OH yeah I know that feeling all too well DC.. I stay itchy for hours after I've even seen a spider or roach, Judas forbid one even touches me. Then I go into mental scratching mode. Convinced it's still on me. I've thought of getting therapy becuase it's not a healthy fear. I mean, I know I should be weary of them but the cold terror that runs through my veins at the thought of .. ughh.
I haven't bought the new Alice Cooper album because I read an interview in the Classic Rock and I had to turn the page fast because Alice had this sort of dead spider pinned to his shirt. What if there's a pic of a spider on the album sleeve? What would I do? lol [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by devils_child from Wednesday, November 05, 2008 5:02:32 PM) | | devils_child wrote: | | I usually use half a can of Roach spray to "stun" them... then i try and lob a heavy object in the direction of the roach in the hopes of squishing it. I can't get close to them though, i like to keep at least half a rooms distance between me and the roach and i ALWAYS make sure i have an exit in case it comes running at me... which they usually do. Spiders send chills down my spine.. we have some that make their nests in the trees and powerlines outside, i hate trimming the bushes because im scared i might upset one and it'll come at me fangs and all... *shudder*..
The worst thing is the feeling that lingers after an encounter with a roach or spider... You know when if something touches you slightly you jump 5 ft in the air and usually run off screaming then wondering what the hell just touched you... | | joedraper wrote: | | Well, that's the think DC.. I keep wondering if half of this is myth or fact. It keeps me up at night sometimes. It looks to me that we share the same phobia. I'm so terrified of these creatures. Ok no laughing here: I'm too afraid to swat them (and spiders) because I think; what if they make eye contact with me and I miss. They're not only going to have adrenaline pumping they're gonna be angry at me and seek out revenge right? So in total fear of missing and being attacked... I usually act extremely girly and scream for my husband to come rescue me from all things arachnid and roach like. Now, the wierd thing is that I'm not freaked out by insects or other creapy crawlies. It's just the spiders and roaches...
Oh and Vail... I when you said that you only know they're dead when you see their guts spewing out of their head and abdomen... two words TERMINATOR TWO!!!!! Ok so maybe that is very unlikely to happen but they don't call this an "unnatural" phobia for nothing lol.

On the 11th Hour, of the 11th Day of the 11th Month - The Armistace was signed ending four long years of bloody conflict
''In honour of those gallant and noble men who made the supreme sacrifice with pride, courage and integrity. Your deeds will never be forgotten. "
Today ( November 11th) is Remembrance day for those of us who live in the Commonwealth or Britain. Today we pay our respects to those who have fought and died for our country in past and current conflicts. This poem is dedicted to those who have gone before me and made so many sacrifices to make this country of mine what it is today. Lest we Forget.
For The Fallen.
With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,
England mourns her dead across the sea.
Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,
Fallen in the cause of the free.
Solemn the drums thrill; Death august and royal
Sings sorrow up unto immortal spheres.
There is music in the midst of desolation
And glory that shines upon our tears.
They went with songs to battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted;
They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
They mingle not with their laughing comrades again;
They sit no more at familiar tables of home;
They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;
They sleep beyond England's foam.
But where our desires are and our hopes profound,
Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight,
To the innermost heart of their own land they are known,
As the stars are known to the Night;
As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust,
Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain;
As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness,
To the end, to the end, they remain.

IN FLANDERS FIELDS THE POPPIES BLOW
BETWEEN THE CROSSES,ROW ON ROW
THAT MARKS OUR PLACE AND IN THE SKY
THE LARKS,STILL BRAVELY SINGING,FLY
SCARCE HEARD AMID THE GUNS BELOW
WE ARE THE DEAD,SHORT DAYS AGO
WE LIVED,FELT DAWN,SAW SUNSET GLOW;
LOVED AND WERE LOVED,AND NOW WE LIE
IN FLANDERS FIELDS
TAKE UP OUR QUARREL WITH THE FOE
TO YOU FROM FAILING HANDS WE THROW
THE TORCH; BE YOURS TO HOLD IT HIGH
IF YE BREAK FAITH WITH US WHO DIE
WE SHALL NOT SLEEP THOUGH POPPIES GROW
IN FLANDERS FIELDS
