Couldn't agree more - my son is 23 now - has one of those crippling debts u mentioned and cannae get a job anywhere! The chance of him getting housed is zero, mainly due to the amount of immigrants here - but thas another story - so i have this grumpy, unemployed lad with scads of qualifications going to waste...he HAS worked, but like u say - for peanuts...soon as he gets a job the government dock our benefits which we have to ask the boy to make up - is a no-win situation...

Nobody actually 'employs' younger people anymore, they just take them on as interns for peanuts. Apparently in the modern workplace, degrees/qualifications are essentially useless, so, after graduating from uni with little but a crippling student debt, you are expected to continue to live off parental charity until you have gained sufficient work experience to get a real job. (Of course, if you don't have a degree you will be 'underqualified' for anything bar mcdonalds).

It actually starts to make pension ages a little irrelevent, our generation will go from paying off our own debts to paying off our childrens (degree fees will be so high there is no earthly way they will be able to pay their own), so we will probably be working right up until they cart us straight from desk to nursing home.

OK, I'll put this here because I'm not really pissed off about it, so much as disgusted by it.
Riots in France for a week all because the government is going to raise retirement from 60 to 62. WTF!! They are allready spoiled enough. One month of Vacation time plus those additional National holidays, 35 hour mandated work weeks. They cry because they have to work two more years?
Anyone my age and below in the US cant reach full retirement until the age of 70 now, 40 hour work weeks are the norm if not more overtime, and Vacation time in most cases is cut at two weeks, half of us do not get sick leave, so many of us don't get company funded healthcare, and these people are crying over 2 years added to their retirement??!!!!

Maybe I'm just jelous of their extra down time, I know I'm jelous that I only hope to live to be 70 to retire, so then I can work part time someplace to subplement my non existent social security check.

Really? Too bad I missed it. I could have had my mother go stand on her roof and wave to you.

I saw a show last night about 1000 places to visit before you die. This episode was on Brazil. While nice in terms of scenery, the narrator's voice was distracting to the point of irritation. Perhaps nobody told him that they speak Portuguese? He couldn't even get the name "Rio de Janeiro" right. UGH!

It's the name of the county. Bland. Great right? HA!!!

I would be happy to have her finish out her days as a Rocky Gap High girl. And no,..... I wouldn't leave a stray dog at the site the school has designated as her "bus stop". We live on a dead end road so they considered it too difficult for the bus to turn around in this area, although if they got rid of the 18 wheeler who parks there 5 days out of 7 the bus could do a loopty on her stop and pick her up at her home.

Very smart move about not leaving a girl alone at such a stop! Two things strike me as sad about such a situation: first, that you have to worry about such things alone and second that too many idiot parents DON'T!

Seriously, though....the school is called "Bland High?!" HAAAA!!!! Surely, there must be a "Spicy High" somewhere. Both might go to "Podunk U" after.

Actually that bus works daily. Since the sports teams have been combined to a county wide senario since they don't have enough kids in the county for each school to have their own sports teams. So, the bus does get a workout. But I suppose highway miles are way better.

I just hope Flora's local high school stays open long enough for her to graduate. If not, then I will be forced to drive her to school each day to Bland High and that would really mess up my routine. Her bus stop is not safe. She would have to stand on the main road through our little town which is just a 20 foot turn from the interstate, and she would be the only child standing at that stop. NOT going to happen.

long drives cause less wear and tear than a regular route, picking up and droping kids off is hard work on the bus, lots of stop and start.  plus they probably dont have a field trip daily.

Now, for most people, that explanation would be enough. But, sadly, no for me. Flora told me yesterday that her bus driver Flo (believe or not) had to retire her bus last year. It did not leave the school though because it is now the "Activity Bus". Now, this bus was deemed unfit for regular routes but is now the "activity bus"?? This bus now travels up to 3 hours one way in it's duty. So, I am really curious to know how many miles are on it.
Well, I guess I'll just have to ask Flo how many miles the bus had on it when it was retired from "regular" service. Better yet! I'll get Flora to ask her!

Good Saturday afternoon Blah!
Just listened to Halford IV for six hours straight, got home and had to look up a question which occured to me while driving. Still have not had this questioned answered by a internet search. My question is mundane (and completely unrelated to the beginning of this post), but I want to know:  What is the maximum mileage for a school bus without completely replacing the engine???? Only thoughts like this occur to you while driving for a long time, and happening to pass a few "reassigned" school buses.

Vail, good for you going to see Halford!

Becks, I hope Metallica brings their "real" Metal to the show.

