Ha,wtf are you laughin about Evans, you don't seem too thrilled about this either....in the end you will play the Priest lottery and hope for another "Painkiller" album. Lmao
[Brian_Evans] Thursday, May 15, 2014 5:21:58 PM
Awwwwwww....poor Budred...only gets 3 tracks while the rest of us get 13.....
Just remember Bud....it ain't rocket science...don't be so picky, man!
[J.D. DIAMOND] Thursday, May 15, 2014 4:39:02 PM
Yes the album cover RULZ! Very clever JP!

The other sample "March Of The Damned"?
Neah, you will not be thrilled with this one either Budred,I think I have an idea of what you wanted out of this album and so far it aint there...look on the bright side, the album has 13 tracks....there should be "3" tracks on this entire album that is for you man....

So far I LOVE what I'm hearing....hell yeahba!!!
[Budred] Thursday, May 15, 2014 3:25:20 PM

I'm digging the cover art also. It got me a little excited to hear the new CD.

I'm afraid to listen to the other release (sample?). A couple more months. Man I hope this thing rocks!

[Budred] Thursday, May 15, 2014 3:15:07 PM

Ok cool. I had no clue. I never really payed attention to anything Priest before Rob, KK, and Glenn. I knew of Al Atkins but none of the others and didn't know anything about any riffs between any of them. I was going to go see Al Atkins last year in Pittsburgh but passed. Now I'm glad I did.

[J.D. DIAMOND] Thursday, May 15, 2014 3:12:01 PM
Holy shit guys the new album cover art work KICKS MAJOR ASS!! Hell yeah, this cover is even better than Painkiller, this cover is easily in the top 3 of thiers.....

Head Banger,I have a hunch the new lp "may" be than A.O.R.!
[Head banger] Thursday, May 15, 2014 7:51:01 AM

I read about that online yesterday so I didn't click your link but online they posted an Al Atkins post. I noticed he couldn't help but bash K.K. Downing calling him amateurish compared to Chataway. I didn't know there was any kind of riff between the two. Anyone have a clue what Atkins beef is or am I reading too much into his post? Anyone?

Lord Of Texas nice to see a post from you...

Yeah I think the track is cool too,for me every track doesn't have to be rocket science man. First listen reminded me of hints of Hell Patrol, and looking around online there are tons of other comments saying the exact same thing.

However for me personally I actually prefer Redeemer Of Souls, but still like Hell Patrol of course.Perhaps the negative comments, besides the few who actually don't like the track, are individuals who have too high of expectations of what they wanted to hear....

Perhaps management could of released a much more agressive track from the album to start with and that would of got more positive feedback...

In 1990 if they would of released the song Hell
first as a single/video instead of the song Painkiller, then the response would of been similar....

I liked the song it rocks just fine .Can't wait to hear the rest,

[J.D. DIAMOND] Saturday, May 03, 2014 10:29:35 PM
Yeah I got "butt hurt" over it,actually it doesn't bother me at all Budred but arguing over something as simple and meaningless as this takes me away from all the "SHIT" we have to deal with in the real world every day.

Yeah another question....I wonder if the first track on the lp ( Dragonaut ) is an instrumental or a track with lyrics ......
[Budred] Friday, May 02, 2014 2:55:21 PM

@JD, I just posted that to play around. You seem to be a little bothered by the negativity but it's getting praise also so don't worry about it. I'm not bailing on the album yet. I know one song doesn't make a CD and every Priest CD has at least one track I don't like. I wish this song was heavier but I'm not trashing them over it. I'll wait for the disc to come out and I'll buy it and listen and if I like it I'll let everyone know, if not, I'll post about that too. (lol)

[J.D. DIAMOND] Friday, May 02, 2014 5:25:45 AM
Why does every Priest song have to be some high level heavy extra smart track? The thing is,from Rocka Rolla till now they have had a massive "variety" of material, yet people think they should NOT write songs like "Desert Plains" or even "Leather Rebel"....many think this track is "weak" too but just because they intentionally wrote and created it,recorded it the way it is,those who think its weak think it should be on the Painkiller song's level of heaviness and power blah.

