Im really not sure what to think of that "Hand of prick" we saw yesterday... I guess what hurts most is that Ghana was the better team, no doubt about it. On the other hand, I dont doubt that Suarez simply accepted the consequences of that action, and went for it, simply because Uruguay had nothing to lose and everything to gain. He sacrificed himself for his team, and willingly gave up playing in the next round. Not many players would do something like that... I just wish he wasnt such an asshole about it.
IDK, Ive never seen anything like it. This was definately a game to remember.
But I still hope that the Dutch eat Uruguay in the semis. |

After reading that I have the uncontrolable urge to throw up now. Hand of God.. who the fuck does he think he is? Of course they cheated their way in.. Since when does deliberate cheating make you a hero? Sickening. Their day will come though. That I believe! After last nights beating of Brazil I may have to revise what I said about Holland not winning the cup. That win will give them a lot of confidence going into their semi. I too hope Holland axe Uruguay. Cheating bastards. Gut wrenching choke for Ghana. Penalties really do suck. I hope to see no more shootouts during the tournament.

Lol... Yeah, Im not too sure myself either - I cant seem to forgive them beating Japan in the round of 16. Then again, Ive forgiven Ghana for beating Serbia, so I can still go either way on this, I guess. | | Becks wrote: | | Yeah that's true, with NZ being underdogs I'm usually rooting for our fellows too. Ok, its Argentina - Germany (go Germany!) and Paraguay - Spain (not sure, leaning more to Paraguay) tomorrow... I hope for good games, but Im not sure that they can top off todays games... | | Becks wrote: | | Ah ok it's coming up then, my replay is still at 1-1. LOL at stupid Brasilian dude. | | _strat_ wrote: | | Sorry, I dont remember that. Although I think it was already 2 - 1 for the Dutch.
It was a really dirty foul at first (which alone warranted a yellow card, imo), and when the ref blew his whistle the Dutch player (already on the ground then) took the ball. Melo first stepped on him (ever been stepped on by someone wearing football boots? hurts like hell), and then tried to take the ball from his hands.
It was a red card straight away, and like they said on our TV, he will probably be banned for at least three international matches. | | Becks wrote: | | Oooh I missed that, how far in to the game was it? | | _strat_ wrote: | | Well, there is some good news anyway... From the afternoon match. Felipe Melo will apparently be banned from playing at least the next three matches for that disgusting foul over a Dutch player. He already got a straight up red card for it, which was a very good call from the referee. |

Well, they are great players, and very good in 1 on 1 challenges... But, IDK, they look a bit undisciplined. A lot of missed passes and misunderstanings among players, I think.

Yeah, me too. Tho honestly, both Japan and Paraguay didnt show much, and I think that it was one of the most boring matches on this cup. Still, it would be nice if Asia would have their representatives in the quarter finals. Holland and Brazil dominant last night. I don't think Holland can win it but you never know, it only takes one goal. Sounds like a dumb thing to say when they've got guys like Kuyt, Robben, Sneider and Van Persie out there but I think in the past they've had better sides than they do now and not been able to crack it and it'll be the same this time. I only saw the first half of Brazil/Chile but from what I saw Brazil handled Chiles good start well and then capitalised clinically when their chances came. Definately a final contender ( as always ).
Looking forward to tonights Spain/Portugal match. Hopefully Torres can get out of this slump he's in and get a few goals.

Yeah it was a brilliant game between the Germans and England, we will definitely be getting up to watch the quarter final between the Argies and Germany. Germnay is my favourite, and like you said, if both teams play to their full potential, it'll be a fantastic game.
Yeah Ronaldo is a bit of a dick, I'm not too fussed on who wins that game, but Spain would be my pick right now. I only saw the first half but they looked to be the better team by far, I guess the final result showed they were. The Bosch/Argies clash in the quarters will be a cracker if both sides play like they did today. Shame they can't meet in a semi or final. Whoever wins that game would probably be favoured to win the tournament. Spain/Portugal should be a cracker too. I'm picking the Spanish and would love for them to win it because I can't stand Christiano Ronaldo. |

Yeah, and after they actualy stoped the game to debate the matter. I guess its really time to get replays for the referees. Yeah, sure, it wont solve all bad calls, but this one would have been.
Of course, that wasnt the end of it. I think that the referee pissed his pants later, and compensated Mexico by allowing them rough play - that faul at the end of the first half was a red card if ever I saw one - but by then the game was already ruined. Mexico was a better opponent at the start, and who knows how it would have gone if the ref simply made the right calls. Im rooting for Mexico tonight. |

I like to root for the underdog, but apart from a few minutes, England could have phoned this one in. Shame. If it's any consolation, US blew it too. Oh, well better luck next time. There's aways another World Cup! We got so time to rework things to compete better. We'll, I chimed in with a little Patriotic fervor when they won so I'll extend congrats in loss.
Best of luck to Ghana!

Yeah Ghanas extra time goal was great. The US guy getting knocked over in the penalty area was a silly thing, but there was no need for the mini tantrum he then had, beating the ground with his fists, LOL! The games tomorrow should be very good! One of the goals of the tournament for Ghana in extra time.
Tonights games I'm picking the Hun and Argentina, pissed off I have to go to work at half time in the Argie game. |

I doubt they got that lesson. Semper PHI! lol . Just think of American sports teams as Jarheads. They are out to win, but the possiblity of them winning is small. Don't stop them. They have done well considering two goals have been disallowed and I'm sure there is more of the same in their future. I have no stake in this, I'm just facinated. lol [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by _strat_ from Friday, June 25, 2010 11:07:29 PM) | | _strat_ wrote: | | Probably. Serves them right. If youre going to play at this level, you should be more professional than that. And if you dont want to shake hands with someone who was better than you in a game, than Id say they should forget about the plane, and take a bus home. Highlight of the World Cup for me so far The French performance. Not the best of starts for them with star player Frank Ribery being investigated by the police for paying for sex with underage prostitutes. The rest of their cup being dominated by infighting, players and coach at loggerheads, refusing to train, dressing room arguments, Anelka being sent home, the French Minister of Sport being dispatched by the President of France to sort the squabbling bitches out, finishing last in their pool, Domenich refusing to shake hands with the South African coach and lastly having their first class flights home down graded to economy by the French Football Association. Brilliant, you couldn't write a better script. | | Becks wrote: | | Yeah, our strikers are slow compared to some of the speedy dudes on other teams. Plus our midfield is old. You can't expect to go to the next round when you only score two goals in three games, one of which was scored by a defender. Our attack was impotent throughout the tournament.
