head north (in the summer) and try fermented walrus.  I worked with a guy who used to work for the northern compay, they run stores in places so remote yyou cant get there by helicopter.  one was a 4 day boat ride in the summer, and once a month a supply plane.  he got invited to a feast by the inuit. they just dump everything they caught on a tarp.  raw duck?  seal?  not that bad.  the walrus that was caught at the begining of the summer, had rocks piled on it, and left out for the summer?  90 days later, in a summer that is not hot, but never cools down much, and is warm for sure, its starting to get nasty.

As I was somewhat distracted yesterday, I failed to comment on the whole vegemite bit. I had occasion to try the stuff back in the 80's. There was an Australian bar in San Pedro, Ca. that I frequented on weekends where it was served right on the table. It was in a jar, just like jelly, sitting on every table. Like a moron, I stuck my knife in one and took a big taste. *yeeeeeeecccchhhh* That crap is nasty!!  (My sincerest apologies to you, 'Child and your wonderful countrymen) Oh MAN! Just awful.
Perhaps it was because I was expecting something sweet??? I don't know.

Now then guido, shall we address this whole Fred Flintstone fascination?      HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

.LOL... Men At Work.... No i don't wander around singing "I Come From A Land Down Under" Of course it gets played on Australia day and I sing along hehehe

Men at Work were an
Australian reggae-influenced rock band which achieved international success in the 1980s. They are the only Australian artists to reach the Number 1 position in album and singles charts in both the United States and the United Kingdom with Business as Usual and "Down Under" respectively.[1] The group won the 1983 Grammy Award for Best New Artist and sold over 30 million albums worldwide
HAHAHAHA Is Wikipedia correct??? did they actually win a Grammy?.... well if they can i'm sure the mighty Priest can?

Here's a link to the video if anyone is intrested...
au.youtube.com/watch

Ever heard of a band called "Powderfinger"?.... Definately my favourite Aussie rock band, and they're from Brisbane to boot!! haha I'll add a link to my favourite song of theirs if you're intrested... don't worry no cheesy 80's Aussie lyrics in this one.. just good old rock! au.youtube.com/watch   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by guidogodoy from Thursday, December 11, 2008 7:47:16 PM) Edited at: Thursday, December 11, 2008 8:49:00 PM Edited at: Thursday, December 11, 2008 8:51:47 PM

Now, then, just how do you feel about Men at Work? Ever find yourself walking around singing "I come from a land down under?" LOL!!!

Plus, where is the JP fanbase from Hawaii? I wanna know if Poi is as horrible as some claim too! Hmm...doensn't really piss me off, though. Perhaps I'll have to start a "Please pass the poi" thread in honor of Fred Flintstone.

Mmmmm Vegemite!! Fear not the Aussie is here.... OK direct from the Vegemite website is some information for those of you who know little about this delicious Australian spread:

Vegemite dates back to 1922 when the Fred Walker Company, which became Kraft Walker Foods in 1926 and Kraft Foods Limited in 1950, hired a young chemist to develop a spread from one of the richest known natural sources of the vitamin B group - Brewers Yeast
Kraft has had an on-going commitment since the 1920’s to reinforce the message to Australians that Vegemite is nearly five times more concentrated than yeast, making it one of the world’s richest known sources of the energy giving Vitamin B group.
So not only is Vegemite a part of Australia’s history, it is also good for us. For generations, Vegemite has and will remain an intrinsic part of Australian family life.

Every Australian is raised on Vegemite, I haven't met a home grown Aussie yet that doesn't like it. I think the problem for foreigners is that they spread it too thick, Vegemite has a strong salty taste and if you spread it like nutella or jam the taste will knock you off your feet.

Young man, I am NOT in charge, nor do I feel the need to be. I mention Murray out of respect (something perhaps you have not learned?) not in an effort to "name throw", as it were.  Your Huxley reference, while amusing, is not even close to accurate. I have no need to justify my comments to you, nor do you deserve the effort but, since it is clear that you wish to engage me, I shall humor you.

I have been accused of many things and I have been called many things. "Crotchety old man" is a new one, but I like it. Again, very amusing. If you had actually taken the time to do your "homework" on me, you would find that I am rarely complaining, but will do so where I feel it is needed. Clearly, you have no idea what you are talking about and are simply looking for some kind of attention.  Over the years, I have participated in foolishness just as others here have done. I have not berated or denegrated others for such nonsense. I have actually enjoyed some of it. I do not tell others how to spend their time but I certainly point out stupidity where I see it.

As for me personally, I hide from no one. I am well known here and need not shadow my thoughts or ideas. I am friend to the good as well as the bad. If you feel as though I am "talking down" to you, perhaps you should consider the position from which you speak? I certainly remain consistent, if nothing else. The people on this Board know from whence I speak, I can assure you.