Perhaps those who only like every heavy track only, are not over all Judas Priest fans but fans of the heavier side of Judas Priest only, thats cool....whatever floats thier boat.

I strongly disagree that Redeemer Of Souls is "weak" in any way. Its a fuckin Judas Priest track and to my ears it is a "heavy" track. Is it thier best song ever? Imo ....no,but does it really have to be?

I think half the fanbase likes it and half doesnt.Thats average based on every Priest song feleased for the first time, nothing new here.
[J.D. DIAMOND] Friday, May 02, 2014 5:06:30 AM
This track Redeemer of Souls doesnt "SOUND" anything remotely close to Made Of Metal,I don't know what your hearing man,I know you dont like the track, but there is no way it sounds like Made of metal,I cant hear that whatsoever.

If you just like the heavier side of Priest, hats off to you man.

For me,I adore thier heavy stuff,Painkiller,All Guns,Meltdown,Freewheel,Electric Eye,SFV title track,Heavy Duty....but just because they are more powerful than "Turning Circles" or "The Rage" or "A Touch Of Evil" or "Rock Hard Ride Free"...
"Killing Machine", .....Dont Have To Be Old....doesnt mean they are all "better". Some may think these tacks are weak with lackluster finishes, others like myself deem them as ultra Priest classics. Just like Wheels Of Fire....it is simple, not heavier than others but kicks ass.Iys a matter of opinion man.
[J.D. DIAMOND] Friday, May 02, 2014 4:50:02 AM
@Budred....you say of course Priest has weak songs ect.....I am mot saying they dont, but who said EVERY track was "heavy"? Rob said the lp is fking heavy. Could it be he is talking about the majority of it? of course he is,look at every Priest album Budred, every one has a song thats not "full of power"....dude.....they do this "intentionally" ...

Look at AOR.....You have tracks like Demonizer,Hellrider,Judas Rising that are on a level, and when they wrote "worth fighting for" they didnt fuck up in the studio bro, they MEANT to record this track the way it sounds.

Look at Screaming For Vengeance...track # 4 and #5...side one....Take These Chains,Pain & Pleasure....you can say they are "weak"....but they are supposed to sound this way
....its called style man. I just dont get where your coming from.

Priest has tons of mediocre tracks, but to some those tracks are killer man
[Budred] Friday, May 02, 2014 2:34:18 AM

Of course Priest has weak songs. Every band does. Priest has 10 strong songs for every weak one though and people have learned to expect more from such a Metal band. It doesn't matter if they are 60 or not you can still make heavy music. This song has no power to it whatsoever it's mediocre and nothing in this song grabs you and says wow this is heavy. It just goes along with a steady non exciting beat with a little guitar work in the middle and then a lackluster finish. I think the majority of people who don't like it also admitted that this could still be an awesome album as long as this "is" one of the weaker ones and not similar to the entire cd. The comparisons to "Made In Metal" and sounding like one of it's leftovers to me is perfect. Exactly what it reminds me of. I just hope the rest of it is good.

[J.D. DIAMOND] Friday, May 02, 2014 12:53:21 AM
Head Banger totally right? Its like these so called Priest fans somehow have heard a Priest album where every track is like the song Metal Meltdown?

We are still yet to hear such an album....to be honest,I wouldnt want such a record, cause we wouldnt get "the other side" of Judas Priest.

Im not saying we all have to like this new Track but after especially they are now over 60 and they arent even experimenting this time....and people are still bitc hing about it.....

Not saying Revolution is a crappy song, but I believe this track is much better....I think you do too....imagine if this were in place of Revolution....it would of made AOR that much better!

Yeah, the trashing of the new track is fuckin over rated trend.
[Head banger] Thursday, May 01, 2014 9:12:38 PM
Lots of older songs would be weak today. ShAGR would be weak for sure. everyone would be upset. there is no pleasing everyone

@grinder...... Duh.....dude I LOVE Rocka Rolla and every song I mentioned! My point is this song is not much different. If any of those songs were released today, you would be whining calling them weak too. Some Heads Are Gonna Roll.....yes,I bought Defenders in 1984 when it came out when I was 14.....been into Priest scince 1981 religiously so dont need the history leason guy....

