Why the TURBO tour wasn't on par with the other tours

I can't believe this. You've started a thread about how disappointed you are about a tour which happened 22 years ago. Gimp.

Well,

The PRIEST toned  it down a bit and substituted mediocre material for the true live classics.

"ROCK YOU ALL AROUND THE WORLD" was an embarrasment.  "TURBO LOVER"  is good.  "RECKLESS" and "HOT FOR LOVE" should have been substituted for the lackluster and childish tunes "PRIVATE PROPERTY" and "PARENTAL GUIDANCE"..

I saw them every tour since "BRITISH STEEL". That tour and "POINT OF ENTRY" were the best..

The last two were great also..  Except for the fact that Rob lost his range during the "SCREAMING"  and  " DEFENDERS " tours about halfway, the early part of those tours were great( as seen on youtube such as Montreal) especially the Nassau Coliseum and MSG shows with GREAT WHITE OPENING UP..

Absolutelty...my first Priest show, there didn't seem to be as many girls that went to see them as there have been since around SFV, so you would have stuck out like a sore thumb (but in a good way)...

If I had a time Machine for Priest...one of my stops would be the first time I heard 'Desert Plains' live......that song has such a groove to it, I love it!!!

Here, let me help you get the paint off...

I saw the tour at the Rosemont Horizon in Chicago...it was in August and a friend of mine bought a couple tickets for my birthday...Cinderella opened up for them and interupted Priest while mid-set to bring out a big 'ol birthday cake and we all sang 'Happy Birthday' to Rob...sure, I didn't care for 'Turbo" much at the time, but the concert still rocked!!!

This evening on "Tales from the Absurd"

This is a "wet paint" thread, and will be treated as such I'm sure.

People, you have to come face to face with the facts: Glenn Tipton, Rob Halford and K.K. Downing put together as a writing team have no match on this earth.

Therefore, as long as they're together, PRIEST can't do a single BAD album. It is so written in the unwritten (but generally known) Laws of Physics.

Turbo is a great record, and people who can't see it in songs like Locked In, Private Property, Parental Guidance or Turbo Lover are taking this way too seriously. It was the 80s, they were feeling like it, why the hell not?

Why on earth would you right this off as a bad tour? It was a different approach to a going bland scene at the time.  And they deserve a hell of a lot of credit for stepping out of the normal realm of metal music. Turbo was not a bad album, maybe not their best, but i bought it and still listen to it from time to time. I was at the Dallas show for the Fuel for Life. It kicked ass , as do all their shows!!

[metalmaz] Thursday, March 12, 2009 2:37:09 PM

Well, I didn't see it ,so I can't really comment but I've sen the DVD of the Texas gig during the Fuel for Life tour.

Aside from KK's perm, I thought it was pretty good ,although I don't think Turbo is one of their better albums.
