You don't need to get Demolition...maybe hear it but don't spend your money on it man,its got 13 tracks and to me the only worthy songs on it are the first 3 tracks..Machine Man,One On One and Hell Is Home..the rest is total crap.

Lochness off Angel Of Retribution is terrible as well,out of 10 songs on AOR...track # 10 "Lochness" is the ONLY song that sucks,the other 9 are classic Priest.

But yeah AOR was FAR from an expirement. The only experimental thing they did on that album was Lochness and they've ALWAYS had songs like that on at least most of there albums. The slower more epic numbers like Blood Red Skies. There all in the same vein.

Point of Enty, Turbo, and Nostradamus were huge leaps of faith. I haven't heard Demolition yet but I will someday.

Even when you think about it, Nostradamus was still VERY like to there 70's material in the terms of the more epic and moody numbers, which are abundent on there 70's album. The drama and passion is RIGHT there again like 35 years ago but I guess the only reason people don't like it is because it's not like what they did in the 80's. 70's and 80's Priest are completely different animals.

I do agree though.....but I don't understand how people can call Painkiller and Jugulator and Angel Of Retribution  an experimental album?

In my eyes...people who love "Metallica and Symphony" would like Nostradamus.

....and after the terrible experimental album "Demolition"....they came back and gave us "Angel Of Retribution"!!!!

I sure hope your right,it makes sense...they have always roared back with a "NORMAL" JP album....so lets hope so,the band is not getting any younger so it would be nice to get another Judas Priest album thats worthy.

I hope that Priest puts out another hardcore metal album next. I think they will to show EVERYONE that they still have it and can still do it better than anyone else!

I think their history shows that after something isn't accepted the way that they hoped, they go back in the studio and give the fans EXACTLY what they want. After Point of Entry, they came back with Screaming, after Turbo/Ram It Down (which was supposed to be a double disc set) they gave us Painkiller. I think we are in for an incredible album!

As for the new live album they are releasing in July, I can't wait! Halford's Live Insurrection was pieced together from multiple shows and I thought it was done VERY well. From what I read from people, Rob's voice in some of these shows in 2005 & 2008 was not his best. I can tell you that when we saw them in 2005 in a small venue at the Soaring Eagle Casino, his voice was dead on and his screams were the best I'd ever heard!! Cut right through you, it was incredible! So if they piece it together, we will get the absolute best version of each song, which I think is a GOOD thing.

That's not the point...

 The point IS, there is so much atmosphere and sound that in the dark you can hear it come to life and overwhelm your senses.

I listen to UNLEASHED to go to sleep as well and yes it's relaxing enough to me that I'll fall asleep halfway through SINNER..

Maybe try it in the dark at any time..  It's not as HEAVY as AOR but it's far more advanced and far better written..

 NOSTRADAMUS to me is  possibly PRIEST'S best album...

Sure it's not as fast or heavy as some of their previous material, but the depth and execution are brilliant. The song writing and instrumentation are also brilliant..  I can listen to songs like AWAKENING & REVELATIONS, SANDS OF TIME, PESTILENCE & PLAGUE, PEACE & CONQUEST, SOLITUDE & EXILED, and FUTURE OF MANKIND over and over..
 Great stuff especially Rob's vocals which are powerful and emotional.  Glen's solo in P&P might be his best..

Anyone who disagrees, try listening to it with the lights out when you're in bed ready to go to sleep..  Incredible album...

I now believe that the band will do an album in the vien between a cross of Painkiller and Angel Of Retribution,they have too many old school fans that are demanding this.

The pressure is building up on the Priest to deliver one of thier best LPs ever!!!!

They are idd getting of age, that's the main reason you just have to respect them for what they are doing.
We can predict the future so let's just wait and see or listen to what will come.

You can't love every album or song ,but if the biggest part of their repertoire gets you spontaneously  jumping up and down, than you can say your a fan.
One day it will be over , nobody lifes forever , but they will always be remembered and always be in somebody's heart. 

Give them the credit they earned !

What should I say? So many things are said before and I agree with a lot of them. I like Nostradamus, not every song but the most of them. It's a good album but not a masterpiece!! I don't want to have another epic. Another Painkiller?? Yeah, but not a copy, I want to have a straight forward ass kicking album and I think everyone of us want it too!! I think one day in the nearest future Priest are saying goodbye to us and that's ok 'Cause I can't imagine that the guys staying on stage in the age of 70's!! Yes, then we all have all their albums and we all have our memories. We all, the band and the fans, are a dream team. We need the band and the band need us!! And for myself they have given to me their best, their very best!! 1 or 2 albums, a live album, a live dvd, I think this will be before the end is coming, but the end is near!! One day Judas Priest is dead. Long live Judas Priest!!

hellrider I am with you...I should of said that "I do want another Painkiller"...but I don't think that the band "has it in them" anymore..god I hope I am wrong....
There would be nothing more I would enjoy than logging onto this web site with an "apology" for doubting Judas Priest. At least if that happens,I will have to admit I was wrong but at the same time I would get a killer Judas Priest album!

