I thought I remembered Cheap Trick playing last. I was wondering why the gig history(google) had Ac/Dc
playing last in the cities listed. Wheeling wasn't listed. From what little I can actually remember from it, it was
an awesome show. I knew of Cheap Trick so I remember more of their set than Ac/Dc's. It was basically the
setlist from live at Budokon. Rick Nielson playing that five necked guitar still stands out. I remember watching
Angus Young and thinking what the hell is wrong with that guy. Running around the stage, rolling around the stage,
and rocking the f*ck out on stage. (And that outfit?)(LOL) I remember the crowd going crazy when Bon Scott took
Angus out into the crowd on his shoulders while he jammed. Ac/Dc became my favorite band after that concert.
Then I saw Kiss a year later and they became my favorite band. Then I saw Priest two years later.....(end of story!)
Sorry, I was wrong there. It was actually a co-headlining tour. The bands would alternate who closed the show so AC/DC one night, Cheap Trick the next. From what I've read it was an awesome show.

We saw Dommin open for Lacuna Coil last summer. They were really great live! They blew all the other supporting acts right off the stage. We had never heard of them before either, but bought their CD after the show and had them sign it. I love a band that you can understand the lyrics live, even if you have never heard the songs before. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by prisoner from Saturday, March 27, 2010 10:08:53 AM)

That said, I just had to vote for Dommin. My fiancee and I saw them play support to HIM last weekend and they truly rocked everything - incredible band. I'd never even heard of them before we went and then they absolutely blasted my b******s off with quality. Amazing.
Anyone else around? My family and I are taking a siesta - everyone's knackered for some reason. Even the little one (who's usually active and lively from beginning to end of the day) is fast asleep right now...
Interesting to note that they've taken Maiden out of the running- well, I guess it was getting a little unfair ... Sorry, J.D., I'm joking, I'm joking...

AC/DC - Let There Be Rock DVD Release Date Announced
"Let There Be Rock", the AC/DC concert documentary that was filmed December 1979 at the Pavillion De Paris, will receive its long-awaited DVD release in January 2011. Eddie Trunk, the co-host of the VH1 Classic television program "That Metal Show", was interviewed about the band's impact for one of the DVD's bonus features. He writes on his blog, "[The company which is releasing the DVD is] doing some cleanups to the audio and video and making it as high-def as the source will allow." He adds, "I can tell you I have an advance and it looks and sounds great, but they are making it even better!"
According to the All Music Guide, "Let There Be Rock" was released in France a year after it was filmed, though American release was delayed until well after the band had established themselves in the States with new vocalist Brian Johnson and the multi-platinum success of the "Back In Black" album.
In his review of the original "Let There Be Rock" film, Fred Beldin of the All Music Guide writes, "Director Eric Dionysis captures the excitement of the live show with an energetic style and effective close-up shots, though the staged interviews and sub-'The Song Remains The Same' fantasy sequences show the band to be bemused but not convinced by these attempts to add some arty depth to the proceedings. The highlight of the extracurricular segments is Bon Scott, radiating warmth and humility in these last interviews before his untimely death at age 33 from alcohol poisoning."

The deluxe version of British Steel coming out has the remastered album, a Live DVD with bonus stuff on it, and a Live CD which is either the audio from the DVD or quite possibly a 1980 concert......... thats yet to be confirmed.
Thats a lot of extra stuff for a "reissue".
The Iced Earth thing is a cash in, the British Steel thing isnt. 2/3 of it is new stuff.

I agree. When you put out an album just put the fuckin thing out. Re-releases, and bonus tracks and alternate takes an all this other shit is really annoying. The re-release of the re-release of British Steel is a classic example.

