I haven't been on this board in a few years, but just re-signed up so I could tell the world how awesome Priesat was in Edmonton on Tuesday night! The guys played like the warriors they are, for about 2 hours 45 minutes. I anticipated them busting out just a few songs where Rob could hit the high notes just to say "See, I can still do it when I want to", but he was going upstairs all freaking night! He truly IS THE metal God! And Rob let the crowd sing all of "Breaking The Law"- my voice is just coming back, days later!
The band was great; Glenn as always, and Scott was a monster behind the kit- he makes it look so easy! Enjoyed Richie's performance immensely, he's a great fit for the band. Gained a whole new respect for Ian, however. He isn't fancy by any means, but I love the way he just leans right into it and gets the job done. Ian Hill's bass playing is, IMHO, the bedrock that the rest of the band stands on- well done, mate!
Thank you SO MUCH for coming to Edmonton! I had to drive 2 hours to get there then two hours to get home again, but would do it again in a heartbeat. You love your fans and it showed, I hope you felt the love we sent back to the stage!
THE THE METAL GODS!!

Thank you for that update, though it was posted over a month ago, I just read it. I posted something in the "Got my ticket" thread, my question was why has the Winston Salem had no floor or direct side seats available since damn near the tickets went on sale? We go to alot of shows in the Va. Beach area and I have a few theories but I just don't get it. The fact that good seats haven't been available since day one has me slightly baffeled, ORCH seats are out there, but of course they run $250 plus, which we are toying with going with, but damn after reading your post (Maple Syrup) and the fact that we are fairly up to speed on getting good seats we can't put a finger on it, unless one of my theories that BLS is drawing their following in droves. Just a little rant here while not getting it, thanks. The arena holds 20,000. I am also hearing tix sales have been poor in detroit and other parts of the US. IMO JP has saturated the US market in recent years touring here every summer pretty much since 2006 and add in KK's departure and Priest will not be seeing the crowds in the US that have had in Europe and South America/Mexico on this Epitaph tour. The sun is surely setting here in the US for Priest. Time to wave goodbye one last time.

Festival seating is when the floor is standing room only, which means there are no seats and your position in the crowd is only hampered by your ability to get to the front. These shows fell out of favor in the late 80's, early 90's due to a few crowd surges that killed a few people. So festival seating is usually only used in small venues these days.

Could be that they are going by venue size and capability for this tour. The Winston Salem place will sell well as they are only seeking to fill a half arena. They are playing some more intimate gigs than they used to back in the day. That is just fine by me as it makes it a show with not a bad seat in the house. I'm going to one pit style festival seating and one seated show. I'm more excited about the festival seating. I've never gotten a bad view at those shows because I'm clinging to the rails! lol Fall just can't rush along fast enough now. lol

It was hot as hell and the audience was wild, drinking beer and taking their clothes off, and the boys were playing like madmen, The last time I saw them was again in the same place in Raleigh as part of OZZFEST 2004. They played a great show " opening" for BLACK SABBATH....but...after that...nothing.
They never came near for the ANGEL OF RETRIBUTION or NOSTRADAMUS or the BRITISH STEEL ANNIVERSARY TOUR.
SO yeah, I'm super happy with my 4th row tix and will keep hoping that they schedule some more shows maybe in Charlotte, Virginia. South Carolina or somewhere close so I can go see them again.
ISN'T IT STRANGE THAT THEY HAVEN'T SCHEDULED ANY CONCERTS IN HUGE CITIES LIKE BOSTON, CHARLOTTE, ATLANTA, DC, ETC WHILE THEY HAVE A BUNCH OF SHOWS IN CANADA & TEXAS ???? MAYBE THERE WILL BE A SECOND USA TOUR LEG?? ANYBODY KNOW?? LET'S HOPE.

Thank you SPADAD for the great news!!! Are u kiddin?, Winston-Salem is my backyard. I'll be there with my 12 year old son so he can learn what real heavy-metal is. I'll be looking for more dates around this area ( rest of NC, SC and Virginia ) to see if I can catch them more than once. Thanks again for letting me know. |

Well the problem with Madison Square Garden is that Priest has been banned from playing there ever since the 1984 concert, when the audience went wild and started ripping seats off etc., causing a quarter of million in damages.

They said the tour would last two years, what do you want? They announce them as they get them booked. If you don't like what you see. Wait. You obviously don't want to travel, so just wait.

Thank you Longshaor for understanding my question. Sure writing "travel" is easy but right now the 2 closest shows are IZOD ( a14 hour round trip) and Florida ( a 22 hour round trip). It just seems weird to me that after playing a bunch of shows in Texas & Canada the Priest would not tour the East Coast except NY/NJ & FL. One of the besy concerts I've ever seen was the Priest in Raleigh, NC in1991 where the band was wild and the audience was one of the wildest I've ever seen ( and I've seen a lot). No concerts in DC? Atlanta? the Carolinas?Virginia?. I am hoping the band will announce the East Coast leg soon. Maybe they will take an x-mass break and then come back. If not then maybe I will " travel" to the IZOD show if tix are ever available ( there is a rumor that the ticket hawks already have hoarded most of them). I've been lucky enough to see the Priest 3 times but I would love to catch them one more time. |

Hi dude, I'm sure you've seen the tour schedule before but I'm just posting it here for convenience of discussion. Perhaps the dates already confirmed may not be close enough to you but I know as much as you if JP will add any more dates besides these. They may or not. Are you saying that the tickets are not available for purchase yet? The dates I see are far into the year in November. Perhaps that is why the tickets are not available yet. It's now just middle of July.
It's not ok to answer your very valid question with a brute: "Go travel."