If Some Heads Are Gonna Roll came out right now instead of 1984 YOU along with other wankers would call it "weak". Hands down.,especially if you think this track is weak. I dont think SHAGR is weak, but you would. Pain And Pleasure....same thing dude...yes I love that track....but you would be bitching right now if they released Pain And Pleasure instead of Redeemer Of Souls had it wasnt released in 1982. The song isnt fucking "weak"....every Priest track isnt Painkiller.Think about it bud.
[Grinder] Thursday, May 01, 2014 7:44:33 AM
 @ diamond

You are clearly delusional. Rocka Rolla was not boring, just wasn't produced very well. The songwriting was inspired, the guitar work was incredible, and no one on the planet could match Rob's vocals. Maybe you don't like it because it is not "metal" but Priest wasn't a metal band back then. Dreamer Deceiver boring? Rock Hard, Ride Free? Put down that pipe because it is destroying your brain. And for the record I didn't call the new song boring, I called it weak. Which is exactly what it is.
[J.D. DIAMOND] Thursday, May 01, 2014 6:14:13 AM
Opps, that doulble post is,once again,a tribute to Jimmy Two Times ha.

You know thinking about it,like the track or not if its still boring, then half of Priest's discography is
too, this band is half boring according to half its fanbase lofl.

[J.D. DIAMOND] Thursday, May 01, 2014 12:56:48 AM
I'm glad K.K. went golfing, and the rest of the band continued to put out classic metal. Especially at this age.... If Downing would of stayed and got along with the rest of the band, then this album would of been Nostradamus #2.

If this song is weak and boring, then so is the entire Rocka Rolla lp...Epitaph,and Dreamer Deceiver,Side 2 of Sin After Sin,White Heat,Killing Machine,The Rage...Desert Plains,Pain & Pleasure,Rock Hard Ride Free,Hell Patrol,Leather Rebel....A Touch Of Evil....these are just a few to name that....if these songs I mentioned were released right now instead of Redeemer Of Souls, then this entire forum would be bitching far worse....thats a fact

I think KK had the right idea. Just wish the rest of the guys did the same thing. This song is so weak, and this is the title track? It sounds like a leftover from Halfords Made of Metal album, which wasn't very good either. Sad day indeed. Call for the Priest.....I'm dying.

SOMEBODY LET ME KNOW WHEN "REDEEMER OF SOULS" FIRST POSTED ON YOUTUBE

[Tania2194AD] Wednesday, April 30, 2014 8:36:53 AM

"Sometimes in the past we may have come under fire for being too adventurous musically - so we have listened!! From start to finish 'Redeemer of Souls' is 13 songs of pure classic Priest metal!!" - GLENN TIPTON

[J.D. DIAMOND] Tuesday, April 29, 2014 12:07:20 PM
yeah,your over doing it. Lol.

We shouldn't of even got this record anyways, they should be on vacation but they thought we needed another heavy metal album?

You know, this may not be Priest's best out put but I'm not sure many realize how lucky we are to even be able to critisize a new Priest song in the year 2014.

not saying that because of this, people should like the track, but the actual gripes about the Redeemer track I think are over rated...Priest has tons of songs that are like this and its not "Parental Guidance" .

[Budred] Tuesday, April 29, 2014 10:43:46 AM

@JD

Sorry man but I think you are misunderstanding me a little.

Just for clarity, I am not hurt by what you said. I temper my comments not because I'm worried what others will think of my opinion but because I do "not" want to be confrontational anymore. I try to word my posts so i don't sound that way. I am not trying to force myself to like this track, I just wanted to make sure in my head that I didn't like it before I said so. I don't think it is a terrible song I just like heavier stuff. When I commented about not influencing others based on my opinions that was just humorous sarcasm because I know that most here do not share my views and I'm not trying to get anyone to. My goals here (now) are to post occasionally, speak my mind without offending, And no more confrontation even if it means backing down from it. I don't try to force myself on anyone like I used to either and more than a few posts in a day make me slow it down so I don't saturate a thread. I'll probably make this my last post for awhile because I feel I'm overdoing it now.

