Oh, WAY kewl, Vail. I'll take that 10cent full scrub, please.

As you and Becks have both been there, what is the last (first posted) pic in this string? Cart to pull the silver out of the mine I would guess? Wonderful pix! Thanks for sharing - even though I think I see my calling in bringing some tumbleweed to that town!

BTW, loooong days here (midnight on Brittany time and just getting in...sun goes down at about 11pm!) but only a few more to go. Off to Paris tomorrow for the last leg. Sat on the fortress wall tonight and have been "Priest deprived" lately so a good burst of Devil's Child looking out over the water having a nice aperitif de Bretagne was a nice last moment here even if it was all by my lonesome.

Nice pics Vail, and for once I can actually say, I've been there! LOL! We thought it was neat, if very very hot lol.

You must be thinking of what we call crawlies, those little mini crayfish. Crayfish is what we call lobsters.

"Schooool's out for summer!" Sorry, I'll stop.

Yup, that building was once a schoolhouse.

That mountain below is MUCH more colorful in person. I think I took 10 pics of this mountain alone! Somebody use their fancy Photoshop skills to enhance the colors!

Ol' Calico was the main place for silver mining in the late nineteenth century. If you look close enough at this pic you can see the entrance to the mine.

Calico suffered from a couple of large fires. Apparently this was the 1880s version of the fire hydrant.

Back scrub, anyone?

Alright, gotta stop.

I went to Calico Ghost Town. About a two-hour drive from LA. Very nice place.

No, still? Well then, how about this:

"Break on through, to the other side! Break on through, to the other side!" <---Wait, that's The Doors....

And yes, that house has glass bottles inserted into its walls. Nice little thing. Sold nothing but zombie/Walking Dead related stuff.

[Vaillant 3.0] Sunday, May 10, 2015 10:20:04 PM
No? Okay, how about:

"Hell bent, hell bent for leather..."

Thanks, Becks!

Yup, saw her again tonight. Smoker (didn't see that one last night) and really out of shape so you are right...no valid opinion on the matter. I did mention your point about the wreck dives (wonderful - I love 'em) and the lobsters but crayfish? Unless you can catch about a few hundred of those little suckers, I wouldn't think that anyone dives for them. No matter as the woman did a 180 on me and said that she had heard that there is wonderful diving in NZ. Hmmm..... Curious.

[Becks] Saturday, May 09, 2015 8:11:43 PM
Well if she is not a scuba diver her opinion is void on that matter lol. There is good diving, I don't know where not being a scuba diver either, I have a friend whose husband dives for crayfish (lobsters?) down in the South Island, and up North you can dive the wreck of the Rainbow Warrior (greenpeace ship bombed by French intelligence agents in the 80s).

"Pounding the world, like a battering RAMMMMMMM!!!!"

Couldn't resist. Got a bit of a tour going out to a Medieval castle here in Brittany today. Way kewl. As it is Sat, I also spoke with a woman from Amsterdam tonight while sipping on a lovely home-made strawberry rum. Said lady SWORE that there was no good diving in New Zealand. Becks? Any comment? That, I find hard to believe. Woman was admittedly not a scuba diver herself but I really question that one. I need some ammo to back up what I doubt should I ever see this lady again!

Anyhoo, the first thing you see at the castle gates! A battering RAMMMMMM!!

Packing for France! You KNOW you are a JP junkie when you are like the babysitter from "Goodfellas" who won't fly without her lucky hat. Damn, forget packing clothes, where is my travelling JP cross?

Thanks but what reflection? The only one was the tram house (showing 27 degrees but it was MUCH colder with windchill and when I hiked to the very top). That shot in the gondola with the JP cross and cowbow on a horse was painted on the gondola window itself.

Where the shot was taken of the actual JP cross. 10,000 feet+ up in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Had to kick off my skis and hike to the very top! A directional, seemingly copper post at the top. Damn, all but out of breath at that height and double blacks are the only way down! LOL! JUMP!!! Ummmm....slope is behind me as you can see the "no ski zone" rope / sign on that stand. HAD to climb it, though.

Sorry, Tas, no message.

Gondola up to almost the top, though. I was alone so clasped the JP cross between the window and opening. The shadow of the Jackson Hole is the inside / symbol of the place. Almost got a good shot of a gondola coming down.

