Back in 1979 a friend made a cassette copy of the Hell Bent For Leather album and said, "Listen to this."  I was hooked immediately and started buying all the Judas Priest albums that were out up through that time.  I got Rocka Rolla and Sad Wings Of Destiny on vinyl as import albums.  NOTHING was as heavy as Judas Priest back then.  Black Sabbath was heavy, but Judas Priest was faster and more brutal.

My first album of JP and first song that I heard was Painkiller ( I was 12, now I'm 18). My second album was Defenders of the faith, and third British Steel. I'm very glad that I chose this band, this style of music. JP is my favorite!

I am not sure of the year but I was 13 or 14 ( i am 37 now). I was watching a music show called 'the power hour'.  Amongst other bands it featured an interview with judas priest and 3 videos- freewheel burning,  living after midnight and breaking the law. needless to say I was addicted.

The first album I bought was  british steel.

I first heard a Priest song back in 2003 while playing on a Playstation. As most of you could probably guess, it was GTA Vice City and "You've Got Another Thing Comin'". I only had defined my music taste earlier that year when I discovered Uriah Heep and Deep Purple from my father's CD archive, so I started with some of the pioneers of hard rock and metal. Therefore, it was only natural for me to pick the rock station as my favorite when I played Vice City. While the Priest song definitely stood out of the rest of the songs on the station, I was still too much into UH and DP, and my focus was on acquiring at least a small part of their extensive catalogue.

In fact, it wasn't until 2006 that I started to look for other bands. For the first time in my life, I had gotten myself a computer of my own with Internet capabilities (my previous ones didn't have an Internet connection). This improved my capabilites of finding more music greatly (my taste being limited to the traditional style of hard rock and metal, it was very difficult to find other bands that suited me from other media). Uriah Heep's material was mostly too much progressive rock and Purple's material felt a little "soft", so I started look for other bands to fill the gap. And because I knew only a little about other similar bands (Iron Maiden and Metallica weren't quite what I was looking for), I decided to look for the bands that were featured in Vice City. So I tested each of them out.

I honestly admit that I pirated a couple of tracks from each of the bands, including the songs that were in the game. The Judas Priest songs that I downloaded (in addition to You've Got Another Thing Comin') were Hellrider, Revolution, Painkiller and Jawbreaker. From the bands I had downloaded, Priest definitely felt the best. A few months later (after pirating some more songs, I'm willing to admit that), I started to buy Priest's records. The rest is history.

The first time I heard a Judas Priest LP it was Stained Class- it was awesome! I never followed much music and actually liked ABBA in those days! However my brother took me to my first gig  at DeMontfort Hall in Leicester UK - Judas Priest were playing with an unknown band called Iron Maiden supporting - the gig was fantastic - I was hooked - I have been to over 400 gigs so far in my life including bands like Motorhead,Pink Floyd,Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Saxon, Rush, KISS etc etc ......I have never missed a Judas Priest tour since the first time I saw them and I am gutted that they have decided to call it a day! But wild horses aint gonna stop me from seeing them one last time to say good bye and thanks for the good times!!      Paddy Oakham Rutland

ABOUT HOW I DISCOVERED JUDAS PRIEST MUSIC

I remembered that in my childschool i loved rap music and my favorite artist was Dr.Alban and in my teenagers year i loved pop music and my favorite artist was Michael Jackson(God Bless him)and i remembered that in that period of teenager year,in 2000,i met my first boyfriend,Lucian Videscu,a libra sign, born at 12 ocotber,4 years older than me then, with which i got in time the most serious and long relationship, about more than 8 years, with which i worked togeter in his firm and i lived togeter in my parents house, and which unfortunately,is not around us anymore, cause he died in 2007,on 17 july,in Italy,Brescia, where was to work for a while, and from where he came back in Romania to me,in coffin, but what i wanted to say is that my boyriend was a ROCKER man,and then i even didn't liked the rock music,i was about rapp,hip-hop,dance,pop,etc...I even remembered how strange i felt when i met that rocker man,i was in my last year of highschool, and then he worked in a rock store, and my sister knew him more early than me,she used to visit his store cause she liked him,and she wanted to be with him,and one day in the breaktime of our classes,my sister ask me to go with her at his store, cause she wanted to show him to me,to tell her my opinion about him,so we gone, and when we arrived at his store and i saw him,i man with long long hair, with all clothes broken on him,i tell her:"My god this is the man with which you want to be???"but what was strange was the fact that more late, this rocker man became my boyfriend untill he died, because in that day in when he saw me in the store,a girl with short hair and dressed like a rapper one,he fallin in love with me,and he told my sister to not upset but he dont want to be with her,but with me,and my sister told me that later, and then i think:"My god this is the man with which i will be???"and that was, untill he died, but i never regret this choice, because even if we were different,he with the rock music, and me with rap,and pop,we understood each other good,in bussiness but in love too,and he was a special man,how few are in our days,a powerfull one in the social life, which knew what he wanted from this life, and also a romantic one in the private life, which knew to keep me around him with simple things such as flowers, love letters,songs,etc...and carring me,respect me and loving me,just me,till the day he died, and probably know from where he is,should be very proud about the rocker woman which i became, but not because of him,and i am very sad that he is not around us to see that, but probbaly he will feel bad, because i became this because of other man, which discovered me the rock music, and also Judas Priest band.
I remember that was happen, now 4 years ago, some time after his death, when i met one of my actualy best friends here in my town, named Gianny Painkiller,a aquarian man,2 years older than me,and a rocker fan and a Judas Priest fan,and i remembered when we met,he was a rocker and me with my same rap and pop,but that was not an impediment to became best friends untill today,i remember the way how we met, then he was a meteoroligist man which came down from the montains where he worked as meteoroligsi togeter with his last girlfriend but who cheated him,and they break the relation and he came down in town, and he gave an newspaper announcement for searching a new woman, and i was after my breaking of my ex.man who died, and i felt alone, and i need it a friend and i answered at his annoucement an since then we became best friends untill today,a friend from which i got the love for rock music, for Judas Priest, and many other, such as the passion for travels, and photography.I  remembered the day when we met on a restaurant and we spoke ech other the lifes stories and he told me he like rock music and Judas Priest. Some time after, one day when he came in my house,he put me the Judas Priest tape British Steel album, and the Priest live dvd,and he ask my opinion, and i told him i dont like them style, and neither the albums, the songs, neither the voice of Rob,nothing. Some time late,he put me again these, and after i re-listen,i told him i like little them stile, and little the song Breaking the Law,and little the voice of Rob,and the same way was happen with the Fight band and Halford, which i didn' like at the first listening, but just late, but what is strange is that since then and till today they are my soul band, and Rob Halford my soul artist, and i am proud i discovered them,i am proud i got a small corespondence with Miss Jayne their manager, which passed all my letter to the band, and i am proud that i have all their music in original,i am proud i was at their first show in Romania,i am proud i got an autograph from Mr.Scott Travis, and finnaly i am proud i had dedicated and i administer for they some of net pages, about i invite you to look over ,such these below, and finnaly i will be proud to see one day again the Judas Priest somewhere in Romania, and also the Halford band in my city Arad,at our Rock on Mures Festival,at Port Arthur, and to met Rob Halford,to salute him,to thanks him for his music, and to give him my sorries for all my fan crazzines, and also to get an photo with autograph from him, and just like a crazziness, still dream to colaborate in music with him.

