Downing: "There has been an ongoing breakdown in working relationship between myself, elements of the band, and the band's management for some time."
Why is he so cryptic? "Elements of the band". What exactly does that mean? Come out and tell everyone exactly why you refuse to go on and give Judas Priest a proud ending! There can't be a Farewell tour without KK Downing - NO guitarist is going to feel comfortable trying to hit Downing's licks/solos and it's not going to sound like Judas Priest.
And HALFORD knew all about this before Christmas!!! So he's been lying! Before and after Christmas he's been talking about this huge Farewell Tour and album and he knew all along that Downing had trouble with it all!
http://www.marshallofrock.com/rob-halford-talks-k-k-downings-departure-k-k-releases-reasons-for-leaving-judas-priest/
And Management is to fault, as well for not fixing this.
The whole thing stinks to high heaven.

I for one I'm totally gobsmacked that KK has left the band. I'm still going to see em on tour but it won;t feel the same without KK. I've seen Priest live every tour with Bobby since 1981. I didn;t go until Bobby came back I couldn t imagine somebody else singing for Priest. No disrespect to this new guy but the same with him I'm dreading him standing in KK s place on stage. I hope KK comes back but I;ve got a feeling now he;s made his mind up that will be it. It won;t be the same without him I m just totally shocked. |

I can't agree entirely on your post but after the tour and album maybe they should call it a day.
My very first post on this subject pretty much said that. Knowing that they have been a part of my life
for over 30 years it hurts me to say it but in my heart that's what I believe. As much as I hate getting
older I am so thankful that I got to experience them in their prime as many times as I have. I read
about the younger people on here who love Priest and can only feel bad that they didn't get to
experience Priest back in the day. Man they were so freakin' awesome. My brother is a diehard Metallica
fan and always thought they were better than Priest. I bought him a ticket to Operation Rock and Roll.
Afterwards he was like "Dude, That was baddest concert I ever went to. These guys are the best live
band out there". I just smiled, I already knew that. [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by J.D. DIAMOND from Friday, April 22, 2011 12:13:11 PM) | | J.D. Let the Masters Of Metal step down for good and lay the band to rest. I can't possibly see the band live without K.K. I haven't seen Priest live since the 1988 Ram It Down tour and unfortunately I never will see them again, ever. I should of went to the Retribution tour but missed it,but then again who cares.
I just want one more last album thats awsome even without K.K. and then put JP to rest and bury them respectfully. Saxon will fullfill my metal needs from here on out,and I have other extreme metal bands to fill my heavy cravings.

I agree icecreamman, Demolition was definitely plagued by bad lyrics. I also didn't like the way that Ripper sang the songs. They definitely missed Rob's song writing ability and it showed. The music was great and I like Rippers voice, I just don't feel like the lyrics were very good and the way he sang them could have been dramatically improved. I certainly hope they bring Tom back and make it their heaviest album yet!!!
Bud, I've always been grateful to Ripper for keeping the band alive. It just wasn't Priest without Rob though. Ripper had talent for sure and filled in well for Rob singing the old songs. I just think he lacked in song writing ability.

Talking about sound, don't hope too much, if you don't want to be disappointed. Last time Glenn had the keys, remember what he did with. Yes remind you Demolition. If Nostradamus can easily be criticized, what could we say about this one ?
Second thing, till Judas Priest don't provides the means for an album, they won't do a good one anymore. AOR an Nostradamus ain't that bad, but ain't that good either. In my opinion, This stuff is just suffering of a lack of "soul". why ? because it's home studio made, a piece done in England, another in phoenix, but anything together. They would have need to share some time to work together, in a real studio, with some real technicians, engineers and producer. with more amps and microphones and less pro tools. Do you think it will change ? Well, i don't.

The "sound" of the next Priest album MUST sound like "Priest" this is very critical. I think now that they have lost K.K. they MUST harken backk to the Painkiller album reguardless id Halford can hit the high notes or not, just his normal voice and the music on Painkiller would be good enough if the song quality is excellent and the songs themselves are excllent.....
Yah the sound itself must sound like Priest, there is no room for experimental anymore. I think Rob and Gleen can pull this off together man. Where is Hellrider!!!! Now we do need some in your face Judas Priest styled heavy metal because now nobody, not even K.K. is holding them back, the Priest will be unleashed once again if Rob and Glenn can pull this off!!!!

Jimmy you may be right,I don't know the band and I'm just guessing here. Anything is possible when it comes to this lame news. Everybody has thier own opinion of what they want. Some want the band to hang it up and retire now, some don't. I want to hear one last real heavy metal album. And if K.K. is having issues with the direction of the band that leaves us to wonder what the next LP will sound like. If its total metal and heavy, this will lead to the belief that K.K. didn't want to make a heavy album,or possibly didn't want to make an album at all. We'll see though.
