Anyone here ever get the opportunity to try the Uber Metal Distortion by Line 6 ? I heard demos of it.I'm curious to try it myself and maybe buy one.Correct me If I'm wrong I think it has a bulit in noise gate.Lots of high gain on it. What I heard through the demos of it sounded really good but I guess I'd have to try it for myself. I have a Danelectro fab tone that I quite like. There Pedals aren't that expensive and for what they cost they have a pretty descent sound but I guess that's just all a matter of personal taste and opinion because I know it's like comparing apples to oranges I suppose. Some guys will tell you" This Pedal or this amp is crap !" while others will tell you the oppossite and praise it up and down. Anyhow just wondering if any of you guys tried the Uber Metal.Would like to hear your opinions on this product. Cheers!..

Look her up on Youtube, she`s a great player and hot as hell! She has a video with Steve Vai that is really cool. Other wise she plays the power pop stuff, but she can rip!

Gear? i go thro a bit...started as vocalist - guitar came later...anyway have had a Hohner Telecaster copy, several B.C. Rich (Rave II, Warlock (inc. prototypes & custom)), Washburns (Steve Stevens & BT4), ESP LTD M100 (NEVER again!), Vintage S.G., Aslin Dane S.G., Keiper power-strat, Tempest 'Charlie' (Neck-Thru Jap thing). Amp wise = Watson, Gorilla, Hohner, Laney, Several Marshalls (last was 5010), FX - Zoom GFX707 (I & II), Digitech RP200 (UGH!), and my fave DODTEC4X - had ALL the tones i needed and plays well live. Swear by Jim Dunlop 2.0 Big Stubby picks. D'Addario EXL120+ strings. Tune straight or C#. (Think that covers it).

I haven't heard of the lady from Austrailia that you mention. I remember guitar world had a contest to see who was the best shredder and Glen and KK were judging it and the winner got a hamer v autographed by Glen and KK and a Mike Aemott signature head and stack by Randall. I wouldn't enter it because quite frankly I suck  *LOL* even after a little over 20 yrs of playing. That's cool thoe for the winner to get a Guitar autographed by Glen and KK. I would love to have them scribble on my Axe or even play it.

That is a brand that has eluded me, but I would like to try one. They must be good though, even that Austrailian girl Orianthi plays them and she`s an amazing player.

Actually I've heard some good stuff about the line 6. Don't know how good there onboard effects are.I nearly came close to purchasing one before I got my marshall.

Yea, way to much shit for sure, but rack units back then were overly complicated and I just didn`t want to take the time to learn them. Even though I should have.

I have toys.
I am working with a rig that ican travel with, andthat i can set up quickly. A rig that is expendable. SOOO. i went with the Line Six 150WATT head into a smaller version of Marshall 4X12. THe tone is not everything i want but you get what you pay for. I have got a couple of JACKSON's. I have been more attached to my ESP LTD. Lately. I will probably go back to my Marshall head with pedals. MOre Speakers YEs. Edited at: Thursday, July 01, 2010 11:51:41 AM

I only have a memory of what I once used, but here is a list, some of which I still have most I don`t
Marshall JCM 800 2205 (20 plus years, but gone now)
Marshall JCM900 2500 SL-X (for a few months)
2 Marshall 1960 cabs(a&b)
Boss pedals were
DS-1 distortion(still have, though not the original one)
2 DD-3 digital delays
OD-1 overdrive
CE-(?) chorus
GE-7 eq (the old model)
Flanger( only for a short time)
 And other brands
Rocktron Silver Dragon (still have)
Rocktron Hush (pedal version)
Dunlop Dimebag Wah pedal
BBE sonic maximizer(pedal version)
I used BC Rich American series guitars(the Gunslinger models) with Dimarzio`s at first, later switching to Duncans and have had a couple of Epiphione Les pauls, a Jackson USA model and currently have a Peavey HP Special that is on my profile page.
Strings back then(late 80`s early 90`s) were GHS boomers, now going with Ernie Ball Slinkies
Always used .009-.042 gauge and only tune down a half step.
But now I`m doing the domestic thing with kids and I only play thru my son`s Fender G-Dec amp!!   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Palmer Griffiths from Tuesday, June 29, 2010 7:35:16 PM) Edited at: Wednesday, June 30, 2010 5:49:26 PM

I'm trying. Right now I use Dean Markley 12's and 13's on my guitar which is a Samick which has a floyd rose double lock.. Usually I tune pretty low because the heavy guages would lift the floating bridge off the body if you tried to tune to standard tuning. What gear are you using ?

Yea, I was a Boss guy for years, I had so many, it would give you a damn hernia to pick up the case I made for them! But sometimes even the lesser pedals can sound great. Experiment, you may discover "the tone" you`ve been searching for.   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Palmer Griffiths from Monday, June 28, 2010 9:21:59 PM)

USe a little chorus with the distrotion for the rythym chanel. THe Boss digital Delay is great for soloing. switching  the reverb on works.

Hey thanks for your advice man. The Marshall I have is a solid state. I have a Metal distortion I used for years which is a cheap one called a Rocktek Metal worker.  I tried it through the Marshall but didn't like the sound of it.For some reason it sounds better through a smaller amp. I also have a Danelectro Fab tone that I've been using through the Marshall and that one sounds awesome. Has a good tube sound to it and heavy as shit. I know what you mean about the onboard effects.Alot of people say that. I'm sure Pedals are much better because with the knobs you can pretty well tweak everything to where you want it. I have a Zoom 505 processor as well but I think I'd just prefer to have a row of Boss Pedals taped to the floor.   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by guitardude from Saturday, June 26, 2010 4:05:40 PM)

It is best to always put an overdrive/distortion pedal in front of an amp . This way any efx you have in the loop can do their jobs better.Or just put them after the OD/Dist. in the chain.
remember this little phrase
it`s better to process your distortion than to distort your processing. plus you can boost the level in the loop  to help make the guitar seem much more touch sensitive and(if using a tube amp) drive the post harder.
Most onboard efx are only middle of the road as tey are digital, but using something that small to do so many things, the processing power suffers , giving not quite what you want. But either way, still plenty good for home use.

It's funny you mention that Man.Because alot of people I've read reviews on about the amp  say the same thing you're saying about the on board FX and as for the Overdrive a few chaps were saying get an overdrive pedal to give it some guts. When I got the Amp I tried the Dave Mustaine  Dean Signature V through it.I found it uncomfortable.  I was scratching my head a bit because I was trying to run a  distortion pedal through the effects loop at the back and it didn't sound too good to me and the manual for the amp really didn't explain clearly to me that you should only run effects like an Eq,Chorus,Flanger through the back. I went back to the music store and the salesman told me to run the distortion through the input at the front. My face was red I felt like a dummy. Oh well .   [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Necroticist from Saturday, June 26, 2010 8:48:09 AM)

Ya - tried it - wasn't convinced with the onboard FX. The MG series were pretty good...but i prefer the RCD models with my own FX. Soz. Still - good for home i guess...better off (IMO) with a straight amp and either multi or seperate pedal FX in a live situation. As for the V -fine if u play standing...at home u have to jam the 'v' bit into ur thigh...not a really comfy axe. (Just my humble opinions).

Hey folks just got a new Combo amp it's a Marshall Mg 100 fx. Has anyone tried it? I never got a chance to really use it yet.I only got it last week.It has built in Reverb,Flanger,Delay and Chorus in it. I was in the music store today and saw a Gibson V just like the one KK used to play.It was the same Color as his. They wanted like over $1200.00 for it.