Iced Earth: Box Of the Wicked
ICED EARTH's "Box Of The Wicked" will be released in Europe on April 26 (three days earlier in Germany) and May 18 in the U.S. via SPV/Steamhammer Records. The set is limited to 10,000 copies worldwide.
While ICED EARTH's 1998 album "Something Wicked This Way Comes" provided a general overview of the story guitarist/songwriter Jon Schaffer has been conceptualizing for well over a decade, the saga was fully brought to life with the release of the back-to-back conceptual albums "Framing Armageddon" and "The Crucible of Man". The albums provided answers to mysteries the previous releases created, and the timeliness of the story in today's world were guaranteed to keep people thinking and guessing. Schaffer's ability to convey the central themes and events of the story without always revealing exactly "why" characters' decisions are made and "how" events come to pass will keep fans of the saga coming back as future mediums for the "Something Wicked" storyline are revealed.
The whole saga is now included in this high-quality hardcover boxset (height 13 cm, depth 4.5 cm, width 14.5 cm) featuring the original digipak CDs "Framing Armageddon" and "The Crucible Of Man" as well as the original digipaks EPs "Overture Of The Wicked" and "I Walk Among You".
Metal is better than punk, but comparing the new Darkthrone to the new GBH...GBH wins easily.

Extreme: "Take Us Alive" DVD
Reunited Massachusetts hard rockers EXTREME will release the "Take Us Alive" live CD and DVD on April 23 in Europe and May 4 in the U.S. via Frontiers Records.
In 2008, following a 13-year hiatus, EXTREME returned to the stage for its "Take Us Alive" world tour, which encompassed 75 cities and multiple continents in support of the band's new record, "Saudades de Rock".
This recording captures EXTREME at the peak of its game with a renewed enthusiasm led by Gary Cherone's spellbinding stage performance and powerful vocals, Nuno Bettencourt's ferocious guitar, Pat Badger's flawless bass and Kevin Figueiredo's pounding drums and spot-on back-up vocals.
This brilliant performance was recorded on the last night of their tour at the House of Blues on August 8, 2009 in EXTREME's hometown of Boston.
"We wanted to do something really special for our hometown fans that were there for us since the beginning… the club days," states Nuno. "It was the last night of the tour and we couldn't think of a better way to celebrate than by bringing it back to where it all started… Boston."
The concert showcases material from all five EXTREME albums and exhibits the band's broad stylistic abilities. Features include a blistering rendition of the LED ZEPPELIN-minded "Comfortably Dumb", the scorching "Play With Me", the funked-up "Cupid's Dead" as well as the anthemic "Get The Funk Out". Songs like EXTREME's #1 hit "More Than Words" and the Top 5 single "Hole Hearted" highlight the crowds enthusiasm and loyal support their fan base has had for this beloved foursome.
"As much as we enjoy recording, for me, I've always loved playing live for the fans," Cherone says. "We couldn't wait to get out there and play for our fans."
The DVD will contain four unreleased bonus videos from "Saudades de Rock" — "King of the Ladies", "Interface", "Run" and "Ghost". The clips were produced by Nuno Bettencourt.
"This DVD/CD is a culmination of all the years we played together and the chemistry the four of us put out live," explains Bettencourt.
"Take Us Alive" concert track listing:
01. Decadence Dance

I'm sure metal fans will be lining up at the doors of record stores worldwide when this highly anticipated cd is released. First time I've heard of Gary Cherone being described as spellbinding. Maybe he wrote that press release himself.
02. Comfortably Dumb
03. Rest in Peace

Though now I come to think on it, maybe this will give them a much-needed musical change of direction for the new album. Ultra Beatdown was okay, but it was just a watered-down version of Inhuman Rampage. I'm still a little shocked though. I'm sure they can find a good singer, but can they find someone with the same onstage attitude? The best thing about DF gigs (when they're not too drunk to play properly!) is that they have a feel-good, not-very-serious atmosphere, more like a party than a concert. I don't want them to lose that. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by kiamat from Monday, March 08, 2010 11:52:21 PM)

