perhaps the neighbours have no taste....lord knows mine go thro hell with all the hardware/amps etc....no complaints yet
[Becks] Tuesday, June 30, 2009 5:04:17 AM
Timing is my thing I always need to work on too! An earpiece metronome sounds cool. I admit when it comes to drumming hardware I am a novice, I just want a standard kit to start with and I'll take it from there haha. With timing, whenever I am playing a wee solo and a fill comes up, I almost get over excited and go through it a tiny bit too fast LOL! I'm finding it so hard to find any good notation too, what I am going to do is by music sheets and try to write some Priest notation myself by ear, and by using Rock Band (as strange as that sounds). On the expert level every drum note is used so that may help. Figuring out what time signature songs are may stuff me up though LOL! I can't wait for you to get an acoustic kit. I am very happy with the Pearl Vision series. It is excellent value for money although there are so many good kits out there. Noooo! You cannot banish it to the garage when it comes! What's wrong with the living room floor? lol j/k. If you very worried about upsetting neighbours/spouses with the volume you can get those rings that go on the drums to mute them? like studio rings? Or you can get those jazz type drum sticks the ones that have brushes on the ends. You just put a hair band around the brushes so you can still hit the drums and it sort of mutes the sound enough to keep the neigbourhood off your back lol. I am very fortunate that my neighbours are either very tolerant, very deaf or I just can't hear them when they bang on the door to complain.

Heya Joe! Sounds like there's some bizarre albums at your house, LOL! How's your drumming coming along? Mine is ok, and I think I have worn Craig down enough that he will let me buy a normal drum kit if I get this job I'm waiting to hear about, YAY! As long as it lives in the garage is the only condition I think, LOL! Electronic is good, but I want something to bash on properly!

Hi there Kiamat...sounds like you a bit of a rough go at it growing up. I went to grade school with a kid who had epilepsy and there were a number of things he wasn't able to do because of the seizures. I'm glad to see you have a bit of sense of humor!!! When was the last time you rode a bike?? Maybe you can test the waters on some backroads before heading out into the public strrets, just to see where your at...comfort level wise. Good luck to you though, it's great exercise and it sure beats walking!! When arm get's better, give it a go and let me know how you're doing!! Good luck to ya!! I'm reaching out to all the fans out there that live in or near NH. Aug. 23rd date in Gilford NH does not seem to selling very good. Couple possible reasons is (1) this site has not posted links to purchase tickets and (2) tickets are sold directly from the venue and not through Ticketmaster or LiveNation. Here is the link http://www.meadowbrook.net/ Please let's help out of metal gods and get tickets or spread the word to family and friends who may be in the area. This is a really nice venue and I'm sure everyone would enjoy it!

Monday, Monday
So good to me.. NOT!!
lol
Ok so I'm starting to take these 'mishaps' a wee bit personally now. On a good note, it's not thursday so maybe the 'thursday curse' has passed but last night our washing machine decided to stop working. So with a load full of wet washing we needed to manually drain the machine, hand rinse and do the last bit of washing by hand. Zakk had to go to school with no socks on today because the boy seems to enjoy changing socks multiple times during the day. He goes through a minimum of two pairs and he's a toddler? At least he has good foot hygiene lol.
On a very proud note.. my little angel was finally confident enough to lose the side wheels on his bicycle yesterday. He was so excited that he could ride without falling. He just needs to perfect stopping and starting now lol. Once he's going though he's unstoppable. Now his little sister wants her wheels off but seeing as she's only three I think she'll have to wait a few months first. Amazing how they always want to do what the older one is doing?

Yup. That is why I am WISHING it was still Detroit (as per my tagline)! From what I understand after speaking with mom, it seems that they have been getting rain up there. Nary a freakin' drop here in quite some time.
That is why I am heading up to Quebec then Detroit very soon. You can seriously only work outside in the very early morning or late evening / night here lately. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by J.D. DIAMOND from Sunday, June 28, 2009 7:33:26 PM)

