No kidding. One day an exterminator came it to where I work, and well he's a chatty type fellow, but the last place he had been he had captured a Black Widow and put it in a vial of alcohol. That was about an hour before he came to my workplace and when he took the vial out and showed it to me, he shook the vial a bit and the thing still jerked it legs and clenched, so even dead, the nerves kept going and I suppose that little beast would still be dangerous if you just brushed up against in laying in a floor or something. Another bit of trivia for spider lore. The most common place people about a half century ago got bit by a black widow was on the arse. Black widows like cool damp places so it was not uncommon for one to be found in the backyard outhouse. Heh...I like to mix my horror with my humor!
When I first moved here, I went with the old addage to never kill a spider in a new house. I used to trap the suckers to put them outside! Nope, not anymore. Smash the hell out of them now.
Worst story I heard is from a young guy who was sleeping and had one fall from the ceiling onto his face. He is from here, knew what it was and went to the hospital right away. Still, only has partial vision in one now lazy eye because of it. Nasty buggers.
You know it is bad when you let all OTHER spiders live as they kill the brown recluse. Sucks as the BR don't spin webs either. Hunters.....
