Ahhh...you see? And that would be your undoing, Mr.! You'd be tossed out on your ear as your "alternative lifestyle" cover would be blown! Wait, that didn't come out right...wait...that either.

I loved Don Knotts! "You've Got to Nip it in the Bud!" Barney Fife, grew up watching that, and still see it today.

I'm sure the midlands hold a special place in their hearts! After all, without the support starting from there, we would never have had the Pleasure of a world tour!

Especially the part about making the fort. I find it best when you start by putting the boxspring against the mattress in an A-frame closing off one side with the wall then draping the sheets over the top and open side.
Pillows make nice flooring material.

I will tell you one thing, serious insomnia or no. I have read a ton on the subject (usually late at night when I can't sleep...heh) and every person advises not to stay in bed if you don't fall asleep in 20-30 minutes or so. Some say even less. To paraphrase the sage, Homer:

"Use your bed for sleeping, nooky and for making the occasional fort."

As resident insomniac and "keeper of the night," I have never found anything that worked. Tried it all. Over the counter, prescription (wooo...forget the commercials you see on tv...well, WE in the US see at least...wacky stuff...Lunesta makes you feel like someone took a dump in your mouth the next day; Ambien to a lesser degree but apparently makes you sleepwalk?! Forget it). Over the counters usually leave me zombie-like the next day. Herbals like melatonin work but depends on your age. Also leaves you with wicked odd dreams! Two days in a row even leaves me with pounding headaches. Valerian is the only thing I found works well and doesn't kill you the next day. You already got the first two obvious ones, watch caffeine (including chocolate) and alcohol.

Vail's suggestion about tea is my current route. "Sleepytime tea" is what you see me post all the time. Seriously, though, I have suffered with it all my life. Just started running myself to sleep. Breaking those ribs sucked for the running bit but I hope to be back on the treadmill ASAP.

Try making some oatmeal, but don't use any of those instant oatmeal packets. Boil some milk, then add plain oatmeal and some cinnamon sticks. Don't trink too much coffee in the morning, either. Two cups of coffee would be good.
