I thought I remembered Cheap Trick playing last. I was wondering why the gig history(google) had Ac/Dc
playing last in the cities listed. Wheeling wasn't listed. From what little I can actually remember from it, it was
an awesome show. I knew of Cheap Trick so I remember more of their set than Ac/Dc's. It was basically the
setlist from live at Budokon. Rick Nielson playing that five necked guitar still stands out. I remember watching
Angus Young and thinking what the hell is wrong with that guy. Running around the stage, rolling around the stage,
and rocking the f*ck out on stage. (And that outfit?)(LOL) I remember the crowd going crazy when Bon Scott took
Angus out into the crowd on his shoulders while he jammed. Ac/Dc became my favorite band after that concert.

We saw Dommin open for Lacuna Coil last summer. They were really great live! They blew all the other supporting acts right off the stage. We had never heard of them before either, but bought their CD after the show and had them sign it. Thats a lot of extra stuff for a "reissue".
The Iced Earth thing is a cash in, the British Steel thing isnt. 2/3 of it is new stuff.

Though now I come to think on it, maybe this will give them a much-needed musical change of direction for the new album. Ultra Beatdown was okay, but it was just a watered-down version of Inhuman Rampage. I'm still a little shocked though. I'm sure they can find a good singer, but can they find someone with the same onstage attitude? The best thing about DF gigs (when they're not too drunk to play properly!) is that they have a feel-good, not-very-serious atmosphere, more like a party than a concert. Check out the new metal meltdown show Corrosions song Heavens Not Overflowing is the first song after the first voice break. Thats one of their best I reckon. If you like that you'll love Corrosion.

Jimmy is right,Maiden are good live but the question is do you really want to go to the show if you don't like the new album? Because with this new album they will play at least 4 songs off it,then they will be playing at least a few songs off each album you don't like already,so that leaves very little room for old tracks,yes of course they will be playing old tracks but how many of them? If the new album sucks,I would recommend NOT going to the show and not supporting them with $money.

If Maiden are playing in your area you should definately go. Even if the album is crap they'll still play a whole bunch of classic songs as well. Iron Maiden is one of the best live acts around. Asia?!?" - but the real point is that other than David Gilmour's Live in Gdansk, Rush's Rush in Rio, Metallica's S&M and the Thunder disc, all of these albums are from the '70s or '80s. Which makes me question whether the live album has any value in the 21st Century.

They showed that bands could reproduce their songs live, which was somewhat important in the case of prog-rock groups like Genesis and Yes, with their lavish arrangements and super-deluxe production. Heavy blues and hard rock bands like Free, Humble Pie or Status Quo, whose songs were more bare-bones and basic, didn't really need to prove their case on that score, so their live albums became a showcase for extended jamming and solos. Live albums were also great if you lived in a town that never got bands coming through. New Yorkers and Californians didn't need 'em, but if you lived in rural Nebraska, If You Want Blood You Got It was as close as you were probably gonna get to seeing AC/DC.
But...but...now we have the Internet. And cell phone cameras. And YouTube. Pretty much every gig a band plays is uploaded online, in whole or in part. Some bands, Metallica most notably, record every concert and put them online in CD quality for purchase - not only can you own a Metallica live album, you can own the exact show you were at, if you choose. (Supposedly, Metallica are working with Greg Fidelmann, who engineered Death Magnetic, on an "official" live album. The question is, why? If all their concerts from the World Magnetic Tour are already available, couldn't fans just make their own? Maybe we're expected to pay for the effort the bandmembers and Fidelmann have put in, listening to version after version of "Broken, Beat & Scarred" and "That Was Just Your Life" to pull the best ones.)
Of course, there's also the idea, worth pondering, that there are very few bands big enough to "deserve" a live album these days. Half the point is to hear the roar of a sold-out stadium crowd behind the band, and which bands are still playing stadiums or even arenas? Judas Priest's recent A Touch of Evil - Live and Iron Maiden's Flight 666 were like relics left behind by old gods, bands taking victory laps knowing that nobody's coming up behind them. Similarly, Slipknot's 9.0: Live, released before their somewhat disappointing fourth studio album All Hope is Gone, felt like a combination of contract-filler and something they had to do to prove themselves more than just music for pissed-off kids at the mall, like a live album was something "real" bands did.

It's a bill that fans of horror and hard rock could only dream of until now: For the first time ever, the "gruesome twosome" — ALICE COOPER and ROB ZOMBIE — will play an exclusive limited run of North American tour dates beginning April 26 at the MTS Center in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
Rob Zombie commented, "The dream or nightmare comes true! Me and The Coop have been talking about touring together for about 15 years and finally the moment is here. This will be without a doubt a rock 'n' roll spooktacular for all the cool ghouls."