[J.D. DIAMOND] Tuesday, April 29, 2014 6:07:34 AM
According to Rolling Stone.com,Redeemer Of Souls has "13" tracks on it,and not "18" which blabbermouth says it has. Hopefully it only has 13 tracks.
[J.D. DIAMOND] Tuesday, April 29, 2014 3:50:03 AM
@Budred....I wouldn't make a point to watch what you post so others "may" feel something negative because of your post expressing your disliking of the new track and feel that way too......if they need "your post" to make up thier minds, then they have no business having thier "own" opinion lol.....fuck em" ha. You have every right to post your opinion, even if its something somebody diesnt want to hear.....including myself.....yeah...fuck em" lol.

It is what it is.....shit for all I know,I may hear the rest of the album and only like this song! If thats what ends up happening, then so be it...I will not force myself to loke anything, not saying that you are....just sayin....I do like this track though...totally what icecreamman had said it reminded him of a track like Hell Patrol thats inbetween to other metal classics ect....but thats just a vision....we will all have to wait and see.

Im just lucky so far that I like this track more I listen to it,the better it gets....just really wanted to hear a good track with SIMPLICITY. Hail Redeemer Of Souls and hail the almighty Priest!!!!
[Budred] Tuesday, April 29, 2014 3:17:47 AM

just saw I didn't erase @everyone when I edited my post to JD. I was expressing displeasure with a track (now 2, heard another last night I didn't care for) from another band I like. I didn't name them last night or now only because I didn't want to detract from the Priest discussion. There are a few people posting that I haven't seen post before, I thought that was cool so I deleted that part.

[Budred] Tuesday, April 29, 2014 2:33:20 AM

@JD, who said anything about being hurt. I was smiling and I made a point to watch what I post so others wouldn't feel that way. Things don't bother me like they used too. I try to temper myself and express myself and then if people disagree so be it.

[Scramble] Monday, April 28, 2014 11:57:52 PM
The new song is good, I'm not blown away like the first time I heard the song "Nostradamus". It's more like the feeling I got when I heard "Revolution". I know they can do better.

[J.D. DIAMOND] Monday, April 28, 2014 8:05:12 PM
Icecreamman ....Thats what I visioned 100%. You and I were taken back to hints of the Painkiller album's style when hearing this new track...consider ourselves LUCKY! This track totally blows away Revolution by far!
[J.D. DIAMOND] Monday, April 28, 2014 7:51:44 PM
@Budred,
Ha,yeah its all good dude.Didnt mean anything by it,just that I figured you wouldnt like this track....when ever Evans and hellrider posts, they will not like it either, just from your posts over the last few years is why I predicted that statement. If you only like 3 tracks from Painkiller, then actually AOR and this new lp didnt have much of a shot with you in the first place, which is "ok" dude,no need to get butt hurt about it. I also predict HRMG will not be thrilled with this either based on her demands for her ideas of what to expect to hear, same with spa...its all good man,we all cant like the same things.

Members I did predict to like this song was Guido,Head Banger,Becks...so I wasnt off by much lol. Hey,I was on the other side of the fence when Nostradamus was out....lucky for me I really like Redeemer Of Souls....I just cant wait to hear the rest....18 songs....I hope 4 are instrumentals.....
[Budred] Monday, April 28, 2014 7:17:24 PM

@JD

I couldn't help but smile at that. ...knew Budred wouldn't like it. My mind wasn't made up before I heard it.

Just listened to Redeemer of Souls. Hmmm...I dunno. It's heavy, alright. Not a big fan of the vocals, though. Doesn't draw me into the story of the Redeemer. At least not yet. Maybe after a few more listens?

My big worry, though, is the rumored amount of tracks in this new album. 17-18 songs?!? How many will be throw-away songs? Motorhead's latest album, Aftershock, has 14 songs in it. I can think of at least 5 that they could've eliminated from the final product. BUT! Who knows. We'll have to wait another three months for the Redeemer to arrive.