Greetings from Jackson Hole, Wyoming! First day of skiing was today. DAMN impressive mountain range. HAD to do the summit today as it was so beautiful. 10,000+ feet elevation and double blacks runs most of the way down. Took EASILY 40 minutes. I'll certainly feel that burn tomorrow.

Hopefully see you next week, folks!

I've been to Universal Studios. YEARS ago. With family and whatnot. Nowadays I'd go the Hollywood equivalent for some 3D ride fun. Definitely amazing.

1 week away from my yearly sanity retreat to the Revelstoke open, 3 days of golf and Bro-time !!! it is a great tournament and I believe my 12 or 13th year !!!
[guidogodoy] Tuesday, August 19, 2014 8:42:01 PM
Oh, it was way kewl. Didn't know it at the time but, apparently, some 90% of the fossils in the world come from Spain. Most from that region in Valladolid. Haven't looked it up but I assume that they mean human fossils. The government took us on a tour of the "mankind museum" (loose translation) but we were on a tight schedule so didn't get the chance to wander around much. The dig site was great, though. I wanted to steal my hardhat but it didn't say much. Good thing they didnt' put a "Valladolid" sticker on it or something!

Great luck to be there at that time of year. Right month with no rain. A real treat / rarity.

That dig looks like such a cool place to visit! I got to see an indian village excavated when I was a kid but that has been the only dig I've ever seen. The state "found" the site while surveying for Rt. 77 to go through the area. The farmer who owned the land knew it was there all along, just didn't feel the need to tell anyone.

Would those flashes have started going off had Rob held up that flag or what?!? As we have said before, he IS a hockey fan and knew that he was at the Joe! Hell, flags all around that place and, although I don't believe I have ever been in their dressing room (not that I can remember, at least), I would think that they have a Wings flag or three back there. Could cerainly see them in the hallway and all over the stadium itself. Yup, would have been way cool.

Sadly, I think that the flag you threw up there is loooong gone. Prolly hanging on some roadie's wall somewhere....

I'd love to see Rob come out with the Red Wings flag we threw up to Glenn at The Joe during the Epitaph tour. I told Rob why we threw it up there- that had he held it up the crowd would have gone NUTS!!! I wonder what they did with it. Some of Mike Davis' friends suggested that they used it as nice satin toilet paper What do you want from Kings fans, pfffft.

Niiiiiice commercial, isn't it?! Only saw it on Fox Sports Detroit, no other channels, but I almost shit!! Haven't heard a word about it otherwise.

BTW, I meant to say that they work this site only once a MONTH as they discover so much it takes the rest of the year to clean / process, etc. I just happened to luck out as it was July (and not raining) so we could see them at work.
[guidogodoy] Monday, August 18, 2014 12:59:13 PM
By no means. The wood was usually a walkway across a grid that was marked off by letter (depth) and number (horizontal location). A smaller site from where I took the last picture is clearer:

Now here is that same site as before (just a bit up the road) where you can clearly see one guy working his section of the "grid." Apparently, he found something as there is a person standing there noting where he found it as well as a guy on that metal platform next to him on a computer marking it on a 3D grid (you can only see his foot really):

Wide view of same site:

Maybe the guy found......this! AHHHHHHHHH!

Nothing, really. Plaza Mayor. Big square, pic taken facing the bell (front). Right to the RIGHT is the image of Franco. Only one of the leaders covered with eggs! LOL!
I have a great panoramic shot that I hand-carried back from the regional gov. rep. of Salamanca. Stopped off at a Hobby Lobby to have it framed right away. Really kewl.

I studied there in HS. Love the city. Photo, obviously, after the game (facing the corner where Franco's image is mounted, BTW).

As long as I am on a posting streak. Valladolid, Spain. I got into one of the biggest dig sites in the world. they dig about a year as they get more fossils than they can processes through the rainy season. Yeah, of course I jumped under the "do not cross" wire! All those white things below are people digging. Structure above is what they already dug away to and pulled down to prevent a cave-in.

[guidogodoy] Sunday, August 17, 2014 11:35:55 PM
Right next to the Fox and across from Comerica Park. Hockeytown (got me a new puck!). Anyone who speaks shit about Detroit has no idea of the city itself. Ooooooh, dangerous looking, no?
