I don't believe that any band has a single album/song that captures them.
I think you need them all to get the big picture.

Hell Bent For Leather. Priest are the man thats "black as night, faster than a shadow". Because throughout the history of metal, the metal bands that came out after them have been trying and failing at trying to take their crown.

[Nupe The Ripper] Tuesday, February 01, 2011 12:34:06 PM
The very first line on the first song, One for the Road, on the first album, Rocka Rolla: Where would you be without music? I think that symbolises the band and it's fans well. The rest of the song fits the band as well. Besides, that song set forth a new era in music when people first heard it in August-September 1974.
[JT_Small_Deadly_Space] Tuesday, February 01, 2011 7:23:45 AM
I think I may be alone in my opinion here but HEAVY DUTY/ DEFENDERS OF THE FAITH. What a tune and the lyrics are everything a metalhead stands for. Absolutely awesome stuff.

too many to choose...but I think I'd give it to You've Got Another thing Coming...it was cocky, it had swagger, it was IN YOUR FACE, it didn't take any crap, it had attitude and made no apologies. As a teenager, this was the persona we could only dream of having - indefreakingstructible!!!

For me, THE SENTINEL! Its the ultimate Priest song next to legends like Painkiller, Sinner and Exciter. Its a really good story and the way its told through the song No songs has such a cool story to it. I cant help but sing to that song. Its also one of the few songs i get stuck in my head even if i havent heard it in awhile.

Heavy Duty/Defenders of the Faith because they fed our metal hunger and defended our metal faith for many years and still are
Choosing one song is an impossible task, I couldnt even chose one album. They have always been on the cutting edge of metal and all of their music represents "that time in space" when it was created. I have watched and listened to them as they and metal morphed into what we have today. Great question! and not easely answerd... Every choice i try to make is changed for different reasons. Pick one. The Ripper...Screaming for vengeance, Rocka rolla, Pain killer.....I cant do it!

As Ageneral3 said, it is an impossible question. It is not easy at all, to pick only one song. Judas Priest gives so much, they have so much to say that it's not easy to choose "THE" JP song!
It is more possible to say which song symbolises Priest for every single fan? This may differ for everyone. For me, it would be Jawbreaker or Breaking The Law.

Difficult, really difficult. Hard to pin point really.
Living After Midnight, "this motor's revved up fit to break", I always associate them with rocking out and motorbikes so it fits for me.
But, if I want to 'show off' Priest I would likely put on Victim of Changes. Displays their rock solid melody and awesome guitar work along with far reaching vocals and a sense of drama. It is musically delicious!!
Oops, Hi, yeah I am new here. Loved Priest for about 20 years but never seen them.

Actually, there are many songs, but my personal choices would be:
Heavy Metal - Because it's Priest, it's Heavy and the lyrics describes what Priest are fighting for
Heavy Duty/Defenders of the Faith - Don't need any other description than the title.
Freewheel Burning - Great fast Priest song about what life should be all about!
Lochness - My personal favourite. It's long, heavy and atmospheric, and they really show huge songwriting skills in this!
A touch of Evil - A real grim song. And it's actually about love! :)
Painkiller - Heavy Metal's international main anthem. HAIL!

I really feel British Steel had a big under ground, word of outh movement(although I was 12 my brother was a SR) and they were hitting them & Def Leppard Rock brigade tour.
No Question those two songs made them. Plus, how can anyone dey the brilliance???????
Totally disagree on TURBO of course that concert was my dream come true to see them since I was 12It rocke to all in my high school( I am in JP Live 3rd row at that concert Reuinion Dallas)
People took notice and gave a look. My friends who none were in different groups all loved it. My daughter who is 7 loves Private Property, Parental Guidance, Out in the cold (of course her favorite JP is Breaking the Law & Living after midnight)
Pain Killer was trying to be to thrash Metal or Pantera like.
I actually hung out with Pantera & went on one date with Rex.
Just an old lady's thoughts