As you so perceptively pointed out, there is a "Beyond the realms section. This one, by the way, is "Pissed Off". Seems somewhat appropriate to me that my "bitching" would end up in this area.  I have not censored anyone and that includes you.  I will stand for my friends when they need my help, and I will expose morons where they appear.

That sounds like a dare to me! LOL!!! Come on, where are our Aussie friends to chime in on the subject? (or at least sing along with me in a verse of "Land Down Under.")

Something I understand is equally as horrible is Poi. I want to serve it once just so I can relive a Flintstones moment where Fred has to repeat "Please pass the poi" a bunch of times because he keeps flubbing his lines! HO HO!!!

They should make a Bill Clinton commemorative coin. He was cool. He was on Letterman a few weeks back and managed to dominate and completely control Letterman and the conversation. This is extremely difficult to do as the whole set-up of the show is rigged in Lettermans favour. 99.9% of the guests on that show are wrapped around Lettermans little finger. The Horndog turned it around and there was nothing Letterman could do. He's a master communicator. Don't think Bill started any wars during his presidency either. And he was involved in that great sex scandal.

Wow, what a brave new world you lead? Some might say you are starting to sound as though you hold some sort of power on this site? Wishing to controling what threads are created!  It says in the "beyond the realms of Judas Priest" area, just above the topics, "disscus anything and everthing here". What's next, you won't  like the colors some of us use in our posts, or perhaps the smiley faces? And you love to toss Murray's name into the mix as though you are eating at his dinner table everynight? Why don't you let him do his job instead of trying to invoke some leverage by name throwing? You are not in comand of anything or anyone.  We are all equal here, so stop acting as though we are below your nose, you crotchety old man. You always seem to be on the rag, bitching and complaing about everything. Yea, just what new members want to read, that's disparaging to them. Now come down off that milk crate, from behind that curtain, and take off that wizards outfit. Who do yo think you are telling any member here, new or old how to spend their time here. If a thread is not of any intrest to you move on, as you've said there's hundreds of interesting ones here. So make use of them, and avoid the ones you hate, or might offend you. And try not to be so bitter and negative about everything. I've said my piece. This is just my opinion. And i guess my right too, huh.

"In the past, I have teased people about their spelling and grammar, admonished some for poor behavior, participated in ridiculous silliness, argued with some, discussed relevant issues and so on, but I have never, ever had the need to create a Thread. Anything I have wished to say has fit quite nicely into one of the hundreds we already have. In any event, I am certain the practice of creating Threads that are absolutely useless will continue. And I can assure you I will always complain about it. That is my right, too."   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Deep Freeze from Thursday, December 11, 2008 10:08:01 AM)

I had not noticed an "uproar", however, I can speak for myself. The reason I get upset over useless Thread after useless thread is because it seems wasteful. Additionally, it is often a vehicle for troublemakers to promote some kind of nonsense that tends to suck in the new people and those among us that simply have no self- control. This, eventually, leads to problems with fighting, insults, profanity-laced tirades and finally, Murray stepping in to close it down. I find that somewhat disparaging to our membership. I believe we are better than that. If you do not share that belief, so be it.

We have an abundance of Threads. I am almost willing to declare that every topic that can be discussed, has been discussed (to paraphrase the US Patent Office) at some point or in some other Thread. Sandwich Threads, Bikini Threads, Alcohol Threads, Pimple Cream Threads, Butt Wart Threads.  The list goes on and on. I do not expect  you or anyone else to feel compelled to agree with me. It is just my opinion. That is something else we have an abundance of around this place.

In the past, I have teased people about their spelling and grammar, admonished some for poor behavior, participated in ridiculous silliness, argued with some, discussed relevant issues and so on, but I have never, ever had the need to create a Thread. Anything I have wished to say has fit quite nicely into one of the hundreds we already have. In any event, I am certain the practice of creating Threads that are absolutely useless will continue. And I can assure you I will always complain about it. That is my right, too.

Has anyone read Judas Priest Heavy Metal Painkillers ? I like Maiden but this bothers me. Priest took them under thier wings and toured with them several times and Maiden stabbed them in the back by making comments like, we blew them away on stage. It started with Diano and Dickenson too. I believe Maiden is a little jealous. And the Point of Entry album being not as heavy as others (which I love) made them think Priest was a has been band. But in realty Diano and Dickenson started wearing leather and studs in 1980 or so and Halford brought that look  in 1978 or 1979. Priest was just trying to help another Metal band from England and never thought of them as rivals or who was better.

Seriously guys, WTF? Craig wants to talk about sandwiches. Vail wants to talk about sandwiches, since she responded. Maybe someone else wants to talk about sandwiches too, we will see.

Its in the "Beyond the Realms of Priest" section, and even if it wasnt, you still wouldnt have to read or post in it. Why not just let people talk about what they want, without starting shit over it?