I'm still confused about Priest's norcal date in Concord on the 27th. I looked up tickets on ticketbastard but nothing shows up. I was originally going to try and see them back home in socal at the san bernardino show (where I saw them for my first time back in 08) but I'm not sure I'll have the money to travel back home. Does anyone know what's up with this?

Ok, here's the deal: You guys play all over the States till you get to New York and then... you go back to Canada ...and then...just when you are ready to hit the EAST COAST... you do 2 gigs in Florida and that's it!!! ARE U KIDDING ME??? . IS THIS A SLAP IN THE FACE TO YOUR MILLIONS OF FANS THAT LIVE IN THE EAST COAST??? Maybe you are just taking an X-mass break and you will
come back and do the east coast later??? If that is so PLEASE let us know now so we don't lose our minds waiting for a gig that is reachable. The East Coast of the USA is much ,much more than just NY and FL. LET US KNOW NOW PLEASE |

When I first saw it I really did get confused. I remember the Heaven and Hell ad still being up
so I thought it was an old date. It made me wonder if I knew what year it was.(I got a little nervous)(LOL)
After much thinking and finally asking my wife if this is 2011 I realized it was a date for the current tour.
That's when I saw the show details and clicked on. It had them playing around 9:00pm and it said Dio
and Heaven and Hell. That really confused me and led to my post here. Then I went to Dio's web page
and after looking around for a minute I saw something about Dio Desciples. OK, I haven't lost my f#cking
mind yet. Cool. Oct. 27, 2011
Allston, Ma.
Judas Priest
Entombed
Botch
Dio
Suicidal Tendencies
Then on the show details it gives performance times.
Under Dio it says Dio and Heaven and hell.
Maybe someone here can clue me in.
This is 2011 right?
Dio is dead right?

OK I get it.

I agree with the post below. Turning Circles is cool and Alone

"Alone". I love that song.

Of course, the biggest disappointment is KK’s absence. Frankly, I miss him more than when Halford left. I also believe the fact that his replacement, while musically competent, was selected because of his resemblance to KK. It reeks of a Gene Simmons stunt.
I am also largely disappointed with the set list. In the press prior to the tour we were promised a set list for the long-time fans full of rarities or songs never played before live. That is not what was delivered. Aside from a few good selections, like “Blood Red Skies”, it is the same old, same old.
I understand that a major constraint in the selection of songs is the diminished ability of Rob’s voice, but they could have delivered rare, less strenuous songs.
If the true intent was to deliver a rarity filled, career retrospective set list, selecting a minimum one song per album, then songs should have been selected using the following guide rules:
- Is it a Judas Priest original? That means no cover songs should be played i.e. “Green Manalishi” & “Diamonds & Rust”.
- Has the song ever appeared on a Judas Priest or Halford live album? I will assume this tour will result in a live cd/dvd, if so the main selling point is the inclusion of never before played songs. This includes Rob singing songs from “Jugulator” and “Demolition”.
- Songs should not be too vocally demanding so Rob can sing them night after night without him doubling over and looking at the ground constantly.
Bearing the above in mind, here is my suggested set list:
- Rocka Rolla = Rocka Rolla
- Sad Wings of Destiny = Dreamer Deceiver
- Sin After Sin = Here Comes the Tears
- Stained Class = Saints in Hell
- Killing Machine = Before the Dawn
- British Steel = Steeler
- Point of Entry = Don’t Go
- Screaming for Vengeance = Devil’s Child
- Defenders of the Faith = Night Comes Down
- Turbo = Reckless
- Ram It Down = Hard as Iron
- Painkiller = One Shot at Glory
- Jugulator = Cathedral Spires
- Demolition = Metal Messiah
- Angel of Retribution = Worth Fighting For
- Nostradamus = Conquest
After these you can play whatever you wish, I personally cannot imagine a show without “Hell Bent for Leather” and the motorcycle.
My two cents. |

Hey, new here and would like to comment on opening bands. Saxon and Grave Digger-neither play North America since our radio airplay in both the US and Canada is lame. Both bands are amazing and it would be great to see them live.

Remember guys, no one said this was "going" to happen, just something Rob said he would like. | | Head banger wrote: | | Tommy iomi might not have mentioned this but Dio died. so the vocal choices are Ozzy, Gillian who did one disc about a million years ago that I think only about three people including me liked or Tony Martin, who has about three fans. without Ozzy sabath is relagated to playing average sized bars mid week. | | Brian_Evans wrote: | | I wouldn't blame Iron Maiden if they didn't want to open up for someone else because Maiden are so huge. Black Sabbath would be on first because they created metal. (not sure who would be the vocalist though) I guess if it has to be Ozzy then it has to be. lol
Judas Priest second because they had their big influence on metal also after Sabbath.
Iron Maiden third (headliner) because they are the biggest band of the three and also had a huge influence on metal.
Now this is just my opinion and no disrespect in the order. And if you want to throw Saxon and Motorhead (alhough their not metal according to some) in there as some kind of mini pre show thing to warm up the crowd then ok. lol