"British Steel" was the sixth studio album by JUDAS PRIEST. Released on April 14, 1980 and produced by Tom Allom, "British Steel" was recorded at Tittenhurst Park in England — a mansion owned at the time by former THE BEATLES member Ringo Starr, and previously owned by John Lennon and Yoko Ono.
"British Steel" has long been considered one of metals all-time classics. It was with this release that PRIEST truly broke through to the masses, with a pair of tracks that have become fixtures on rock radio — the enduring anthems "Breaking The Law" and "Living After Midnight". But like all classic albums, there is not a single weak track detected on "British Steel", as evidenced by such standouts as the perennial concert highlight "Metal Gods", as well as "Rapid Fire", "Grinder", "United" and "The Rage", among others.
In 2009 JUDAS PRIEST performed the "British Steel" album in its entirety for the first time ever as part of their 30th anniversary USA tour. A filmed recording of the show on the August 17, 2009 at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida will be included in both the limited-edition deluxe and deluxe releases. The show was captured in front of a vibrant American audience and in full 5.1 surround and stereo sound. Known for their high-energy and spectacular stage shows the band played the entire "British Steel" album in sequence as well as a number of other well-know tracks from their catalog.
The live concert was mixed in stereo and 5.1 by the original "British Steel" producer Tom Allom. In addition, the DVD will include the bonus content of "The Making Of British Steel", a 30-minute doc featuring the four original band members. This new DVD brings the live PRIEST experience like no other live recording.
"British Steel: Legacy Edition" will come in two formats:
* Limited edition deluxe three-disc to include original album, live DVD and live CD (***TO BE CONFIRMED***)

Agree Beck. I was not happpy with Maiden's last album. I don't like it when bands tour their new album before anyone has had a chance to hear it. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Becks from Friday, March 05, 2010 5:55:25 PM)

Jimmy is right,Maiden are good live but the question is do you really want to go to the show if you don't like the new album? Because with this new album they will play at least 4 songs off it,then they will be playing at least a few songs off each album you don't like already,so that leaves very little room for old tracks, yes of course they will be playing old tracks but how many of them? If the new album sucks,I would recommend NOT going to the show and not supporting them with $money.
I hate the Nostradamus album and I actually bought tickets to see Priest before I heard the Nostradamus album, after I heard the entire Nostradamus album I sold my tickets as I was pissed off and would still do it again.Judas Priest are my favorite band yes,but since they put out a shit album it "ruined it for me" so much to the point of I don't even want to see them!! Fuck em' if they can't put out a killer album. To thoese who think Nostradamus is a "good" LP good for you guys(Guido and others) but for me it fucking "SUCKS" and I don't want to see "that" tour. Same goes with Maiden,if this new album sucks I will NOT be seeing them live.FUCK Em'.
If this next Priest album 'sucks" then I won't be buying the album or seeing the show, fuck em'. They are my favorite band but that doesn't mean they can do no wrong,I'm not a poser fanboy like the idiotic Brian -Maiden-fan-boy- Evans is.If Priest delivers I will support them,if they don't then fuck them.

Maybe the cover will have Eddie in one of those gay Star Trek uniforms with his phaser set to "irritate". [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Vaillant 3.0 from Saturday, March 06, 2010 12:08:42 AM)

I know Vail, its not a "bad picture" its just that its NOT Eddie, just like on the Fear Of The Dark album, that to me ws not "Eddie",and now this picture the least like Eddie out of any Iron Maiden album covers, unless its a decoy and the real Eddie is in the album cover somewhere? I don't know but if what we are seeing is the album cover than it sucks because its not Iron Maiden. And after 30 years "The Final Frontier" is the best title they can come up with? That title alone sucks.I have a huge vibe that this album is going to be terrible, but Brian Evans(the dumb one,not the original one)already loves it even though he hasn't heard it yet, because he has no opinions just fanboyism.Hey Brian.."FUCK YOU".

From Corrosion, Deliverance or In The Arms Of God, from Monster Magnet Dopes To Infinity or Powertrip to begin with. Check out the new metal meltdown show Corrosions song Heavens Not Overflowing is the first song after the first voice break. Thats one of their best I reckon. If you like that you'll love Corrosion.

