It was stupid, eveyone was running round trying to buy this special drug to combat bird flu, people were scared and criticizing the government because they hadn't made enough of it to treat the entire population. I went out drinking with a mate who warned me of the dangers of it, he reckoned there was going to be an epidemic and people would be dying all over the place. I bet him $500 that within a year not one person in NZ will have died from bird flu. A year later no-one had died and he welched on the bet. One funny thing about it though was all these asian tourists were walking around with surgical masks on their faces.
