Music, movies, books, events... Whatever you think we will remember the decade for

Well, as far as music is concerned, I think that the problem is really that there are so many genres around... Its like all that was made in the previous decades came crashing back on scene in this one. The 60s "retro look" has become popular, or maybe thats just me describing Amy Winehouses two-meter haircut.

Oh, and I forgot one comeback before. Bruce Springsteen, with the first good album since Born in the USA.

Oh, yeah, forgot about the technology. Social networking, and internet becoming more widespread than ever... And with that mp3s, iPods, and the music industry going online...

And the double B (Bush/Britney) will be something to remember too. Hell, its been what, 4 months? And I already miss Bush. The guy is just a living cartoon.

Dang...we're about to get into the 2010s already? Wow.

I'll add my two cents to this topic:

As far as music goes, I'll remember this decade mostly for the fact that this was the time when I listened to Judas Priest (HELL YEAH!!!) and other bands over the Alternative Rock and Indie crap that was flying around for the best part of the decade. I'll also remember it as the decade of *shudders* reggaeton.  It you don't know what it is, then don't even search for it. It's that bad (I know...an exaggeration, but still!). I agree with the resurrection of the old legends, though. Good to have Judas Priest and many others of their time still kranking out great music.

I'll also remember this decade for the following phenomena: Myspace and Facebook. Those darn sites have become so popular it's hard to believe. I should know...I have an account on both sites!!!! Why? I don't know...

Overall, I think we'll remember this decade mainly for the following: Myspace and Facebook, bling-bling crap, Hurricane Katrina, the emo fashion statement, Harry Potter, news coverage on Britney Spears for such a long amount of time (ARGH!!!), movie remakes and sequels (wasn't there a year where there were so many sequels, and most were more bad than good?), the H1N1 flu, power metal, George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Michael Jackson's trial, that Susan Boyle lady from Britain's Got Talent...and...that's it.   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by _strat_ from Tuesday, May 12, 2009 4:24:00 AM)

Yup. I just had a thought. In a couple of months, the 2000s will be over. What will we remember it for? All other decades are remembered for something. 50s for early rock`n`roll, 60 for hippies and beatlemania, 70s for disco and hard rock, 80s for NWOBHM and pop, 90s for grunge...

IDK, I couldnt say that anything stood out in particular in this decade... At least as far as music is concerened its been a real drag. Possibly the best thing is that its been a time of resurecting old legends. Judas Priest with AOR and Nostradamus, Rolling Stones with A bigger bang, McCartney seems to be somewhat alive too.

The new things would be Dragonforce with Inhuman Rampage, and in the non-metal department, Green Day with American Idiot, and Franz Ferdinand... But aside from that, nothing that I would care for much.

Movies were good, tho, imo. Lord of the Rings, Troy, Kingdom of Heaven, Pirates of the Caribbean...

The above is only what I liked, anyway... Anyone else? What will we remember the decade for?