Judas Priest - obviously lol.
Metallica - apparently they play a lot more old stuff live now which is what I want to hear.
AC/DC - just got ticked off the list lol.
Motorhead
Megadeth
Testament
Saxon
That's just off the top of my head, I'd gladly go see other bands too. Motorhead and Megadeth, like Maiden, I couldn't afford to go see when they were here. So I'm saving my pennies hoping they come back lol. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by jimmyjames from Friday, March 05, 2010 12:57:50 PM)

Hmmm my lame-ometre went off when I saw the title of the new Maiden album. The Final Frontier - eh??? I see Star Trek has already been mentioned LOL, Star Trek concept album perhaps? Hopefully it's a better album than the title promises.
Vail - I'd still go see them live. I missed out when they were here last year (here just after my wedding and trip overseas so we couldn't afford it lol) and wish I could have gone. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by Bazookajoe_666 from Thursday, March 04, 2010 12:10:24 PM)

He doesn't have the charisma of Kirk, the intelligence of Spock or the humanitarianism of Bones. He's dead meat. You can tell he's nervous because he's already got his phaser out. Hostile aliens will sense the fear and pounce. Star Trek was way ahead of it's time, this photo is probably 40 years old and you can see Kirk is texting. A Nostradamus moment from Gene Roddenberry.

If Maiden are playing in your area you should definately go. Even if the album is crap they'll still play a whole bunch of classic songs as well. Iron Maiden is one of the best live acts around. I hope that picture is not "Eddie"? That doesn't even look like Eddie at all,I'm NOT saying that it is but if it is,then thats the worst picture of Eddie I've ever seen! 33. THE ROLLING STONES - Get Yer Ya Ya's Out
34. FREE - Live
35. RUSH - Rush In Rio
36. THUNDER - 20 Years And Out: Hammersmith Apollo July 2009
37. RAINBOW - On Stage
38. "Woodstock" soundtrack
39. DAVID GILMOUR - Live in Gdansk 40. JUDAS PRIEST - Unleashed In The East
There's a lot that can be said about these results - like, "wow, Rush fans are friggin' nuts" and "where's Ted Nugent's Double Live Gonzo?" and "Asia? Really? Asia?!?" - but the real point is that other than David Gilmour's Live in Gdansk, Rush's Rush in Rio, Metallica's S&M and the Thunder disc, all of these albums are from the '70s or '80s. Which makes me question whether the live album has any value in the 21st Century.
There was a time when live albums served a clear purpose. They showed that bands could reproduce their songs live, which was somewhat important in the case of prog-rock groups like Genesis and Yes, with their lavish arrangements and super-deluxe production. Heavy blues and hard rock bands like Free, Humble Pie or Status Quo, whose songs were more bare-bones and basic, didn't really need to prove their case on that score, so their live albums became a showcase for extended jamming and solos. Live albums were also great if you lived in a town that never got bands coming through. New Yorkers and Californians didn't need 'em, but if you lived in rural Nebraska, If You Want Blood You Got It was as close as you were probably gonna get to seeing AC/DC.
But...but...now we have the Internet. And cell phone cameras. And YouTube. Pretty much every gig a band plays is uploaded online, in whole or in part. Some bands, Metallica most notably, record every concert and put them online in CD quality for purchase - not only can you own a Metallica live album, you can own the exact show you were at, if you choose. (Supposedly, Metallica are working with Greg Fidelmann, who engineered Death Magnetic, on an "official" live album. The question is, why? If all their concerts from the World Magnetic Tour are already available, couldn't fans just make their own? Maybe we're expected to pay for the effort the bandmembers and Fidelmann have put in, listening to version after version of "Broken, Beat & Scarred" and "That Was Just Your Life" to pull the best ones.)
Of course, there's also the idea, worth pondering, that there are very few bands big enough to "deserve" a live album these days. Half the point is to hear the roar of a sold-out stadium crowd behind the band, and which bands are still playing stadiums or even arenas? Judas Priest's recent A Touch of Evil - Live and Iron Maiden's Flight 666 were like relics left behind by old gods, bands taking victory laps knowing that nobody's coming up behind them. Similarly, Slipknot's 9.0: Live, released before their somewhat disappointing fourth studio album All Hope is Gone, felt like a combination of contract-filler and something they had to do to prove themselves more than just music for pissed-off kids at the mall, like a live album was something "real" bands did.
What do you think? Is the era of the live album over?

Similarly, Slipknot's 9.0: Live, released before their somewhat disappointing fourth studio album All Hope is Gone, felt like a combination of contract-filler and something they had to do to prove themselves more than just music for pissed-off kids at the mall, like a live album was something "real" bands did.
What do you think? Is the era of the live album over?

