Liege Lord "Fallout" 1988 Master Control LP

Been listening to my old Liege Lord CD these last few weeks and I posted this back in late 2005,listen to the last track "Fallout" right at the :27 mark as it totally sounds
like K.K. and Glenn's intro to the song "Hellrider" from 2005's Angel Of Retribution. I highly doubt K.K. or Glenn have heard this album before so its a coincidence but wierd.

I think you shouldn't judge this band just because they've been to American Idol. Throughout the decades they've been to a multitude of tv shows more or less of the same vein. It's just another show. Any artist of any kind will have their cheesy moments too. Say "Gorgoroth" out loud to a recorder and then listen to your voice saying it - it's a ridiculous name! C'mon!

I nevermet anyone after the American Idol guest appearance that wore a Judas Priest t-shirt saying they're embarrassed to wear it. You're too self conscientious about what others say or do when Judas Priest is your own personal thing and preference. It's what you like to hear and you shouldn't be embarrassed if it makes you happy to wear their merchandise.

Nobody lives your life for you.

That was great JayDee.
I wish the American crowds could be so kind and participatory, but history proves they are not.

Yeah but whats Ian supposed to say?  We suck now that Ken isn't with us?  I think Ian was being sarcastic sure but at the same time I'll bet not too many people are asking about K.K. on tour.....could you imagine....walking up to Ian to meet him and then asking about K.K.? I think he does realize that Ken is missed but I really don't think fans are complaining about it too much,at least on the road.

I immediately thought of you when I read that, Hellrider! Obviously, Ian has not visited JP.com!

I miss KK as well, but from what I have heard Richie seems to be doing pretty well. That just makes me more ready to see them when they come to my hometown of Tucson and rock that place to the ground! Also, great to hear that there is great progress in the making of the next album too. Can't wait!

Yes, a very interesting read. I for one am very happy that Richie is doing so well and the fans have taken to him. But to say that no one misses KK is going too far, IMO. No matter how well Richie performs at the shows I am going to, I will still miss KK very much, even as I applaud Richie. I accept KK's decision and life goes on, but that doesn't mean that I don't miss him.

But what I really loved reading in the full article, was that Ian had some input in writing songs for the new album!!!!

A shortened version of the San Antonio Metal Music Examiner interview that was on Blabbermouth:

JUDAS PRIEST Bassist Says None Of Band's Fans Are Missing K.K. DOWNING - Sep. 20, 2011
Jay Nanda of the San Antonio Metal Music Examiner recently conducted an interview with bassist Ian Hill of British heavy metal legends JUDAS PRIEST. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

San Antonio Metal Music Examiner: How is [the new JUDAS PRIEST guitarist] Richie [Faulkner] working out, and what can we expect of someone we've never seen play with PRIEST before?

Ian: Yeah, Richie is an altogether great talent. An absolutely excellent guitarist. He does what Ken [former PRIEST guitarist Kenneth "K.K." Downing] did, plus his own little traits. He's a great performer and character. We've been really lucky to find him. Even the way we found him — we weren't even looking. [laughs] Someone (else) was going to take over for Ken, and they couldn't do it, and it was him. You find what you can. We had a chat with him and gave him a go, and thank God. The crowd is taking to him well, and with all due respect to Ken, no one's missing him. [laughs] No one's asking about Ken.

San Antonio Metal Music Examiner: Really, you're not getting any feedback about K.K. not being there?

Ian: No, and you'll know why when you see Richie perform.

San Antonio Metal Music Examiner: You go back with K.K. during your schooldays, I believe, so it can be said that you're the closest to him. What was your first reaction when he made it known he was stepping away?

Ian: We were all absolutely stopped in our tracks. When he came up and announced that he didn't want to carry on . . . Richie knew for a month that he had the job, but God bless him, he kept his mouth shut. [laughs] We said, "Richie, if he doesn't come back, you've got the job." He must have been waiting to tell somebody.

San Antonio Metal Music Examiner: K.K. made it clear that it wasn't his health or his golf interests. Was it songwriting differences or a disagreement on whether this should be the final tour?

Ian: I don't know. Anything I say would be speculation. Personally, I think he had enough. Out of all of us, maybe he's the one who enjoyed it the least. If you ever get the opportunity, that's something you'd have to ask him.

San Antonio Metal Music Examiner: Rob [Halford, vocals] reportedly said the other day that you all have made significant progress on the next album. How far along are you, and what can you tell me about the songs or direction of it?

Ian: We pretty much finished three tracks. Obviously, we did this before Richie had come along. Rob and myself and Glenn [Tipton] and Scott [Travis]. There's still Richie's input to go on top of that. Rob and Glenn have got a lot of songs knocked out. My ideas, too, this time around and with Richie's input, we'll start on completing this album sometime next year. We're going to carry on from where we left off with "Angel Of Retribution". After the concept album ["Nostradamus"], we're going to get back to the heavy metal that PRIEST is known for.

I'm not sure if this is the article you are talking about PK, but ......... some very interesting comments made by Ian in this!

It's better to have them doing this last tour before it's too late and the management destroys our band and burns them and then burns their ashes again because things are screwed now, but they still can be worse. About the bike, obviously it should be recorded, a mic could not make it sound that good just like that, and about the intro being recorded, there are two options:
Richie is an idiot and his lack of experience with the priest made him start playing before making sure the metal god was ok (or probably he remembered the metal god is immortal and cannot be hurt ) or
it is recorded so that they do not start playing before the motorcycle rec stops playing or some lame excuse...

In any case, I'm glad he's ok, it would have been a nightmare to miss the priest in CR just a week before their arrival due to a bike accident and that we're seeing the priest go out through the doord of fame before management screw us all

Man I just saw an article that I KNOW will cause a s***storm but it's weird how it's put, and I can't really understand why it's like this. Maybe I'll post it around my lunch time and see what everyone thinks. (It is about JP too, specifically about KK.)

Yup! That is pretty much common knowledge. But what most people don't know is that the motorcycle is actually being lead onstage by stage hands via cutting edge string puppetry. What happened in Brasilia was that they decided to go on strike and as a result they didn't keep the motorcycle up long enough for Rob to pull out the kickstand. I'm telling ya, it's true!! It explains the laser shows and the new pyro!!