I am no Maiden-hater either. Quite the contrary, in fact, and my pic here should be proof enough. However, they lost it. While a nice thought, three guitarists is too Spinal Tap for me to like. They just step all over each other with Murray usually taking the lead. I didn't catch the "Somewhere" tour live, but I have about 10 bootlegs and can say that I would only go for nostalgia's sake. Nothing more. They do not inspire me as they did in the past. Their last tour and album was so miserable that Dickenson even admits it in a couple of interviews I have heard. I think they didn't have anywhere else to GO except back "Somewhere in Time" trying to recapture their old fan-base.
Nope, while a couple of explosions and Eddie are nice and all, I am still there for the music alone. THAT is where they have failed since the 80s, IMO.

IRON MAIDEN will headline this year's edition of the U.K.'s Sonisphere festival, which will be held Saturday, July 31, 2010 and Sunday, August 1, 2010 at Knebworth.

I am no Maiden-hater either. Quite the contrary, in fact, and my pic here should be proof enough. However, they lost it. While a nice thought, three guitarists is too Spinal Tap for me to like. They just step all over each other with Murray usually taking the lead. I didn't catch the "Somewhere" tour live, but I have about 10 bootlegs and can say that I would only go for nostalgia's sake. Nothing more. They do not inspire me as they did in the past. Their last tour and album was so miserable that Dickenson even admits it in a couple of interviews I have heard. I think they didn't have anywhere else to GO except back "Somewhere in Time" trying to recapture their old fan-base.
Nope, while a couple of explosions and Eddie are nice and all, I am still there for the music alone. THAT is where they have failed since the 80s, IMO.

Sure, I can find a song here and there that I do like, I can find a bunch out of Nostra. As a complete album, I can say without hesitation that I still love it. Perhaps the "fanboy" in me talking, but I run to it all the time. Were I to try that with Maiden, I'd trip over my own feet!

I disagree about Nostra as most know. I love it. I have been to dozens of Priest shows against one or two Maiden shows. Were you to see my house, you'd find an interesting mix. TONS of Priest stuff (hell, five guitars!) mixed in with a handful of 80s Maiden stuff. Of course, I have things from other bands but I have a serious Priest addiction.
While I mentioned why I don't care for Maiden much anymore, I can elaborate as to why....they are FAR too "jumpy" in rhythm for me now. Each song seems like ten minutes long with so many changes that I just can't seem to get a grip on it. Of course, I refer to the new material. Sure, I can find a song here and there that I do like, I can find a bunch out of Nostra. As a complete album, I can say without hesitation that I still love it. Perhaps the "fanboy" in me talking, but I run to it all the time. Were I to try that with Maiden, I'd trip over my own feet!

Iron Maiden Completes Recording New Album
British heavy metal legends IRON MAIDEN have completed the recording process for their new album at Compass Point Studios in Nassau, Bahamas with producer Kevin Shirley. According to a posting on Kevin's official web site, "There's still work to do, but the band portion is complete and in the can, so to speak."
Shirley also worked on the last three MAIDEN albums — 2000's "Brave New World", 2003's "Dance of Death" and 2006's "A Matter of Life and Death".

"We never get complacent; we always try our best for our own sake as much as anything else. As far as pressure for another album, we just do what we do — we've been doing it long enough now, we know what we're doing. [laughs]"

I disagree about Nostra as most know. I love it. I have been to dozens of Priest shows against one or two Maiden shows. Were you to see my house, you'd find an interesting mix. TONS of Priest stuff (hell, five guitars!) mixed in with a handful of 80s Maiden stuff. Of course, I have things from other bands but I have a serious Priest addiction.
While I mentioned why I don't care for Maiden much anymore, I can elaborate as to why....they are FAR too "jumpy" in rhythm for me now. Each song seems like ten minutes long with so many changes that I just can't seem to get a grip on it. Of course, I refer to the new material. Sure, I can find a song here and there that I do like, I can find a bunch out of Nostra. As a complete album, I can say without hesitation that I still love it. Perhaps the "fanboy" in me talking, but I run to it all the time. Were I to try that with Maiden, I'd trip over my own feet!

Nothing more. They do not inspire me as they did in the past. Their last tour and album was so miserable that Dickenson even admits it in a couple of interviews I have heard. Priest probably couldn't pull off playing all of Nostradamus live (although I think it could work to an extent, it's just too long lol) - but they did pull it off exceptionally (from accounts I have heard) with British Steel. Yes I know it's a much shorter album, but it's a piece of heavy metal history, and I would love to see it played live. Anyhow, I don't wish to sound bolshy in any way- I just felt compelled to defend a band I love very much.

