I've never bought bootlegs. I'm new to the internet and beyond that I've never trusted the quality.
My first Priest show was 81' Point of... tour. I still think it was one of the best tours I've seen. I've
seen all of them from that point on except Ram it Down. Point being, I would love to get a live video
from that tour. You list two of them. Any advice on how I can obtain a copy of one of them. Maple,
Guido?, Anyone?

Just wanted to chime in on this thread. As an advid collector of Priest live boots, I too have experienced the same thing in which many shows proly have a soundboard recording but were never released. The one that comes to mind right off the bat is King Buscuit 1986 St. Louis show. If you didnt record it when it was broadcast over the FM waves, you missed it b/c the recording circulating is an audience one, which is passable at best. I would try to find the best recordings from each tour/era, and yes most of the time they are soundboard, but there are some really poor audience recordings (Reading Fest 75, NY Palladium 77, Hammersmith Odeon both 1978 & 79 are a few). Here are a couple from each tour which represent the best audio boot recordings I have come across. They are as follows:

1978 - Tokyo (The video release is good, but there are 2 additional ones out there that are vg.. Far East Tokyo etc..)
1979 - Osaka (recorded a day or two b4 but right around unleashed in the east), Palladium NYC Nov 79 (last date of Killing Machine tour) FM broadcast is vg, vinyl not so good
1980 - Denver & Syracuse (Not a great recording, but vg)
 1981 - Palladium NYC Aug 81 & London Dec 81
1982 - King Buscuit was decent, but not great sounding, Memphis/San Antonio official release (Live Vengeance)
 1983 - US Festival May 83 & Dortmund Dec 83
1984 - Long Beach, King Buscuit Alberquerque, Montreal (extremely hard to find!)
 1985 - Live Aid (3 Songs)
1986 - Dallas (Official Release), Gottenburg & Toledo OH
 1988 - New Haven CT

No Painkiller here folks, thats when I stop with the Priest live boots. I hope this helps in your quest. Plenty of good quality traders on the net to add to your collection. On the video side though, IMO: it is a shame Priest doesnt have more in the vault and dont grasp the past. This to me is sad. Thanks.

Thanks Necroticist! I think I have all (Priest bootlegs) soundboard recordings that you can get on a free market!? '81 London show including! I remember (music) newspaper reports from these days and they wrote Priest were the best band. I have already several (or always one, the same copy?) audience recordings and it was not so bad, but sound is . You are a lucky man to been there, I wished, I would also have been there too. My first Priest gig was on March, 4th 1981 in Berlin, with Saxon as support. Those were the days! Cheers!

Well - i was at the Donington gig and as far as i know all recordings done that day were under license and JP were the only band to refuse said offer. The BBC recorded extensively that day both for later release and TV show(s). Have never seen any quality JP recording from then...and to be honest from what i recall you're not missing much. (Soz). Try the Hammersmith '81 BBC show - it's better.

 Hi Priest Freaks worldwide!

Question for "die hard" fans: Is there really no soundboard recording from the Monsters of Rock Donington 1980 concert? I'm searching for 30 years for soundboard recordings, but never ever found it, always only audience recordings. There are "Monsters of Rock" LP with soundboard recordings from Rainbow, Scorpions, April Wine, Saxon, Riot and Touch! There are the full concert from Saxon on CD! Riot, too....and I found one more song from Scorpions "The Zoo" as soundboard recording, but Priest? = no chance!!!! I can't believe it, that there is not one!!! soundboard song anywhere from Priest in Donington 1980.

Second question for the japanese Priest Freaks! We know that "Unleashed in the East" Cover was made in a studio in May 1979 ( yes, the most of the audio stuff was made in studio, too,   but is the best "metal live" recording ever!!!!!). The Japan Tour was in February 1979, how looked Rob on this tour really? Original outfit? Maybe there are people here, that were there, and made photos? Thanks for infos!!!!!
