Slight correction there: Spapad was right that Gull Records owns the rights to he first two albums and any demo recordings they made during that era. However, as the original writers of the songs, they kept the full rights to perform (and re-record if they wanted to) any of the RR/SWoD songs. That's why a few SWoD tracks (Victim of Changes, The Ripper, Tyrant and Genocide) remained in the setlist throughout the 70s, although Rocka Rolla was completely ignored after 1976 (before Never Satisfied was played this year). Tyrant and Genocide were permanently dropped in '82 to renew the setlist, but VoC and The Ripper have remained to present day.

An example: a couple of RR and SWoD tracks were featured on Metalogy, and Sony had to pay licensing fees to Gull for those. If they had re-recorded them, or used live versions of them (if they would exist), they wouldn't have had to pay anything. That's why all Sony/Columbia compilations usually use the Unleashed in the East versions of SWoD tracks and completely ignore RR.

I do wonder though, that how they have settled things with Gull regarding the upcoming Studio Albums boxset, as it also includes RR and SWoD, supposedly in remastered format as well.

She is right about the label. Priest even came out about not buying that re-label.
Sad state of affairs, that.

Same thing but under new management. Don't toss them though, you will never get an issue officially from priest unless they were to buy the copy rights.

Yet I read that the artist was still in the pocket of Gull. Saw it in an unauthorized group biography.
No matter. BRING IT BACK!!!

(read this as: what the hell am I going to do with the best JP logo ever?! Make it bigger and into a bottle opener!)

Okey, I have "KOCH Records label (http://www.kochrecords.com) on my ROCKA ROLLA and SAD WINGS OF DESTINY album. Bought these two form official Amazon web site (not market place in the US). I hope its an authentic or whatever...

I am all new to the details of the Band history, so thank you so much for explaining it to me.

Nope. The artist owned that. Sin After Sin had the script logo.

The reason both Sad Wings and Rocka Rolla were not released with the Remasters is very simple. Gull Records owned the rights to the first two records, but due to the fact the company (Gull) did not really back the band and left them pretty much no better off from the sale of those to records, Judas Priest broke their contract with Gull and came to Columbia Records? in the U.S. way back then. Lawyers were involved, but the results were basically Judas Priest is not allowed to perform any of the songs from Sad Wings of Destiny, or Rocka Rolla without having to pay a sum to Gull.  The one exception is Diamonds and Rust because it was a remake of a Joan Baez song, therefore no copyright infringment. They just pretty much abandoned any performance of those songs since they had zero desire to pay money to Gull, who offered them no support in their formative years.  That is why there a bazillion resales of the Gull label songs with so many different jackets...........They are just trying to make a buck off a band they exploited many years ago.

It's a long story, and even I don't fully know it all, but due to legal issues, they are not included in the remasters packet. I think someone else here might be able to explain much better why.

SUPER ~! Thank you so much. One more thing ... why "J" start with SIN AFTER SIN album instead of their official first album ROCKA ROLLA, and also skipping? SAD WINGS Of DESINY ?    [Show/Hide Quoted Message] (Quoting Message by Vaillant 3.0 from Tuesday, August 30, 2011 9:01:25 PM)

The CD that has the last "S" is Ram it Down, while British Steel has the first "S". And yes, there is a CD that only has the space between Judas and Priest. That would be Point of Entry.

I have almost all of the release in CD. Mostly in remaster series. These series mostly  has "SONY music entertainment UK ltd" label on the back cover with "The re-masters speclal bonus tracks logo on them. These series in totall ? should spell J U D A S  P R I E S T correct ??? Could you tell me which album shares the letter "S"  ??? and is there space between JUDAS and PRIEST ??

I have two albums by KOCH records label. Who are these guys ?