When Maiden is mentioned its always something from the 80's,again Priest hasn't set the world on fire either but like I said they have Painkiller,Jugulator and Angel Of Retribution to wield in front of Maiden fans while Maiden doesn't have any records as strong as those 3 albums from Judas Priest since 1988's Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son album.I realize this is just all opinions but I hear 95% of people talk about Angel Of Retribution but when it comes to Maiden they talk about the 1980's for some reason? Hummmm

British heavy metal legends IRON MAIDEN have completed the recording process for their new album at Compass Point Studios in Nassau, Bahamas with producer Kevin Shirley. According to a posting on Kevin's official web site, "There's still work to do, but the band portion is complete and in the can, so to speak."
Shirley also worked on the last three MAIDEN albums — 2000's "Brave New World", 2003's "Dance of Death" and 2006's "A Matter of Life and Death".
The next IRON MAIDEN album will be the band's fifteenth studio record, and they face a challenge to follow up "A Matter of Life and Death", which was received well critically and saw the group play the whole album on tour.
Speaking at last year's premiere of the band's documentary film "Iron Maiden: Flight 666", guitarist Adrian Smith stated, "There's always a bit of pressure to follow up the last album, in a way it's good because it motivates you.
"We never get complacent; we always try our best for our own sake as much as anything else. As far as pressure for another album, we just do what we do — we've been doing it long enough now, we know what we're doing. [laughs]"
IRON MAIDEN guitarist Janick Gers revealed to BBC News in November that the band was on its way "to Paris for three weeks to work on some new stuff." He added, "The most important thing for a band is to create new music, otherwise you're not valid — you become a parody."
IRON MAIDEN will headline this year's edition of the U.K.'s Sonisphere festival, which will be held Saturday, July 31, 2010 and Sunday, August 1, 2010 at Knebworth.

Thats what I'm saying too Becks,with this next record this gives Priest the chance to prove to Maiden fans that they are kings.Like in 1990 they put out Painkiller while Maiden put out No Prayer For The Dying and then Fear Of The Dark...both those albums can't even to begin to compare to Painkiller...back then Maiden fans were sitting on 2 shit albums while Priest fans were cellebrating Painkiller....same with 2005 with Angel Of Retribution....we got a classic LP like Screaming For Vengeance or Defenders Of The Faith while Maiden fans got 2003's "Dance Of Death" wich is to me the utterly most shit album they have ever done with Bruce,so again Judas Priest fans come out on top.Now with the Nostradamus 2008....Maiden came out on top because thier 2006 album 'AMOLAD" is better than Nostradamus in my opinion,but I recon this next album from Priest will soar them into the sky over Iron Maiden again.
But yeah,every time someone raves about Iron Maiden its 95% of the time about an 80's album. These Maiden "fan-boys" can laugh at Saxon all they want but the truth is that Saxon have been 100% more consistant the last 15 years than Iron Maiden have by far and they don't get any credit for tha and thier excellent heavy metal song writting skills,they don't have 'EDDIE" to sell records so they are swept under the carpet and forgotton about,thats fine because all of Saxon's true fans have mega albums that are of excellent quality to listen too,Saxon are a treasure chest of Diamonds waiting to be found by the heavy metal listener who's bored of bands that put out average material like Iron Maiden. Just like kiamat mentioned....Edward The Great wich is a best of album,and The Number Of The Beast...nobody ever mentions a horrible album like 1990 No Prayer For The Dying or the terrible awful 1992 Fear Of The Dark,the shit albums X Factor,Virtual Eleven or they never even mention Brave New World,Dance Of Death or A Matter Of Life And Death...
When Maiden is mentioned its always something from the 80's,again Priest hasn't set the world on fire either but like I said they have Painkiller,Jugulator and Angel Of Retribution to wield in front of Maiden fans while Maiden doesn't have any records as strong as those 3 albums from Judas Priest since 1988's Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son album.I realize this is just all opinions but I hear 95% of people talk about Angel Of Retribution but when it comes to Maiden they talk about the 1980's for some reason? Hummmm

Yup, I disagree completely. I have most of Maiden albums and most of the later ones are boring as all get-out. I have seen both live (many times) and, while Maiden of old was fine live and I even got on stage with them, I was almost bored to tears just like I am with most of their later albums.

In fact, (and I totally expect people to disagree, and get angry with me over this, its fine) if I had to choose which I like more, Priest or Maiden, I would always come down on the sice of Maiden. I love Priest, I think they are incredible. But Maiden have always totally blown me away, from the moment I brought home 'Edward the Great' and put Number of the Beast on full blast.
