnam1 from Thursday, July 24, 2008 7:09:11 PM) | | tasnam1 wrote: | | Most people do not think the same way business promotors and business people think. Judas Priest, managemnt and promotors are business people.
The reason they are playing so few US dates is because of the current value of the US Dollar. They can make significantly more money by playing in other countries.
Notice the limited US dates. Versus those in the EU.

Will Priest come to the Southeast US???? I live in Charleston, SC and the nearest stop to me is near Washington DC (the VA stop) which is about 9 hours away. Christ, Atlanta would be a stretch with gas but I would to it for them. There is an entire quarter of the US they are neglecting. There are enough relocated metalheads to book dates in Atlanta and Miami at least. 4 dates in NY/NJ and 3 more in TX, but nothing for us. Nice. |

Not that I'm not looking forward to seeing Geezer, Tony et al, but Priest are my all time favorite band and I wish they were part of the show.