I was a Van Halen and Kiss guy, and I knew of the Priest, but wasn`t too familiar with them. Then , a cousin of mine who had a huge influence (the good kind)on everything I did as a teen, called me up and told me to get over there asap , he had a new ALBUM he wanted me to hear, I did as he asked and there it was, British Steel!
The rest ,as they say is history and it`s been a hell of a ride to date!

It's all because of a boy I had a crush on a guy in my German class.
He mentioned his two favorite bands were Van Halen and Judas Priest.
I had never heard of JP ... so, being the hopeful lovesick puppy I was, I investigated.

Never got the boy ... but I got the Metal Gods!
Been a huge, neverending, undying fan ever since.

Album at the time was Screaming for Vengeance.

... ah, good times .... goooooood times ...

It was in '81, I was 15. Just started to listen heavy metal since few days. A cousin of mine let me listen Made in Japan and The Songs remains teh same. This music got me too much. I started to listen radio to find something and I discovered Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Van Halen (someone could say these are not metal bands, I know, but witout some of them we were listening Acid Jazz). Once I went to s Store record to buy something and I bought: Rainbow, Whitesnake (ex Deep Purple so was easy) and the I saw a very nice cover, a hand and a blade with a very nice name 'Judas Priest'. Some photos showing five guys looking very heavy so I needed only to listen it. Well now, I'm still here. So it really stroke me.

I discovered priest by my homework :D I presented in my class my classwork about Heavy Metal. It was the first time when I was enjoyed from homework :D I watched documents about as Metal: A Headbanger's Journey, Heavy Metal: Louder than Life (you can see Judas Priest) and Never Say Die Heavy Metal - this is 4 part of document Seven Ages of Rock, so after this document I was very excited about priest. I´ve got a lot of information about PMRC too (I´ve never heard about PMRC before) so I was very surprised when I heard that Judas Priest were taken to court.....this story you know. So then I go to youtube and my first video was Breaking the Law, first album Nostradamus...woooow...that´s all. The End :D

'stained class' when it first came out i liked the album cover( when album covers meant something- CHECK OUT NAZARETHS '' ' NO MEAN CITY '' ) but i digress   that crazy twin guitar  with sreaming vocals sounded like something that a  spaceman would give to you from another planet  hard to describe the effect such ahead of it's time music...even when i listen to stained class on the digitally remastered cd 30 years later the same spine tingling stuff happens... british steel may be the template but stained class is the heavy metal fiends secret puzzle box .....

Well i had heard some judas Priest when i was a child i just didn't know it at the time. My mum is a diehard fan from1982. Anyway, i was in the city making some music purchases when i noticed the cd shop had Vengeance 82 playing on the tv in the dvd setion. I stayed and watched most of it. I was mesmeried by it. The twin guitars, the vocals, the leather and studs... the raw energy!! So i got the dvd, watched it every weekend while having a few drinks.. then thought its time now to expand the collection. So i started buying all the cds. Priest is my number one band.. and have been since te day i saw 82' vengeance playing in that shop.

The live record of 1987 (i think).  A mate put it on and that was it.  Time to get other stuff.  Defenders was the first.  The best metal record recorded.  Just my opinion
[Trick37] Sunday, June 15, 2008 4:39:26 PM
I was 9 (in 1976) and I was living in Rota, Spain (my dad was in the Navy).  I used to play marbles in the local playgrounds, and one of the older kids had been listening to Priest since 1974 (his family lived in England before moving to Spain).  I heard them on his tape player, and I was hooked.

I've been listening to Priest ever since, and I just saw them in Luxembourg this past Wednesday (11 June).  (NOTE: To everyone that has to wait to see them....EAT YOUR HEARTS OUT!)
