Maybe it's time to resurrect the 'Greatest Hard Rock Album' Thread?

I think Metallo may be referring to a thread which was hanging around called 'Are Bon Jovi metal?' The answer is of course no, NO and N-O!! but someone on here must have thought it once. Worrying...

Hey, I've found a great quote on the back of my Motorhead best of CD!

'....Heavy Metal legends Motorhead were the first hard rock act to harness the energy of Punk...'

The inside sleeve notes describe the music as 'spirited rock 'n roll' (now I'm getting confused), all of which either makes Motorhead masters of genre- fusion, or their PR guys total morons. I... am opting for the latter.

metallo, are  you retarded? "Bon fucking Jovi" has never played fucking "heavy metal" and your extremely confused if you actually think that he ever has.  The "media" such as radio, magazines are just as confused as you are as they don't know thier ass from thier face when it comes to "what" is heavy metal. Do your  homework before you think you know what your talking about. Motorhead is not a heavy metal band and they should not be considered heavy metal.

Painkiller87,take Motorhead off that list!!!!!!!!   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by metallo from Friday, August 13, 2010 5:17:22 AM)

Hmmm some that need to be on the list of greatest (in no particular order):

Judas Priest: British Steel, SFV, Defenders of the Faith, Painkiller.
Saxon: Denim and Leather, The Inner Sanctum.
Iron Maiden: The Number of the Beast, Powerslave.
Hammerfall: Legacy of Kings.
Motorhead: Ace of Spades, Inferno.
Amon Amarth: Once Sent From the Golden Hall
Grim Reaper: See You In Hell.
Dio: Dream Evil.
Overkill: Feel The Fire.

That is some that I can think of so far.

Something to clarify: Bon Jovi is not Heavy Metal, but someone says he's palying HM. If you look at topics there one asking if Bon Jovi is HM, so, it means that for some people some kind of music can be classified as HM.

I only know that since I'm listening HM, early eighties, official magazine, radios, and whatever you want, used to consider HM the music played by bands such as Motorhead, Van Halen, Scorpions, Rainbow, Whitesnake, Dokken, Def Leppard, Queensryche, and so on until the end of the world.
Now you could say that Van Halen are not metal, but any metal guitarist dreamt of playing such Eddie, but then they palyed '1984' and made a 'Jump' to POP and never recovered.

Everybody gave the origin of this music to Hard Rock bands such as Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, someone consider Jimy Hendrix, someone else the Kinks, then Judas Priest gave a direction to everybody and still doing it. After it, the NWOBHM gave birth to many bands such Iron Maiden, Anvil (Canada), Acid (Belgium), Trust (France), Vanadium (Italy), Raff (Italy), Accept (Germany).

It should be that I'm a 'fucking retarded', maybe, if I'm here answering you it should be that you're right !!

Why would you say that? I don't recall ever posting anything about you. I'm noticeing
that lately most of your posts have been a little antagonizing. Speak your mind and say
what's bothering you. If it's me, tough shit, because I haven't done anything. If it's something
else you can leave me out of it. I have hardly posted anything lately just to avoid this kind of shit.
Peace!

I wouldn't be suprised if you claim Bon Jovi as a "heavy metal" band. And just a news flash for you: Motorhead is NOT a "heavy metal" band and they do not play "heavy metal music".

Ask Lemmy he will tell you : "We are Motorhead and we play Rock N Roll"!!  Yes Motorhead is a part of the 80's british heavy metal movement but they are not a heavy metal band and they do not write heavy metal songs. They are a greesey biker dirty rock and roll band and if you can't understand this you are fucking retarded.

Deep Purple in Rock is not Heavy Metal, but maybe without this album now we were talking about something else. Speed king in my opinion is so Heavy like all the Album.
Highway to hell is just because I really love it and was in honour of Bon Scott ans the sound, considering the year is not so far from HM.
For what concern Motorhead, I not agree with you. Thay are HM!!! If not why someone talk about Bon Jovi as a metal band ? Are we joking ?

Motorhead IS a part of the British Heavy Metal movement and sometimes do have heavy metal riffs but for the most part they are not "heavy metal" but I can see why you threw them in but Deep Purple and AC/DC are NOT heavy metal!!!!!!
So really all 3 you mentioned are not heavy metal albums at all.

My favorite Priest album is Screaming For Vengeance, but if is about the best Heavy Metal album of all times, this must be one and only one, their finest moment, their meanier, metalliest, faster, unmercyfullest  album of all:
