''Nostradamus; vindication
Nostradamus; is avenged

Nostradamus; our salvation
Nostradamus; he's avenged''

Epic Metal (heavy metal and rock opera)

This song, this rhytm, acoustic. it's hard to repeat (only PRIEST)
This is one of the greatest that I've ever heard!!!!!!!!!

The lyrics exude philosophy:

Epitaph ~ JudasPriest

The old man's sitting there, his head bowed down
Every now and then he'll take a look around
And his eyes reflect the memory-pain of years gone by
He can't regain nostalgic dreams he'll never see again

With trembling hands, he wipes a tear
Many fall like rain, there's one for every year
And his life laid out so clearly now, life that's brought death
So nearly now life once he clung to dearly now lets go

But spare a thought as you pass him by
Take a closer look and you'll say
He's our tomorrow, just as much as we are his yesterday

A lonely grave, and soon forgot
Only wind and leaves lament his mournful song
Yet they shout his epitaph out clear
For anyone who's passing near
It names the person lying here as you
And you...and you...and you...

good call on  " heroes end " a very under appreciated Priest classic !!

along with " white heat , red hot ", "invader",  "saints in hell", "savage" and " better by you better than me"
aw hell, the whole stained class album never got the respect it deserves

the  one  i  like  the  most   is  the one  of  course  you got  another  thing  coming

pure  &  strong  &  heavymetal  music  back in 1982  you  did  not  want  to mess

with  the   kind of  metalmusic , back  then especially  when it was  judas priest

singing it . and  when  they did it in my  hometown it  was  electiametal  that  memphis,

would  never be  the same again. the  british invashion  of  heavymetal  style  is  going

stronger  then  today  judaspriest  is  the  best  ever !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you are absolutely correct. I have posted about this in the past, especially Painkiller. It is rather obvious that the story of Christ is involved in this song.
A saviour coming from the skies and every eye shall see him. Mankind seeking redemption from the End of Times. Boiling clouds, thunder. All very much like a bible story to me.

This is what I think about a couple of different Priest songs as to the interpretations.

Raw Deal- This song is about gay rights. "The true free expression I demand is human rights- right!"  Also the story seems to be about a gay man being beat up in a bar for being gay.

Exciter- This seems to be sort of like a "salvation through sin" kindof thing.  Exciter is the savior, and he is coming to deliver us to evil.

Stained Class- A song about the corruption of power, plainly, and some of the most beautiful lyrics ever by The Priest.

Jugulator- In my humble theory, Jugulator is the monstrous beast that The Painkiller was saving people from.

Demonizer- A fight between the Hellion and the Painkiller.

Also, it seems that the image of a savior is used alot, and I think the characters are continuous.  Starbreaker is Exciter is the Sentinel is the Painkiller, just at different stages of their herodom.  They are all the "Angel of Retribution," the fallen being on the "Sad Wings" cover.  Judas Priest's albums have been telling the story of this savior since 1976.  This, to me, is one of the main symbolic and continuous elements of Judas Priest's music.  The image of a savior that you get from these songs.  And they are the Priest that preaches salvation to the heavy metal masses.  This is just my take on things.

Judas Priest lyrics are like Calgon--Take me away !!!---no other band I listen to can make me forget all my troubles like The Priest can--they are Defenders Of The Faith but they are also Healers Of My Soul--

I love these lyrics. They relate to most everyone everyday
how we take for granted things until they are gone:

I heard a human voice who sang like no one else
I heard a proud lady singing loud
Lived her life as she liked, didn't give a damn
But soon she found she was underground and wasted

I watched her hitting notes as she strutted stage
Her body shook oh, she did her stuff
She screamed and quake, give and take, maybe took too much
If you take the smooth you gotta take the rough

Why do you have to die to be a hero
It's a shame a legend begins at its end
Why do you have to die if you're a hero
When there's still so many things to say unsaid

I heard a man's guitar electrify a crowd
I felt the sound shower 'round
And he would take you with him where no music's been before
As you merged the power surge together

His music knew no limits if you were in it's wake
You had no choice, no, but hear its voice
And you would listen hypnotised, and in a dream
But once so strong survive or become weak

Why do you have to die to be a hero
It's a shame a legend begins at its end
Why do you have to die if you're a hero
When there's still so many things to say unsaid

If you gaze across timeless years you'll find them always there
And many gods will join the list compiled with dying care
Hungry mouths are waiting to bite the hand that feeds
And so the living dead carry on immortal deeds

I saw on silver screen an actor's rise to fame
But fast car user lose
That legend's born from death and that is such a shame
'cos every year new ones appear

Why do you have to die to be a hero
It's a shame a legend begins at its end
Why do you have to die if you're a hero
When there's still so many things to say unsaid.

l love the way that the conservative wankers always blame heavy metal for violence drugs unemployment fuckin war in the middle east .what the dickheads don't realise is that metal appeals to the disaffected the disenfranchised ...as Judas priest sings in breaking the law..'' YOU DON;T KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE !!!!!! At various times music is all you have ask anyone who has ever been unemployed or down on their luck.....Those Aboriginal kids in the gangs that love heavy metal didn't choose to be born in the degradation that they suffer...just as some bloke in the midlands didn't fuckin ask for the factory to be shut down ...or some kid in some shit town in the middle of nowhere didn't ask  for copping shit off the local pigs because he  doesn't look like a ''normal '' kid ....  it is the music of the underdog and the fantastic sounds that judas priest create evoke an aural soundscape of metallians , electric eyes , turbo lovers. painkillers , exciters, sinners tyrants and metal gods that take you far away from the shit of the everyday...even now in my forties i love to let Rob and the boys transport me to places that only exist beyond the realms of death....

have a good one...!!! brian