Well said, Joe. I am with you about MJ and the passing of said icons in general.
Whether you liked them or not, all shared a part of our lives. Often whether you WANTED it or not. Michael Jackson, from childhood, to movies (the Wiz), to the cartoon to his youth....inescapable. While not the "confessional," I had more zippered / pocketed shirts in junior high and high school than I care to admit. Don't own a single MJ album, never had the Farrah poster and can't claim to have watched all of Ed McMahon's shows. However, I will certainly miss MJ along with the others. No doubt about it.
That said, I think they should interview Weird Al about MJ! HIS parodies were absolutely classic during that era.
I'm still in shock over the latest death to hit us. I grew up with MJ and Farrah. I must say that it's a bit of a frightening feeling to see icons of your youth dying. Makes you feel you have indeed grown up.
Well, Farrah was gravely ill so it was expected (even possibly welcomed given the unimaginable pain that poor woman must have gone through with such a devastating illness).
Michael, now that is propper shocking!
No matter what his private life was, nobody can take away what he was to his genre of music. He does have the highest selling album in history and was an icon. I feel for his family and for his fans.
[ron h] Friday, June 26, 2009 7:19:18 PM
Sorry I missed ya MG~
Well, I can't say that this is all unexpected...thank God I've got more to do with my life than most of the others I see on the news...like watch Top Gun...again...lol
Any death is sad. I wish the media and others would just let it go.
While MJ was a great talent, I have to be honest...I quit being a fan about half-a-nose ago. [Show/Hide Quoted Message](Quoting Message by spapad from Friday, June 26, 2009 6:17:43 PM)

In the Internet news here it said that music stores are being swamped by people buying MJ cds. Fuckin losers, if there one thing that gets on my nerves it's people that start bandwagon jumping like that. What are they thinking? Michael Jackson died so we better go out and buy some of his music so that when we're talking about his death we can say how talented he was and how we are fans.

Holy Crap!!!!!! Things sure were "hopping" around this place last night!!!! HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had over 200 posts to "backread"...YEESH! Where do I begin??
Thanks for all the latest comments on the album. It is doing very well and we appreciate that! Good to see ol' Darth back here! Also, it is VERY nice to see we are not being barraged by the usual tripe from certain losers. It actually looks like we are on the road to better times!! That is GREAT news!
As for the recent deaths of celebrities... Well......
Farrah was a lovely lady. Certainly an icon. I do recall having her famous poster in my room. I will admit it! I did not share in the morbid interest surrounding her fight with disease. I am sorry but, that hit far too close to home and I simply did NOT wish to see that kind of thing...again. I found NO entertainment value in it whatsoever. Now, I do understand that there are those who feel it was a great way to somehow get more people to help fight cancer, blah blah blah..but I just could not stand to see her in that condition. No disrespect to her or Ryan O'Neil. It just was not something I wanted to watch. I will forever remember Farrah Fawcett and as she was so many years ago. That works for me.
Michael Jackson. Hmmm.... I was never a fan. Did not care for him. I readily admit he was a musical genius and an innovator. He was great. However, there are many great musicians that I simply do not follow. He did not "influence" me or my music. He did not write the "soundtrack to my life". He did not affect me much in any way. He was a great entertainer and I am sorry for his loss. That is about it. My first wife had one of his albums, I think. That is about as close to him as I ever got. In fact, as crass as this may sound, I could really do without all of the media coverage. It is already getting to be FAR too much for me to stomach.
Ed McMahon. Now here is a great man. What a load of memories I have of him! He was the Master Sidekick!! A great guy. I kind of figured his time was up as he was really looking bad. I feel sorry for his loss, too.
OK, so there you have it. Now then, I am back on the road to vacation!! Much to do STILL!!!!!! I will be checking on you all later!!

I used to love That's Incredible. The intro was brilliiant. Hi I'm John Davidson and tonight on That's Incredible we meet a man who shot himself in the head with a nail gun 15 times and lived to tell the tale. Hang on a second... What do you mean you never watched Star Search? You used it as an example to promote the greatness of Ed McMahon and now it emerges that you've never seen the show. I smell a rat.
HAA!!! Could be. I must have been the only guy not to "love Raymond." Never watched the show (or Star Search, really). Couldn't tell you.

I loved watching Star Search but for the singing not the models etc--I remember I had a big crush on Joey Gian--he was a gorgeous man who looked kinda like Andy Gibb--I was madly in lust & I even bought the Star Search album with the best performances on it just for his 1 song --now I couldn't tell ya who the other singers were--I forgot them but he turned my socks back then
I think it was up against Real People or People Are Real --hosted by John Davidson