I wish I will have to apologize if there is going to be a next album???

I am "afraid" of Judas Priest......opening up a new CD from them and putting it on to listen to is like trying to cut the right wires to a "bomb". Its that scarry to me.

Well guys, PLEASE keep in mind that what I am saying here is strictly opinion. I find it incredibly difficult to believe that the Band would purposely do an album that they "knew" would be a disappointment. I mean, that makes no sense to me at all. Perhaps they were less interested in how it was received and more interested in how it was done? I have no idea but they are professionals and, as such, I am pretty sure they did Nostradamus with an eye towards selling it. In that regard, they would want the largest possible "buying" audience they could get, right?

I loved AoR. I really did. Great album. Don't care for every song but I can say that about pretty much every album. I don't have to like every song to think the album is great. As far as "damage" control, well...I do not believe they have done any damage. It is just one album. Again, just my opinion of course. As for Rob, I am prettty sure that anyone can have an "off night" but I see things that maybe not everyone else can see. Perhaps it is just age? Maybe he is not as healthy as he once was? Maybe he really is losing interest or just plain tired?  I have NO idea because I do not know him personally.  I saw the Band in 2005, 2006 and 2008. Each time I saw them, Rob seemed to labor and looked tired. The last time (Palms 2008) he seemed disinterested. Now, that is MY observation.

They still put on one helluva show. They are better than many bands these days half their age! They still play the classics and I still love to hear them, even though Rob's voice is not what it was thirty years ago. I understand that. I accept it. There are plenty of songs in their collection to thrill and entertain. Someday they will retire. Time marches on. I really hope they are not done yet. I have not lost "the faith" just yet!!

Freeze,maybe its about "time" that the band "should" hang it up and call it a day.  There will never be a Painkiller 2 or do I want a Painkiller part 2. But the band could of easily created another album
that is in the same vien as Angel Of Retribution without copying it.  Instead,they chose an album that they knew would not please "long-time-fans" in Nostradamus.
That is thier choice,not ours.  

I agree with you 99% but the other 1% leaves me with the thought of: " I would rather just see them retire NOW than put out another experimental album".Nostradamus has already done enough damage to old Priest fans.


I guess I am not as much as a Priest fan as everybody here...I'm probly the least Priest fan compared to all of you guys.

I don't want a "box of chocolates" for the next Judas Priest album..."Ya never know what your going to get".... 

And if Rob is showing his signs of wear & tear especially on stage,then he needs to force Judas Priest into retirement. I am happy with that.I don't really want another Judas Priest album after what you just told us all,that scares me.


We will all have the memories,the concerts(I have'nt seen Judas Priest since 1988 Ram It Down Tour) and the albums.  I do not own "Nostradamus" and I might never own it.
But I do have and love Angel Of Retribution,and if I get a Priest craving then I can always put it on and listen to it. 

Again,after what you have told us about Rob on stage,I am cool with Judas Priest  to retire,please do not let there be a next LP.

Well, yes, of course. Dont get me wrong, I enjoyed Maiden, and I would go again, even for the same price. It just isnt a way to treat fans, imo. I dont think you get the same attitude there, at least I hope not. A lot of bands, when they come here, they usualy go along these lines: "Well, lets just play a couple of songs to these easterners, who cares about them anyway." Thats why we get shows (if we even get them in the first place) that rarely last more than an hour and a half, with the band looking downright bored, like theyre doing it just so they can move on to the next, more important show. Now, I guess we have to understand them - they play a lot of shows in a lot of places, but still... If anyone thinks that we will be prepared to pay money to get looked down on, they are terribly wrong. I know that it isnt an investment - I dont go to shows to have any financial benefits from it.

I hope Priest are different. I dont know if they are, but lets just hope.

Strat, so long as you make it a formula you will not be happy my friend. Breaking it down to a price per hour is not going to work out as a financially sound investment for your dollar (pound, lira, ruble, whatever.) This is entertainment, not a service. Sort of like gambling. I understand your point but you have to look at it as art. You pay a price for a piece. If they play longer, great. If they play shorter, so be it. You pay for the moment. That will never be a good "investment", especially when money is tight.

I look at it as a memory that I cannot put into a value. It remains with me forever..like the '79 show I mentioned. I may have paid twenty bucks for my ticket back then and it was a lot for me as a college student but I did it anyway.

In any case, yeah, I hope so too. I hope they reschedule the show in Zagreb... But even then, if its during the work week, and costs more than 50 or 60€, then there is no way Im going. Fan or no fan, I remember Maiden - 55€ for an hour and a half. Robbery, if you ask me. And they were here - if I am going to drive for 2 hours in one direction, Priest better make a good show.