It was, LOG was average, I don't like the way the signer does his thing LOL all that growly can't really tell what he's saying stuff.
So here's a mini review of Metallica finally, after a busy few days lol! They opened with two tracks from Death Magnetic, which were pretty good, but for me the highlight was For Whom the Bell Tolls. Other oldies they played included Seek and Destroy, One, And Justice for All, Master of Puppets. The special effects they had were excellent - my friend and I were a fair way back in the seated area (with a good view) and could feel the heat coming off the flames they had occasionally. There was heaps of lasers and other nifty stuff, and coffin shaped lighting rigs that moved around. Plenty of idiots at the gig too, and plenty of people who were there just cos it was Metallica. Reason I could tell this with one dude is as follows - as anyone who has been a 'proper' fan of Metallica would know, the Bay Area thing pops up often. One of the t-shirts at the merch cart had Bay Area on it. A young dude (maybe 17?) was standing next to me and said 'Ba area??? What's that? I don't think it's Bat Area??' then someone finally explained to him it was Bay Area. Hmmm, lol. Anyways, the gig was great, the best bits involved the oldies, but overall it was worth the money and I am glad I went. Seen as Craig missed out I bought him a tour shirt and posted it to him

I'm home! Metallica was awesome, they played for over 2 hours and played plenty of old stuff so I was happy LOL! Lamb Of God opened, they were ok.

Oh man that is a terrible chain of events! Computer problems are always a pain in the behind, I am still trying to save up for a new laptop after unsuccesfully trying to fix my old one for over a year. I am lucky to have never had anything stolen (despite all the CDs and video games I own as well as other valuables!) though I am always as vigilant as possible. Well it can only get better from here and I hope you get well from your throat infection!

I think its been an age since I've been on here, well at least 2 and a half weeks- the time its taken for the shop to fix my computer. Its been a bit stressful (not to mention expensive) especially as during that time I had my bag stolen- phone, wallet, mp3 player, drivers licence... I've been pretty much marooned at university with no way of contacting anyone!
Still, things are getting better (except I've lost my voice- throat infection.)

Hope your toe gets better quick Painkiller!

Oh man what a day. At least the road to recovery won't be too bad. It didn't take long for the procedure to get done and now I have to keep my foot elevated most of the time. Most of my weekend was video games and being with friends, and on Saturday went with my dad to go see the U of A football game. We kept getting beat offensively almost the whole game and we almost came back to win too. Ah well at least we are still doing well this season though our schedule will soon be hell when we face some of the stronger Pac-10 opponents such as Oregon and Stanford (both on the road too). I also had Monday off too thanks to Columbus Day giving me more time to relax. That's whats happening with me. Hope everyone had a good weekend too and I want to hear how everyone else is doing!

Heya everybody, hope you're all well!  I'm off to see Metallica tonight, so I'm getting ready to catch my flight soon lol. Hope they play lots of old stuff.

Hey everyone. Gotta make it brief before I get back to work. Got my toe fixed for the ingrown toenail today and have to do a new regimen for two weeks, weekend was good though U of A lost to Oregon State 29-27 here at home. Will see everyone later in the day!

Hey, PK!! How's it going?? Good luck with those ingrown toenails. They must hurt alot. And speaking of doctor, I'll have to find one for my eyesight soon. As of late I feel as though I can see better without glasses than with them on, which is probably a bad thing. Plus, I ran out of contact lenses while in Berlin, so I gotta replenish my supply soon.

My weekend was great! Mainly because I bought my ticket to see Halford in Anaheim this December!!! Can't wait!!!!!

Man I cannot catch a break today! I had a doctor's appointment this morning and am still recovering from the concert on Saturday. Alice Cooper and Rob Zombie just plain kicked ass! I give a 10 out of 10 for both of their performances and I never knew how crazy Rob Zombie's performances were until now, and it was EPIC!!!

Overall my weekend was great and but now I have to go to a podiatrist (foot doctor) to fix an ingrown toe nail that is bad on both sides but fortunately on only one big toe. I have to get there at least 15 - 20 minutes early to get some paperwork done since I am a new patient with this doctor (just like this morning for the checkup) and then have to get a little procedure done. Plus I have to take antibiotics for a week but that's not too bad so far.

Hope everyone has a great week and let me know how everyone else's weekend went!

That is FANTASTIC news Becks!! Sounds like they got the clot busters in quickly so that it limited the damage. Very good sign that he is already talking much better. I hope he continues to improve and hopefully he will be back to himself in no time.

If he can let his emotion come with the words, chances are he will be just fine.

Checking in late, not supposed to be typing. But for this, I want to give you hope and to encourage him to get those pistons firing. Therapy is great for this, and I hope to hear he gets back to snuff.

Now, by all................Can type no more...
