I got it! Back then we weren't knee deep in shit metal. Back then we weren't overflowing with metal music that just wasn't good! Nowadays there's so much out there, breaking metal into different groups. Thrash,hardcore punk, British, groove metal, death metal, speed metal, black metal.
Back then, and i'm guessin' Ron ment late 70's early 80's we only had a handful or more of so called metal bands that where good. Sabbath, Priest, Maiden, Scorpions, etc.(sorry if i left anyone out) So yea, they where the shit. They where the shit when the road was still dirt. They not only paved the way, they took all the negative heat in the begining of this movement... And i loved being part of it...

I apologize for that not being conveyed in my post. After re-reading it I can see where you might get the impression that I don't think they're STILL THE SHIT!! That (of course) is NOT true.

I still ask though, can a person be a fan of one and not the other?

Can you really be a fan of one and not the other?! I'm a fan of Maiden, But I LOVE Priest!!!
I will admit that 'back in the day' I think fans of different groups were loyal to their band. My drummer is better than yours, my singer is better than yours, my band is harder than yours. (It was like that when I was a kid.)
Priest and Maiden were the s**t back then.

Having the original Sabbath lineup on that bill would give it a major boost. IMO, I personally do not see Ozzy getting back with Sabbath unless it's the final show any of them play (goddamn you Sharon Osbourne  ).