I guess I will finally comment. Not so much about the bickering, as I have long ago taken my fill of that nonsense but of Priest and Nostradamus and their possible next album.

Nostradamus is OK by me. It is not a "masterpiece", for me. It is not a "disaster", for me. It is just OK. I can understand what the Band was trying to do.  All fine by me. Someone a few posts down said something that makes the most sense to me...it was about Rob. Here's where I am going with this;

I have said to many of you (in private) that I sense Rob is losing his interest or just plain tiring. I hate to put it that way but I find that I cannot explain it another way. His vibe onstage during the Vegas show last year was one of weariness (Yes. I know it was the final show of that leg!). He made the comment during several shows last year, "..the Priest is back!...Again!" The way he punched the word "again" gave me pause. Has he reached the end? I cannot say. Certainly there are classic songs (Painkiller, Sinner) that really suffer now because he is unable to sing as he did thirty years ago. Please don't get me wrong! The music and the show are still awesome! But, Rob and the others are obviously not in their twenties anymore and it shows. Moreso with Rob's voice in the more challenging pieces.

There will never be a Painkiller II.  There cannot be. There is no way Rob can do those kinds of songs.  Moreover, it is becoming clearer to me that he may have reached the point where he is physically unable to do this. I am (nearly) fifty and I know I could not tour, regardless of my health issues. The guys are ,what?..sixty-something? People! Come on! The physical demands of touring as one passes sixty and heads towards seventy are remarkable!

I would hate to say good-bye to the guys on a professional level. I love them and their music. I am also a realist. Nothing lasts forever. If they do have another album in them, I am ready to hear it. If it is a follow-up to Nostradamus, so be it. I will listen. If they return to a more "classic" sound, I will listen. If (and we ALL know someday they WILL) they decide to say good-bye, I will always have what they left us. GREAT music and a lifetime of wonderful memories.

I get your points Necro and J.D., I really do understand where you're looking at this from. Still, get real, people.

I don't want another Nostradamus, I'd very much prefer a finish in glory with some good Heavy Metal that none other can do but the Priest. If a Nostradamus part two comes out, I will buy it, I will listen to it and seek something in it that I like, and I can guess that I will like the album.

Honestly, I prefer another thing like Nostradamus to a tired, forced copy of any of its predecessors. I don't want a radical change in their sound, I think Nostradamus was experimental enough thank you. Again PRIEST really are like a box of chocolates! It's a love it or hate it situation.

Also, there is something you haven't taken into account and it'll be my last argument in this discussion:

There are younger people coming into Heavy Metal. People who weren't around to see the hay days of Screaming or Defenders, or even Painkiller. Don't those people deserve to have a contact with the Metal Gods, live at least?

You mention that the band should wrap it up and call it a day, but you've seen them more than once I'll wager. Let me give you my example: I am seventeen years old, younger than Painkiller by a year. March 2008 was my first PRIEST gig, and it was the best thing in the world for me. The feeling of the first time watching the PRIEST is undeniably GREAT! Or am I wrong?

I saw them on the Nostradamus tour, mind you, with two songs off that new album. But the rest of the concert was a show of pure classics: Sinner, Rock Hard Ride Free, Dissident Agressor (WWOOO!), Electric Eye and then the encore: The Green Manalishi, You've Got Another Thing Coming and Hell Bent For Leather.

If it takes another Nostradamus to have them come on tour again, let us have it! I got that urge to see them again, and there are people who have NEVER seen them, and if they call it a day now, never will. For this younger generation of Heavy Metal fans, and I'm talking the real ones, defenders of the Heavy Metal Faith like the Priest and their spawn have preached since 1976!

Well, most metal bands have some Priest in them. I mentioned Rhapsody because they orchestrate their songs a lot, and have medieval - heroic fantasy themes... Nostradamus just reminds me of them.

Yeah Nocro...I think in my opinion that Angel Of Retribution is a classic great album,I have no problem with Retribution at all except for "Lochness", I actually like the first 9 tracks off that album.It is not as aggresive as Painkiller no,but it reminds me of an album like Defenders Of The Faith,but better in my opinion.

I'm not sure if the band has it in them to create another LP as agressive as Painkiller though.

I do love this band,but not as much as 85% of the fans on this forum,thats for sure...maybe even 95% of them.

I'm tired of "suprises"......I would like to see a british heavy metal album like Angel Of Retribution but not a carbon copy of it.

I don't know Necroticist,I don't have much faith in them ever releasing another kick ass album from start to finish.....
....if they start to write one then they will probly stop and say: "It's not different enough"....  who knows.

I'm tired of guessing.

I read somewhere on this site that K.K. was thinking about making a part two to Nostradamus for the next and possibly last LP,but I don't know if that is true,obviously.
If it is true,then I don't want another CD!

Oh my god,I can't believe it...Judas Priest and Forest Gump have something in common....
