Thanks, Becks. While Guitardude is a self-proclaimed WWII afficionado, I didn't realize that you were. Oddly enough, though, there is a sign that posts every country who fought with the allies and shows the direction and relative miles to get there. I saw NZ and immediately thought of you! Don't think I got a pic of the sign (they were all pointing different directions, after all) but the tour was WAY kewl as is your story about your grandfather and great-great uncle. Had I only known....

The city was just outside Saint Malo in Brittany. The US bombed the walled city of Saint Malo to the ground (some 80% destroyed) only to find that there were only some 7 Germans there! Still some unexploded landmines on the nearby islands.

I am going back over Xmas. Plan to stay in Paris but might take a short trip to Normandy as I have never been. Lemme know if you want that dropbox link to see the rest of those bunkers as well. Quite impressive! Even the few shots I posted (with the travelling JP cross) you can see shell marks on that, what..., 2" thick piece of steel? Yup, impressive.

ps. BTW. It just happened to be VA Day when I went! Tour guide didn't mention a thing about it. Only learned when I asked why the banks were all closed!

Wow great pics Guido. I would dearly love to visit the WWII areas in France and Germany, my grandfather fought for the British Army there. I would also like to visit Villers-Guislan in France as there is a WWI cemetary there, and my great-great Uncle is buried there. He fought for NZ (or the British Empire) in WWI, served at Gallipoli, was invalided hoem injured, then returned to war only to be killed in France abut a month before armistice.

GD, sorry for the delay. First are the 39-45  lines where we blew the hell out of the Germans in France. First trip. I have plenty more as I had an inside tour as they dug themselves in for miles for fear of mustard gas.

I'll Dropbox you and the kiddy if interested. I certainly was...

Welcome back, HB! Glad to hear that you and your kids had a good time (and that the menacing bear didn't attack you). Can't wait to see the other pics.

Guido, have fun in Brazil. Don't forget to bring back some coconuts!

Greets from TX!  Glad to hear that you are back safe and sound (even though you didn't rip off a bear's paws with your bare hands).
To answer the question as I am bored in an airport (maybe I'll visit Snot! LOL), no. Many forms of alliteration. You want three? Ok, "rip off a bear's bare paws with your load-bearing bare hands!"
Damn, getting ready to board for the big flight. REALLY big commute. Two seats open anywhere near me? The poor soul in the third seat best guard themselves as I plan to dive into them!

I avoided all cowboy related activities last week (hard when the worlds biggest rodeo is here)

I saw a bear, but not for long enough to even take a photo, much less strangle him.
also spotted;
moose
deer
herron
bald eagles
big horned sheep

isnt alliteration stringing 3 or more words with the same letter back to back?  ha

This was family.  me and the 2 youngest, 2 nights at my brothers cabin, tubing, water skiing, and stand up paddleboard.  explored an old coper mine, and climbed the smallest mountain in the area

drove to revelstoke, explored the rodgers pass and looked at the alpine wildflowers on the summit of mount revelstoke. timed it well, due to very low snowpack they are blooming a month early, normal is mid aug.

welcome back

OOOOPS!!  Sorry 'bout that Baby Girl, give cred where due, still funny 2 days later

Yes, I / We are back though because of issues with trying to change old with new e mail addresses it was easier to just re-open under N.ever T.oo O.ld.

Downside is I can only post in the newbie threads 'til I get my points up.

Aunti B was telling me 'bout potential future possibilities and spirits are definately raised!!

Love and miss you guys!!
