GREAT point, HB. I have seen it countless times!! The team that plays as a unit and works at the fundamentals is always victorious over the superstars. I have to laugh everytime I think of our glorious US basketball "dreamteam" that got smoked in the Olympics by a bunch of "nobody" teams a couple years ago!! HA!!!!! What a perfect example! It is amazing to see the team now. Lesson learned. Play together.

a "team" is also greater than the sum of its parts.  Good players, working together can defeat a group of the best players put on the field, playing as indidviduals.

I agree with you about everyone gets a medal, or not keeping score.  the kids know the score, and if we can teach them not to play to win, we teach them to play to lose.

on the victory celebrations, the CFL touchdown celebrations are geting realy stupid.  watching the recieving core sit down playing duck duck goose, who came up with this idea?
bring on the extra point team and move the hell on.

Very well said, Ron. Not too sure I can improve on that.
You see, I come from a time when we were taught team sport. There was no such thing as a trophy just for showing up and, if you were not good enough, you did not make the team. It did not matter what your parent thought or what some kiddie psychologigst said. If you were no good, you were no good and needed to find something else to do. Coaches taught us how to play together , to support one another. We were there to win and we knew that it would take all parts, working in unison, to achieve our objective not one guy doing it all while we admired him.

Of course there was the standout. The great player that would carry us through the tough times and gain the big yards or get the key hit when we needed it but other teams knew that as well and played to stop that particular player. At one time or another, I was actually that guy!!  Again, as a team, we could adjust to their folly and win the day. I will say this, in the entire time that I played sport, from school days right through adulthood, I never performed some stupid "victory dance" or acted out some moronic skit on the field of play. Never. Nor did any of my teammates. It was just not done. There is a certain dignity in being  a winner and moreso in being very good at what you do. I have never needed to remind anyone on the field of my ability by acting foolish. My play spoke quite loudly.

Talking about Adam 'Pacman" Jones Ron--he was suspended from TN  Titans --went to TNA wrestling --was signed to a 1 plus million   $  contract  & then was let go from there due to his big mouth  plus if ya ever saw his "in ring " skills or better yet-- lack  of  --all he did was stand & hold the ringpost up--heck I could even do that !!--then he had the nerve to back talk wrestlers from the old school--Kevin Nash--Sting --Jeff Jarrett--to name a few --the ones who paved the road for people like him--well all I can say is thank God he didn't last long there

Pardon the interruption...but I must let you know DF that I've got your back on this one...I don't want to upset Sue, considering I love her passion for the game (I wish more women would be more like Her!!!)...but I grew up despising the Cowboys (only 'cause they were so good)...but with players like T.O., if you're a true fan of the game, you can't help but loathe a player like him (and he by NO means is the only player I feel this strongly about)...if a person is a serious Cowboys fan, you have to really be concerned with the team acquiring players such as WR Williams (from Detroit) and Pac Man Jones (suspended last year, Titans)...what is Jerry Jones thinking??  These are players Al Davis (Raiders) usually pick up!!  Those are really bad T E A M players that are selfish and put themselves ahead of the the rest of the team...why do you think their former teams were 'happy' to let them go??  And what do they pass on to the younger players??

SueV --that's exactly what I was thinking --where fore art thou Tony Romeo--so what-- we added 1 extra letter to his last name --he sure does look good in his Dallas Cowboys uniform !! --& I agree if T.O. would just shut up for once & catch some passes--I think I could've caught more than him the past few games !!

HA!!!!!!!!!! Oh no, I am MUCH worse!!  RAIDERS!!!!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!!!!! Actually, the Princess likes the Raiders. I really do not have a "favorite" team in the NFL. I am a college football fan. I liked the Rams back in the 60's- 80's when they were in LA but that was a long time ago.

Well my dear, I do not wish to endanger our embryotic relationship but I must confess that I am a Dallas Cowboys Hater and I find Terrell Owens to be incredibly boorish and not nearly as talented as he believes himself to be. I do hope you will forgive me!!!!

For REAL!!  Watching that game yesterday w/o him playing made me want to hollar out "Oh, Tony ROMEO!  Tony ROMEO!  Where art thou Tony ROMEO?!"  ROFL

And it didn't help any w/ T.O yelling at team members & shit.  I'm thinking to myself, "Well, if you'd shut your trap for once, stop whining like a little BITCH,  & catch some damned PASSES today, we'd MAYBE be able to score more & possibly win the game!!!!"
I love T.O, but he was being a royal pain in the ass yesterday.  *sighs*