Simple question,if there is its all good man,I won't scorn you for it I'm just dying to know if there is one song that you do not like at all,I mean there are a few by Judas Priest and Saxon that I don't like there must be at least one if not a few that you really don't like,if you like all songs equally that just blows my mind dude this is where I get the "fanboy" from but hey,but more power to ya your right, you have a right to like what you like without an asshole like me shutting you down lol! Nope, while a couple of explosions and Eddie are nice and all, I am still there for the music alone. THAT is where they have failed since the 80s, IMO.

Iron Maiden Completes Recording New Album
British heavy metal legends IRON MAIDEN have completed the recording process for their new album at Compass Point Studios in Nassau, Bahamas with producer Kevin Shirley. According to a posting on Kevin's official web site, "There's still work to do, but the band portion is complete and in the can, so to speak."
Shirley also worked on the last three MAIDEN albums — 2000's "Brave New World", 2003's "Dance of Death" and 2006's "A Matter of Life and Death".
The next IRON MAIDEN album will be the band's fifteenth studio record, and they face a challenge to follow up "A Matter of Life and Death", which was received well critically and saw the group play the whole album on tour.
Speaking at last year's premiere of the band's documentary film "Iron Maiden: Flight 666", guitarist Adrian Smith stated, "There's always a bit of pressure to follow up the last album, in a way it's good because it motivates you.
"We never get complacent; we always try our best for our own sake as much as anything else. As far as pressure for another album, we just do what we do — we've been doing it long enough now, we know what we're doing. [laughs]"
IRON MAIDEN guitarist Janick Gers revealed to BBC News in November that the band was on its way "to Paris for three weeks to work on some new stuff." He added, "The most important thing for a band is to create new music, otherwise you're not valid — you become a parody."
IRON MAIDEN will headline this year's edition of the U.K.'s Sonisphere festival, which will be held Saturday, July 31, 2010 and Sunday, August 1, 2010 at Knebworth.

I think the skinflint bastards charge people to chat on their noticeboard too. I think it's 10 pounds a year or something. That's why I'm not a member. The Maiden / Priest debate is a weird one because when you listen to them they both do totally different things. They have a lot in common such as great vocalists who are very different i think, awesome musicianship, wicked songs, same era give or take, both english etc but musically they do vastly different stuff. eg Number of the Beast and SFV came out the same year, they are nothing alike. DOTF and Powerslave again like black and white. I think both bands are cool but don't think much of their recent stuff. Would go to see either live.

They just step all over each other with Murray usually taking the lead. I didn't catch the "Somewhere" tour live, but I have about 10 bootlegs and can say that I would only go for nostalgia's sake. Nothing more. They do not inspire me as they did in the past. Their last tour and album was so miserable that Dickenson even admits it in a couple of interviews I have heard. I think they didn't have anywhere else to GO except back "Somewhere in Time" trying to recapture their old fan-base.

LOL! Well fanboys are just irritating, but I would want to take up your idea but instead of fanboys replace them with metal bands and fans that don't support true metal aesthetics because they are contributing to the downfall of heavy metal so with that I could take all these worthless losers and torture them Jimmy Just like this album cover 1987 Holocausto!!!! I am no Maiden-hater either. Quite the contrary, in fact, and my pic here should be proof enough. However, they lost it. While a nice thought, three guitarists is too Spinal Tap for me to like.

While I mentioned why I don't care for Maiden much anymore, I can elaborate as to why....they are FAR too "jumpy" in rhythm for me now. Priest probably couldn't pull off playing all of Nostradamus live (although I think it could work to an extent, it's just too long lol) - but they did pull it off exceptionally (from accounts I have heard) with British Steel. Yes I know it's a much shorter album, but it's a piece of heavy metal history, and I would love to see it played live. To be fair to Edward the Great, it actually goes all the way up to 2003. Number of the Beast happened to be the first song I played from it because, well I thought it was a cool song name. I play Brave New World and AMOLAD all the time, I used to diss Dance of Death as overrated but I've come around to it, likewise a fair amount of the 90s stuff grew on me after several playings and after hearing recordings of Bruce singing Blaze-era stuff.
I know Maiden's 80s stuff has been in the media all the time, what with the Somewhere Back in Time tour. But remember that in the tour before that they played the new album in its entirety, a tour I seriously regret not going to, as everyone I know who did go said it was fantastic, and all the songs worked brilliantly live. I think both of us would agree that Priest couldn't pull that off with Nostradamus.
Anyhow, I don't wish to sound bolshy in any way- I just felt compelled to defend a band I love very much.

