Good man!

It was really odd. The internet video feed I finally got was faster than the call I was getting on XM! Still never saw that last goal. Some well-wisher had the audacity of calling me at that specific moment. Hope to catch it on TV or the internet today.

After one of the best playoff games I've seen in awhile, and outstanding games by both Osgood and Huet, I must congratulate Guido and his Red Wings for their much deserved series win last night...I can sleep much better knowing the Hawks ended their season with a game like last night than if game 4 would have been their last...now the contdown begins for the fall...you know what they say about payback...and YES, I'll be rooting for the Wings in the Finals!!!

Okay Hellrider I found this..

The funeral for former NHL forward Peter Zezel will be held Friday in Mississauga, Ont.

Zezel, a Toronto native, passed away Tuesday following a 10-year struggle with hemolytic anemia, a rare blood disease.

He was 44.

Zezel's family has requested that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the James Birrell Fund at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.

then I looked it up..

Hemolytic anemia is anemia due to hemolysis, the abnormal breakdown of red blood cells (RBCs) either in the blood vessels (intravascular hemolysis) or elsewhere in the body (extravascular). It has numerous possible causes, ranging from relatively harmless to life-threatening. The general classification of hemolytic anemia is either acquired or inherited. Treatment depends on the cause and nature of the breakdown.

In a healthy person, a red blood cell survives 90 to 120 days (on average) in the circulation, so about 1% of human red blood cells break down each day. The spleen (part of the reticulo-endothelial system) is the main organ which removes old and damaged RBCs from the circulation. In healthy individuals, the break down and removal of RBCs from the circulation is matched by the production of new RBCs in the bone marrow.

In conditions where the rate of RBC breakdown is increased, the body initially compensates by producing more RBCs; however, breakdown of RBCs can exceed the rate that the body can make RBCs, and so anemia can develop. Bilirubin, a breakdown product of hemoglobin, can accumulate in the blood causing jaundice, and be excreted in the urine causing the urine to become a dark brown colour.

How about those Penguins...and Malkin...wow...no matter who wins Hawks/Wings, they're scary
[ron h] Saturday, May 23, 2009 7:49:41 AM
Oh man...if I had seen that I probably would have thrown the remote through the TV screen...not that I get emotional about my teams or anything  but you can't lose composure like that against a great team like the Wings and expect to win...we dodged a bullet last night, now we need to lick or wounds today and dust ourselves off as tomorrow isn't gonna be any easier...I must tip my hat to Huet as he hasn't played in over six weeks yet played a solid third period...if I remember right, the Wings only had six shots on goal in the third, so cudos to the 'D' for stepping up to help out...

...Guido...where you at man...hope all is well with you

After seeing the replay um-teen times I have to agree...it was a viscious hit, but it was a legal hit (IMO)...Havlat has to be aware of who is around him, he didn't even have control of the puck yet...I think the call came because, like you said, the hit knocked him out ...I don't think that any further action is needed, hell, he was ejected out of the game, I think that's more than enough already...what I hadn't realized was the Wings scored all three of their goals with only 5:22 left in the 2nd...they really are a good team!!!

KRONWALL WAS EJECTED FOR HIS HIT ON HAVLAT....NOW I'M NOT A WINGS FAN,BUT I'LL TRY TO BE FAIR ON THIS...THE REFS QUITE FRANKLY BLEW THIS ONE,YES,IT WAS A HARD HIT BUT QUITE LEGAL IN MY OPINION,FROM WHAT I'VE SEEN ON REPLAYS...THE CALL WAS INTERFERENCE WITH A FIVE MINUTE GAME MISCONDUCT ATTACHED!...CAN'T REMEMBER THE LAST TIME I SAW THAT CALLED...HAWKS DIDN'T SCORE HOWEVER IN THE FIVE MINUTES,I THOUGHT THAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN A TURNING POINT FOR THE WINGS ...THERE WAS NO INITIAL CALL AT THE TIME IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE HIT,THE FACT THAT HAVLAT WAS OUT OF IT,I BELIEVE CHANGED THE REFS MIND,BUT BELIEVE ME,THIS IS GONNA BE ADDRESSED BY BABCOCK I'M SURE,NOT TO MENTION JUST ABOUT EVERYONE ELSE,I'D BE VERY SURPRISED IF ANY FURTHER PUNITIVE MEASURES ARE TAKEN...BUT YA' NEVER KNOW...SHOULD BE A GOOD ONE SUNDAY!...

Wow...unfortunately I missed the game until about 13 min. left in the 3rd...not sure why a player was ejected and was very suprised Huet was in the net...but more importantly is that they won the biggest game of their season...we'll have to see tomorrow what the status of Havlat is, which is what makes winning this game all the more impressive being w/o him...

THE BLACKHAWKSHAWKS  HAVE PLAYED FINE IN BOTH GAMES,THEY DIDN'T RELINQUISH THE LEAD IN GAME ONE UNTIL ABOUT HALFWAY THROUGH THE THIRD I BELIEVE,AND IN GAME TWO IT WAS A ONE SHOT VICTORY FOR EITHER TEAM IN O.T.,THE PROBLEM IN MY OPINION HAS BEEN COSTLY TURNOVERS FOR CHICAGO,NONE MORE COSTLY THAN THE ONE IN OVERTIME THE OTHER NIGHT,THEY CAN BEAT THE WINGS,THE THING IS WITH A TEAM WITH THAT KIND OF VETERAN PRESENCE,YOU JUST CAN'T MAKE A MISTAKE,OR NEXT THING YOU KNOW IT'S IN YOUR NET...YES,I WOULD AGREE THE TERM 'MUST WIN' CERTAINLY APPLIES HERE TONIGHT FOR THE HAWKS...

[ron h] Friday, May 22, 2009 5:35:51 PM
Hey there Soy, glad to hear from ya!!  This is an absolute must win for the Hawks to have any chance...no way can they roll off 4 straight...they have to win their home games, where I think they have an advantage over most (even w/Wings)...and if Datsyk is shelved for the night (which the Wings really have the luxuary of doing) this will be their best opportunity of the series so far to pick up a win, then we'll see about Sunday...I thought the Hawks really played well in game 2, but they're gonna have to step it up a little...

I don't how well you know Keenan, but I remember him coaching the Hawks and I didn't really care for him...to me he came off as arrogant and treated his players as if they were 'beneath' him...I was really glad when he left!!!
