Well I know that song at least haha! And I know the Alice in Wonderland references too, yay lol. Reminds me of something that had me rather bemused - we were watching the Australian version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, and the question was to do with Alice in Wonderland. The young contestant (early 20s?) said 'oh I haven't seen that movie!'. He had no idea it was actually a book first.

Same problem with St. Clair. VERY shallow. I have seen 6 foot swells pick up in a second. At on point, we were in Canada with a group from the Power Squadron. We were all trying to cross in a line for safety reasons but, as you say, when you are in the middle and can't see land in any direction, well, we were a bit on the nervous side. Whole group turned around the instant that we heard a 60+ft boat capsized and went under right in front of us. People at the lead / Coast Guard apparently saved the people but THAT luxury ship was a goner!
Even the next day was rough. While we plowed straight across (took 5-6 HOURS, easily), even with three-four ft rollers it ws a nasty trip home from "Wheels." Felt sorry for the smaller vessels who were forced to stick close to land and try to cross at a more narrow point closer to the Detroit river. Took them a whole day. Glad to say there were no casualties in terms of human life that I recall but if you would have seen the boat that went under. MONSTER!
Again, not even close to being a great lake and St. Clair is absolutely huge.

Yes, all the manufacturing factories, 2 Nuclear Power Plants along the lake front has polluted the lake. I used to swim in it when I was a kid but I don't let my own children swim in it now. Lake Erie is shallow which makes it dangerous, winds can kick up and produce 4 to 6 foot swells in seconds. It's pretty scary being 6 miles out from shore where you can't see any land and have a storm come.

There is a good global. Erie highlighted. Lake St. Clair in the middle with Huron to the north of St. Clair. The "glove" of Michigan dead center with Canada wrapping down around to the south of MI.
Too bad Erie is polluted as all hell.

Nice shots. Lake St. Clair is a BIG ass lake and pales in comparison with Erie in both depth and size.
Cool when you see the dredging of the lake as St. Clair is really shallow. Dumps right into Erie. QUICK current both there and, especially, when it narrows into the Detroit River.
St. Clair is mid-left for those who don't know. Erie is the big sucker at the bottom and the little sliver of water that connects the two is about a mile across connecting Windsor and Detroit.

We celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary this weekend. Went to "Put In Bay"(island) on Lake Erie. I never realized Ohio had such a gem. The lake is like being on the ocean and the island was awesome. Some refer to it as the "Keys" of the North. It definitely had the feel of a little sea town. Tons of Entertainment and plenty to see and do. Major mode of transportation was golf carts. It was a little freaky at first sharing the road with cars while driving a golfcart but once you got used to it it was fun as hell. Kind of weird though with about 75% of traffic being golf carts. I have more to tell and maybe some pics to post but I don't want this to be too long so I'll go through my pics (and thoughts)(lol) and share a little more. It was probably two of the most fun days I've had.

Nice, congrats, Bud. 20 years married is something but dare I ask how long you two have been together? Kinda like the Tim Robbins / Susan Sarandon thing, the TIME is the tell (unless you are overly religious). I've been to Put-in-Bay and, for those who have never been, it is beautiful. Been in a few sail-races around the island. TOUGH current. Most don't ever think that a lake has tides but they are mistaken. Beautiful spot.
As for the Ozzy comments, I have caught his good and bad. As I have said, saw his "goodbye" tour when he had babes (real babies!!) in arms. Fox Theater, Detroit. Last tour? Fantastic. Amazed (especially after having seen the TV series) that he could even walk, much less sing. He was great.
Hail to the Great and Powerful Oz; hail to long-lasting relationships.

Yea the Beer Barrel is just down the street from the Round House. The Round House makes awesome BBQ Chicken. The Beer Barrel has a bar that zig zags through one side of the bar. They also have Live Entertainment there. You can Island hop by Helicopter and one of the Islands has a winery if you like. You are right it's pretty cool, especially if you have your own boat and can come and go as you please. I don't !

the concert was a success due to the people i go with and meet at them , like minded people sharing their love of music, Sedgie 1 of the concert regulars sang every song at the top of his lungs , Sabbath is his favourite band , and too be involved in that guys pure joy of seeing his idols , well it doesnt get much better than that! i got a text from the Ozzy tribute band that i had the saturday before to come meet them for beers and to hang out , all in all a great deal of fun had by all, we all knew going in Ozzy is a flight risk!!! lol |

I found Joe's so I'm not sure how I missed the Beer Barrel. Did see the Roundhouse but didn't go in. I rarely drink. I had some mixed drinks at the Boardwalk and a couple of beers at Joe's. Most everything else was checking stuff out. I have to get back to this place it was too cool.

Sorry to hear Ozzy was in such terrible form for your show. We saw them in Detroit on August 6th and he was pretty good, for Ozzy. I don't remember him taking any breaks during our show. He must be getting worse. But you are right, Tony is absolutely incredible!! Geezer is a beast too - I LOVE watching him play as well. I am glad we saw them when we did, they ROCKED!!