Just like kiamat mentioned....Edward The Great wich is a best of album, and The Number Of The Beast...nobody ever mentions a horrible album like 1990 No Prayer For The Dying or the terrible awful 1992 Fear Of The Dark, the shit albums X Factor,Virtual Eleven or they never even mention Brave New World,Dance Of Death or A Matter Of Life And Death...
When Maiden is mentioned its always something from the 80's,again Priest hasn't set the world on fire either but like I said they have Painkiller,Jugulator and Angel Of Retribution to wield in front of Maiden fans while Maiden doesn't have any records as strong as those 3 albums from Judas Priest since 1988's Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son album.I realize this is just all opinions but I hear 95% of people talk about Angel Of Retribution but when it comes to Maiden they talk about the 1980's for some reason? Hummmm

In fact, (and I totally expect people to disagree, and get angry with me over this, its fine) if I had to choose which I like more, Priest or Maiden, I would always come down on the sice of Maiden. I love Priest, I think they are incredible. But Maiden have always totally blown me away, from the moment I brought home 'Edward the Great' and put Number of the Beast on full blast.

Hey Kiamat, I agree with what you are saying 100% and I can't wait for the new cd. Except for the Blaze stuff, all Maiden is outstanding! Some people just can't see how good this band really is! Whats your favorite Maiden cd? [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by kiamat from Tuesday, February 16, 2010 2:02:29 PM)

Were I to think that, I would be following them and not Priest.
I am no Maiden-hater either. Quite the contrary, in fact, and my pic here should be proof enough. However, they lost it. While a nice thought, three guitarists is too Spinal Tap for me to like.
Nope, while a couple of explosions and Eddie are nice and all, I am still there for the music alone. THAT is where they have failed since the 80s, IMO. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by jimmyjames from Tuesday, February 16, 2010 12:08:42 PM)

Thats what I'm saying too Becks, with this next record this gives Priest the chance to prove to Maiden fans that they are kings.Like in 1990 they put out Painkiller while Maiden put out No Prayer For The Dying and then Fear Of The Dark...both those albums can't even to begin to compare to Painkiller...back then Maiden fans were sitting on 2 shit albums while Priest fans were cellebrating Painkiller....same with 2005 with Angel Of Retribution....we got a classic LP like Screaming For Vengeance or Defenders Of The Faith while Maiden fans got 2003's "Dance Of Death" wich is to me the utterly most shit album they have ever done with Bruce,so again Judas Priest fans come out on top.Now with the Nostradamus 2008....Maiden came out on top because thier 2006 album 'AMOLAD" is better than Nostradamus in my opinion, but I recon this next album from Priest will soar them into the sky over Iron Maiden again.
But yeah, every time someone raves about Iron Maiden its 95% of the time about an 80's album. These Maiden "fan-boys" can laugh at Saxon all they want but the truth is that Saxon have been 100% more consistant the last 15 years than Iron Maiden have by far and they don't get any credit for tha and thier excellent heavy metal song writting skills, they don't have 'EDDIE" to sell records so they are swept under the carpet and forgotton about, thats fine because all of Saxon's true fans have mega albums that are of excellent quality to listen too,Saxon are a treasure chest of Diamonds waiting to be found by the heavy metal listener who's bored of bands that put out average material like Iron Maiden. I agree JD, whenever most people talk about Maiden, they bring up their albums from the 80s to show how awesome they are, whereas with Priest you have stuff from the 70s, 80s and more recent releases like the 3 albums you mention. Maiden really needs to go back to their 'roots' to give fans a reason to continue to think they are awesome, lol. Fans like me anyways. Angel Of Retribution blows any recent Maiden out of the water I believe. I also believe Priest can certainly bring out an album next which will kick Maidens butt, LOL! But who knows in the world of heavy metal.
